Donnie Simpson played the song during his morning radio show this morning. I like it, Prince involvement or not. Maybe it will get put into regular rotation and I won't have to hear Usher or 50 cent every 15 mins.

I heard this song on the radio driving home from work yesterday. The other people on the road must have thought I was crazy...lol...I was bopping my head,I'm surprised I didn't get into an accident lol

It's so good to hear a REAL ARTIST on the radio for a change!!

Do you have Real Player? If not don't bother with it, just install this instead (if you use Windows Media Player that is...)

Prince's guitar bits are not very strong in my opinion, I think he could have done much better. It sounds like he just stepped in without ever hearing the track and just noodles around a bit with the first thing he came up with. I also think the guitar doesn't really fall into the mix, it stands out soundwise if you know what I mean.

I think it's good to see the kid play on someone else's track and NOT TAKE OVER. It shows growth and maturity.
oh, and the kid will ALWAYS stand out. That what makes him P. We love him when he's great and we understand him when he's not excellent.

New Stevie Wonder Set Due In June

photo
Stevie Wonder will on June 8 release "A Time 2 Love," his first new studio album since 1995. Details are scant about the Motown project, but Wonder is expected to be in the public eye more than he has in years around the release date.

In the weeks ahead, the artist is expected to perform on an episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" devoted solely to him. He is also scheduled to appear on ABC's "Good Morning America."

On June 10, the artist will be presented with the Johnny Mercer Award by the National Academy of Popular Music/Songwriters Hall of Fame, for the "high quality and impact" of his body of work.

"A Time 2 Love" is the follow-up to "Conversation Peace," which debuted at No. 16 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 366,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The single "For Your Love" reached No. 11 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

-- Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

It doesn't say anything about the single though. Interesting...

That is an old article from 2004. The Stevie album was delayed a few times.

The real release date is now May 3, 2005.

Neither the guitar sound nor the playing sounds like Prince to me!

Of course it could still be him, but then he's making a very lame contribution IMO. Whoever the guy is, he's pretty much playing what anybody else would play - whereas Prince would normally do something that's at least slightly different...

The guitar sound exactly like Prince to me for a cut like this. The lick get a little nore intricate and amuzing the closer U get to the end of the track.

When Prince in Jammin on a track and U have the audacity
to say it isn't him...
Shame on U!

Sure sounds like it could be Prince. The guitar is no more intricate or plain than his contribution to Chaka's "Sticky Wicked" or Madonna's "Love Song". Plus he clearly calls out Prince and Femi.

Songs not incredible, but its better than much of what Stevie did in the last decade.

Well, let's put it this way: If Stevie hadn't said his name at the beginning of the song, I'm pretty sure that none of you would have recognized Prince on guitar...

I love the synth bassline and the vocals are great, but the beat is too thin and stale I think. I wish he had used fatter drum samples or that he would have played live drums. I also was waiting for some kind of progression, but the groove as it is now is pleasant enough.

It's nice to hear some new Stevie grooves, so don't take these comments as complaints, these are just my first thoughts when I heard the song. Cool song, I really like it, but I think a fatter mix would do this track more justice.

ohhh but that is stevie on the drums and everything else but the backing vox and guitar
i saw him recording this track on oprah last year

i agree..that guitar lick is in the pocket..
p does not have 2 do no 'while my guitar gently weeps" virtuoso tricks when he is guesting on stevie wonder's song..

Hehehe, I was not thinking about a heavy guitarsolo, that's not what I mean with "he can do better". I think Prince is a really strong rhythm guitarist and I think he could have done something much better. With Prince I expect a little bit more maybe...

yo i agree..i like the guitar work on paradigm much better 4 example..but 4 the song i dont know what else would work..prince has a gift of knowing where things should go in a song..and 2 lay low and hold the groove like that..very simple but effective..which is a key ingredient in funk...if u sit there and play the groove on the one 4 a while and keep it in the pocket..u know it's gonna get good 2 ya smile
