The biggest Shock has got to be Batdance..not that its a good track its just Batman and everything associated with it was huge - and it was kept at number 2 by that crap "Join me dancin' naked in the rain" tripe Batdance and Cream did make it to number one.

In recent history: Musicology, Call My Name, and Cinnamon Girl.

Kiss should've reached number 1 here in the UK.. that single was huge - and still is a popular song! If I remember correctly it stayed in the top 10 for a while 2 - does anyone know what beat it to number 1? Also.. what was Prince's highest chart position with a single last year in the US and what song was it with??? Once is entertainment, twice is education

2.At no point in the song does he talk about getting crunk and then beating you down. ' You see, maybe he should've. I would've loved to here that 5'2, skinny mofo talk anbout beating suckas down.

It was easily misinterpreted, which is part of the beauty of the song, but it was also it's downfall. Forget Sexy MF, this was Prince's boldest single ever!

It took balls to come out with a song like that as a single. We are stardust. We are golden.

"When You Were Mine" -- reason it didn't chart well is because it wasn't released. damn, it would've done as well as "I Wanna Be Your Lover"

***"Let's Pretend We're Married"---it was released as the fourth single from '1999' but it didn't do very well. It's one of the strongest tracks on the album.

One that always come to my mind is Partyman -- after Batdance was a huge hit, the first Batman movie was huge, and Partyman just seemed like a great radio-friendly single. The video was cool and kooky, too. It just seemed to fizzle -- don't know where it topped-out, but it wasn't nearly as high as I thought it would be.

and Prince didnt... absolutely shocking,. Didn't get to Number 1, but it did beat the Prince release. Sadly, that got to Number 6!!!! Can you believe it, outrageous! Even worse is, he slaughtered the friggin song. I dunno, some people's taste!
