The shy image is a big sham. Prince's old manager Steve Fargnoil said "Prince is just as outspoken offstage." Prince has been "booed" for totally ignoring his fans and rock peers (no "Hi", no smiles, no waves, no acknowledgement). So is it shyness? Or rudeness and arrogance? Prince has trust issues. Prince is cautious. Prince is very competitive.

I don't care! Prince acknowledged me, June 20, 2004!! He gave me a point, a wink and he blew me a damn kiss! So fuck what anyone else thinks! I know he's very sensitive and acknowledges his fans. True that I'm fucking hot and hard to be ignored but that's beside the point. He showed me some love, and I'll be taking that joy with me on my dying day! So Farnoli and any booing fans can bite me on a red letter day!!

No, it's not a sham! Obviously you are not a shy person! I am painfully shy, yet around people I like/love or semi-trust (i don't trust anyone), I am outspoken and so to them, I don't seem shy (I just seem a tad bit odd b/c even with them, I talk, but hardly make eye contact). And Prince doesn't have to say hi or smile or wave! He doesn't owe that to anyone!

Shyness, especially extreme shyness, can be mistaken for rudeness and arrogance. I know! But I am glad I am shy-- it kept be from being ordinary and a follower.

Prince is not shy! Shy guys dont go on the MTV Video Music Awards singin' Gett Off with there ass hangin' out! That's not shyness, that's rudeness.

Yes, he is SHY. Shy people have their moments when they know they have to do something and can't hide always, but later on they will think and think and think about that "non-shy" thing they did and wonder if they should have done that, but shy people have this notion that they can do what they want and not be seen in the same light as a non-shy person that may do a similar thing-- it's weird, but shy people function differently

Prince didnt "have to" do that, he did it just to be rude and sleazy!
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

If he says he is than I would believe it.

I, myself, am quite shy. And I'm constantly being told by people who have become my friends that they used to think I was a snobby bitch. When in reality I just don't feel comfortable talking to people I don't know well.

Also a lot of performers have terrible stage fright but they are able to create a different onstage personna who's not shy/afraid to allow them to get through performances.
Change my pitch up, smack my bitch up

Oh my god thats the funky shit!

Prince has said in a January 9th 1979 interview with Jon Bream for The Minneapolis Star Tribune. "When I first encounter someone, I'm a little laid back and cautious. People are constantly calling me shy. I dont feel shy, but I guess sometimes I come off that way to people. Everybody at Warner Bros has a big impression that I'm really quiet. If he doesnt talk, he probably wont dance
or sing much. I have to put to rest all those accusations."
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

EXACTLY. Only a shy person would understand! The feeling Prince has on stage is probably akin to the feeling one has (well the feeling I have) when dancing in the mirror and playing make-believe-- I feel like a different person; I am in a daze. I would never dance or act the way I do when I am dancing to Prince music in the mirror (and I can dance rather well, but shyness holds me back from acting this way in, say, a club setting), but since Prince is a musician and performs, I am guessing he conjures up this feeling to get through the act-- and besides he is a genius and he knows he has talent and that CAN override shyness!

Yes, I am shy, but I don't feel shy. I am constantly told that I am TOO shy, but I think, "huh, but I was talking a lot to you just now." Really, people try to make a big deal out of shyness. Personally, everyone could stand a shy bone.

OMG..that is exactly what people say about me! It takes me a while to open up to and get to know people too and people always say that before they really new me they assume I am "snobby" "stuck up" or a "bitch" but I just don't enjoy making small talk to people I have no immediate chemistry with. I guess it is not really shyness just a comfort thing. Sometimes you just feel more drawn to some people and open up to them faster. I get the impression that Prince is the same way and maybe that is why he is not so immediatly friendly with fans. It is not that he doesn't appreciate us he just doesn't like to talk and comverstate with people he feels comfortable with.

Sorry it this got off topic!
