anybody here fought for for prince?

have anyone of you ever been into a fight because of prince. goddammit, now when i really think back it makes me wonder the kinda effect he's had in my life. i don't just love him like a fan. i love him like he's a relative.. i slapped a friend o mine back in '84 in highschool.... he kept calling prince a fucking faggot ass (cos he had those eye makeup on all the time). i just slapped him right across his face. he stopped after that. i still don't regret it at all. turn back the clock, i'll do it again.

I have been a Prince fan since 1983 and have arguments about him ever since. It's usually because the FIRST thing people say when they find out I am a Prince fan is "isn't he gay?" I say "no", and they go into the makeup and clothes. I say "he loves women"! Now I say "he's married". Some people say "that doesn't mean anything". I try to talk about the music but most people can't understand. I usually just let it go. Some people will never get it. Thier loss!

Today in one of my classes my professor showed us a Prince video "Get Up" He was telling us something about how he uses the women and how many women were angry with him about the video. I wasn't paying attention though, I was trying to concentrate on the video. In highschool I had a music teacher who said he use to do something with Prince, but I can't remember. He showed us the "Purple Rain" movie, but noone cared about the movie. They thought it was bad. oh, well

As I said many time before, my mom has been a Prince fan from the beginning. And I've always "known" Prince, he's like a member of my family (I'm 26). Anyway I used to have Prince buttons, t-shirts, etc. I'd be proud 2 have my little Controversy button on my jean jacket. And kids would make fun of me in first grade. I remember choking out quite a few kids for them calling me a fag, and there favorite question "is he (Prince) your boyfriend.." After the summer everyone came back with Purple Rain shirts, and all that...I've always resented Purple Rain people due to that fact. I've associated them with picking on me...

As far as argueing, now that's a different story. I very rarely got into an arguement with anyone back in the day because most everyone I knew loved Prince. These days, it's a little different.

If it's someone younger than I am, I usually hear "Prince is gay" or "Prince's music sucks". As for the gay thing, I usually say "Oh, I certainly hope so" or "If you can't stand him, then why are you giving him a complement?" The arguement usually doesn't last very long because I usually end it with a statement that they cannot respond to like..."What the hell do you know about music anyway because you come from a generation that only knows ballads and hip hop....you're not worthy of me wasting my time argueing with you".

If it's someone my age or older, I usually hear "Prince ain't shit like he used to be...he's off on a far out trip and has stayed there ever since Purple Rain". I usually agree with them on that but I also reply by saying "Even on the weird, far out trip he's been on for years, he still kicks the hell out of anyone else's ass out there...he's the only one that can still jam....everyone else resorts to doing weak ass ballads". They can't argue with that. A lot of the time, I hear "He's a faggot" as a last resort. I reply by saying "Ain't it a damn shame that it takes a faggot to show the rest of the world how to jam? So called straight people can't seem to get past midtempo or sissyfied ballads". Sometimes I respond to them the same way I do with the younger people..."If you don't like him, then why are you giving him a complement?". Homophobic people hate for you to consider their insult as a complement.

after people find out im a prince listener they always answer with

i just ask them if they think michael jackson is gay?

then i remind them about the way michael acts off stage and inform them about the way prince is off stage

There's no denieing that the man is feminim(or wateva).My gay male friend and I watch the Hits Collection DVD together and drool all other the T.V.

I believe his feminim side gives him the best of both words, his creativity, vitality, sexuality, passion and wicked sence of style.

I've noticed feminim traits in other great artists like Jimmy Hendrix and Lenny Kravitz. Nobody questions their sexuality.
