Prince crowd surfing

I was just flicking through the Rave DVD and saw Prince crowd surfing. I'm assuming because he was at Paisley Park he felt safe enough to do this.

Does he do this much? I mean, I can't imagine him doing it in a 'normal' concert - the 'fams' may try to get too close! wink

Also, what's with the costumes in the concert - there's the smurf one and the one he ends the concert in that makes him look like Mr Do! biggrin
U been bamboozled, hoodwinked, took.

Can you imagine reaching up and passing him through the crowd?
What part of his body would you hope to touch?

In Vegas at the HOB last Feb. in the middle of the concert P disappeared from the stage & entered from the back of the room w/ the whole band & came through the crowd right next to me jumping up & down & imploring the rest of us to do the same w/ security in tow. Poor Maceo had a hard time getting back on stage, the man isn't a spring chicken you know. It was totally improvised & took the whole band by surprise.

Prince can be seen stage diving in the "Beautiful Strange" video. I believe the gig was in London at the time, not the comforts of Paisley Park.

Isn't he just riding on fairground rides with Mayte? It's been ages since I watched 3 Chains, so I may be wrong...

Naw he stage-dived in that video also. It was just a video though with a pre-approved audience so it's as fake as his Prince-grunge look that he flirts with in that video.

He did it at The Forum aftershow in London after the Wembley Stadium gig in 1993 too... (he went 2 run and jump again, but his security tem were by this point having heart attacks, and restrained him from doing so - with Prince laughing his head off at the chaos he was causing.

So he nodded at Mayte, and she dove off the stage instead. lol

God, that was such an amazing nite. So wish I could 'experience' it again!

He stage dove twice at the Act 1 concert in Sunrise Florida back in 93 I believe. It was the opening night of the tour. It happend right in front of me and I never in my wildest dreams imagined Prince ever doing that.

He lost his symbol necklace on the 2nd dive and his bodyguards were over there within seconds trying to find who took it. No one claimed to it of course.

That was a kick ass show.

I think he is kinda comfortable getting in (or near) the crowds. At the Musicology release party at Webster Hall in NYC he walked through part of the crowd to the stage. I almost had a heart attack when they told us to keep a path clear for him to get to the stage because he was going to walk right next to me! biggrin The music started and he just walked through the crowd and up the stairs to the stage. No bodygaurds in front or behind. Just him. I was suprised because he seemed very calm, he didn't rush. Just wandered to the stage through the crowd! And we behaved ourselves!! wink Very, very cool night. cool

He fell back off the stage onto the crowd at the Astoria aftershow in London too right on top of me - I was looking over my shoulder at Mayte surfing further back.

If you look closely in the Rave video, he doesn't actually surf the crowd. His security guys carry him through the crowd....

He fell gracefully backwards onto a group of us at one of the Musicology aftershows at the House of Blues in LA last June! I thought it was such a beautiful thing that he trusts us that way! He's very lightweight! biggrin

I would have loved to have seen the look on Rick James' face back in the day when Prince had his bodyguard to carry him through the crowd while he was performing. lol
