The Album Survivor 2004 Edition #11 CLOSED

We have a surprise exit here... Not one but 2 albums were cast off the island. Somebody took their ONA piano locked it up in a vault and threw it in the sea..

Yes u read it right both The Vault and One Night Alone Piano are eliminated with an equal amount of votes!!

The list shrinks and shrinks...what will the future bring us? Will Sott reign supreme or will the 20th anniversary of Purple mess that up? Maybe Parade or Rainbow Children??

Thank U all for voting and keep it up smile

Happy voting!!

Rules:

This page contains a list with album titles, U vote the album u like least off the list!! Only one album may be voted off per thread!
The thread will be active for 3 days until i start counting the votes! Then a new thread will appear with the new list !! After a few weeks we will have a new? undisputed best Prince album!!

Some Explanations: I didn't include e.p.s like The Beautiful Experience or C-Note...
I have listed The Truth as a seperate album, cuz it deserves to be recognised as such!
I Have not listed Gold Nigga & Exodus cuz thoise are NPG albums, however I did list New Power Soul cuz it's a P album in disguise
The reason I didn't include Madhouse, because they were not really P albums...They belong on a side project list.
The reason for not including the very best of is simple... we already have the Hits the B-sides on it... and 2 hits packages was just too much...
The reason for not including Girl 6, sorry just 4got it...

You may NOT vote more than once!!!

One Night Alone (Live)

I still say Hits/B-Sides shouldn't be there though.

Come.

The Hits/ The B-Sides should be there - if only for the B-Sides. It's as much of an album as The Slaughterhouse and The Chocolate Invasion.

But it's a collection of tracks from throughout his career that was never intended to be listened to as an album! It shouldn't be here.

boxing

but the B-sides have to keep it here! otherwise they won't be included at all, and that makes me so mad !

Anyway, there are loads of good posthumous albums by people which weren't meant to be listened to as an album but still kick ass. smile

Hmm, I'm kinda stuck now. I agree with most people here that the Hits/B-sides shouldn't really be included, it's mostly a collection of songs not chosen by Prince so it's not really an 'album' it's a 'collection'. If we were voting for best Beatles albums, would we include all the best of collections? Is the Number Ones album better than Sgt. Peppers? Of course it is in the sense it has all the very best songs - but doesn't have the flow of Peppers, a real album.

And yet, my personal criteria for voting is CDs I've played less, and I've actually played the Hits a lot more than many on this list. So other than that, I'm caught between:

ONA Live, which should have been great because it was a great tour but somehow failed to capture the atmosphere of the concerts. And of course there's the much lauded 3rd CD of aftershow material - but in my opinion, too many instrumental jams, too many guests, and he's done far more impressive coherent stuff at aftershows not included.

And The Truth - a few great tracks but over-all lacking. An acoustic album that really isn't acoustic, it's betwixed and between and I just don't often feel like playing it.

Ah, ermm, oooh, arrr, ermmmm... not sure. I think I'll have to go for The Truth though I'm pretty sure the Hits will go next even without my vote.
