Gotta b "The Ride".

God, I love this website! It's digital crack! Plus, until now I always thought I was a Prince-obsessed geek (which I am), but apparently I have a ways 2 go b4 I'm out and out certifiable, judging from the frequency of how much many of you post.

New 2 the game, and hope 2 meet a few of you in line next week.

1) 5 women
2) If I had a harem (Blues in C) from the Lovesexy tour?

I know there are others... Purple House?

I like "The Ride" a lot. But there aren't a whole lot of Prince songs that can be considered 'blues' is there? There seems to be more unreleased blues songs than there are released blues songs.

Bill thinks he's bein' funny. But he's right!

If you havent heard Kiss (accoustic version) I suugest you find it immmediately, only 1min 16sec long but and just as good as, if not better than the radio version.

other favs:

Harem (as already mentioned above)

Alphabet St. (accoustic, blues version)

Poor Goo (along with the rest of "The Undertaker" tracks)

5 Women...excellent song, not exactly blues as

I was referring to it, but who am I to say....in that case

I better throw in Old Freinds 4 Sale too!

5 Women is my favorite.

"Don't Make Me Pay For Your Mistakes" I don't think it's an original, but it's still my favorite of his "blues" songs.

"Wedding Feast" is NOT a blues song. Some of you guys say the same tired things over and over expecting a laugh. Notice next time you're the only one laughing!

"The Ride". Especially the 10 minute version from the "Undertaker" Album. LOVE that one.

"Poor Goo".

"5 Women".

"Dark", kinda bluesy but not sure if that would qualify.

"I Wonder" -a ghust of southern wind came and took my girl away from me. Aaaaauw.

While we're on the subject of blues. Can't nobody top Mr Ben Harper in this league.

Perhaps you don't agree, but I think that his voice is just MADE for singing blues. Man wrote some haunting songs.

Beautiful.

I'd love 2 see him do a song with Prince.

I remember an interview back in 1994/5 in which Prince said he'd just completed a blues album - not The Undertaker (although there is a lot of blues on that album, he said).
I wonder if we'll ever hear that unreleased album? I for one would love it, and he seems to be going through various genres right now - acoustic (The Truth), piano (ONA), jazz (Xenophobia), rock guitar (Witness - although this may be a song title from the album rather than the title itself - but I digress).

Come on Prince - release the blues album!!!!!

No Question: "5 Women"

Classic blues subject matter:

Lost a woman.
Can't get her back.
Can't let her go.

I have played this song for several girlfriends. They always end up learning the lyrics and really like the song even though they didn't necessarily like blues or Prince, for that matter.

Heres my list. Now these may not sound like "traditional" blues sonmgs to y'all, but thats not what the question asked.
I think these are heartfelt sad songs, but just cuz they dont sound like John Lee Hooker, they are still blues.

1. 5 Women
2. Condition of the heart!
3. Dont Play Me
4. How Come U Dont Call Me Anymore
5. Dark
6. The Beautiful Ones
7. Gotta Broken Heart Again
8. I hate U
9. Something in the water
10. Baby

Not stupid, but not a BLUES song just the same! Just consider it a "comedic warning" no actual crime was commited, but next time you're going DOWN, bud! wink
And that goes for any one who makes another Kirky J, Wedding Feast, Larry Graham, JW, Abe Lincoln,Crystal Ball fiasco, comment that has been done to death already!
