Glam Slam Ulysses was an "interactive musical theatre prodution". It was a dance performance
loosely based on Homer's Odyssey starring Carmen Electra (Prince himself didn't appear).
Some footage from it was included in 'The Beautiful Experience' TV special. It featured (at the
time) brand new, previously unreleased songs. The first material to be credited to rather
than Prince. It used the following tracks...

I also remember seeing a few sequences of Come where Prince was obviously trying to fit
Interactive on the album, but couldn't quite decide where to place it. It appeared before
Come, then after Space, then returned to the begining of the album and replaced Come
altogether. It also swapped between TGE and Come several times before being dropped
completely (finally surfacing on Crystal Ball). Interactive also appeared on 'The Dawn'
(in it's short lifespan before it was shelved). Unfortunately, the tracklist for this version
of 'The Dawn' has never surfaced (or any, come to think of it). Prince has had at least 3
attempts at making an album called 'The Dawn' over the years. The first was in 1986,
then in 1993, and finally again in 1997.

Boris, I would just like to say thank you for clearing things up a bit, although somehow I feel more confused than when I started this thread.

Even though my guess at the original configuration may not be quite correct, it still makes for an excellent 60 minutes tape - it's a perfect fit with seven songs on each side and all of them good. It's a recommendable listening experience, so you should definitely try this at home, folks.

Another question has occurred to me: Considering that the jamaican rapper on the Pink Casmere 12" Remix (which I assume was made in '93) sounds like it's the same rapper as on I Rock, Therefore I Am, is it conceivable that I Rock, Therefore I Am was also recorded in 1993?

Because I think this is important knowledge to spread. Prince's vast 1993 production hasn't received sufficient coverage in any Prince publications and I think it deserves the recognition as Prince's most creative and productive period in the '90ies.

This is the Come album as it was originally delivered to Warner Bros. 'Poem' was later broken up to form the segues and 'Orgasm' in the released version of the album, while 'Interactive' and 'Strays of the world' were removed and later came out on the Crystal ball set. Everything else is the same as on the released version of the Come album. 'Poem' is the only track from the test pressing not officially available in the form it has here, but that's not enough to make this especially interesting or worthwhile.

The remix of 'Come' is done very professionally and sounds almost like something that could have been on a 12". The others vary, some are well produced, others not so, but overall this is a pretty decent collection of DJ mixes.

it's interesting how 'Endorphin Machine' changes it's name over time. It started life as
'Endorphin Machine' then by the time of Glam Slam Ulysses had grown an 'e' and turned
into one word 'Endorphinemachine', then it couldn't decide whether it was two words or one
as it swapped between projects, sometimes appearing as 'Endorphinmachine' and sometimes
as 'Endorphin Machine' before finally being released as one word.

Also, I've just noticed I made an error in my listing for the first sequence of Come.
It shouldn't include 'Race' (I'm so used to automatically putting it after Papa).
It should be...

And this is a track list from 1993, from before The Dawn, right? So maybe this is the track list that Mayte referred to in her letter, and the short, 9-track list you just corrected was actually prior to May 30th? (As she also refers to Pope which doesn't figure on the really short track list.)

Gosh, the number of configurations just keep growing. He was indeed a busy little critter that year.

Do you also remember the complete track list from the '94 configuration that started with the "spiritual" version of Come and ended with the "sex"-version (and Strays of The World as a hidden track)?

There were also many versions of Come (the title track) recorded and remixed over time.
The vast majority of which have never surfaced. 7 of which were going to be used on an EP
release much like 'The Beautiful Experience' EP. 18 & Over was one of these mixes and so
was the remix used in 'The Beautiful Experience' TV Special (in fact I think that version was
going to be the new 'regular' version and was due to replace the original album version).

I've also heard that there were many attempts to record Days Of Wild (not for an EP release
though), as it was a song that always seemed to come alive when played live, but Prince was
never entirely satisfied with the 'several' different studio recordings of it (yes, that means
there are multiple seperate studio takes of this track that have never surfaced anywhere
sitting in the vault).

But I suspected as much with Loose, and I suspect that So Dark was intended for that, too, as a kind of B-side track.

So the Loose and Come EPs are really the only ones that weren't released. (Space and The Hate Experience was.)

But was the 5 minutes version from the TV movie included on any of the album configurations?

Or was it the '91 version on all of the 1993 configurations and then the released version on all of the 1994 configurations?

Wow, awsome thread. This was such an awsome time to be a fan. Reading through this has brought back some wonderful memories!

March 11th 1994? Wasn't "Letitgo" recorded on March 16th 1994? That would make the 11th not the final configuration (obviously because "Strays" is the final track). So in the 5 days between the 11th and 16th Prince wasn't happy with that version of "Come" and wrote "Letitgo" in that period (probably realising he would have to include a track somewhere that explains the name change somewhat, and some sort of closure to Prince in ready for the introduction of on TGE).

So after March 16 and before the retail release, what was the finaldate? does anyone know?

there are a lot of brilliant songs that have been recorded by P during that time period, one of which is i.m.o. "Loose". I was watching one of the Glam Slam performances and i was blown away by how good Loose sounded live.
Does anybody know if remixes of Loose exist? I have always imagined there would be a shelved EP much like he did for TMBGITW, or Love Sign (2 other masterpieces).

After Prince had submitted the March 11th 1994 version of 'Come'
(the one that had the following tracklist...)

WB were not happy with the album and asked for the inclusion of several newer stronger
tracks like 'The Most Beautiful Girl In The World' and 'Days Of Wild', as well as the actual
title track 'Come', which had been inexplicably dropped.

PRINCE AGREED, and submitted another new version of the album (including all these tracks)
to WB on March 19th. Unfortunately the tracklist for this configuration is not known, but it
may have looked something like this...

1. Come
2. Interactive
3. Endorphin Machine
4. Space
5. Days Of Wild
6. The Most Beautiful Girl In The World
7. Pheromone
8. Loose
9. Papa
10. Race
11. Dark
12. Solo
13. Dolphin
14. Strays Of The World

It may even have included tracks like 'Acknowledge Me' or the newly recorded 'Let It Go'.
(which wasn't called 'Letitigo' until just before the final album was released - just to make
