Hummm; maybe I had better order it thru Amazon instead of NPGMC. I have 10 times more faith in Amazon than I do in NPGMC.

Not really. Until he goes on tour or gives members unreleased music through his website. I re-joined recently with the $25 basically serving as a "safety net" in case he does decide to perform this year. I want a shot at good tickets. Otherwise, I never go to the site. There's no point, in my opinion.

NPGMC has said that THEIR copies will be region 0, but NTSC. They will not be selling the PAL (European) version through the club but they said it will be available in stores in Europe in the correct format. In many DVD players it doesn't really matter about PAL/NTSC but, to play it safe, you should get the right format for your region.
I'd get it through Amazon.co.uk, just to be safe.

you can keep an eye out on www.amazon.co.uk

i'm assuming that he'll get a distribution deal there, and japan, (and elsewhere if need be)

i'm assuming he did this with the rave dvd.

a. npgmc will be taking orders on 8-12 and then shipping right away. so i figure that if one is ordered early on the 12th with 2-day shipping, it should arrive by the 14th or 15th...

b. amazon won't be getting them until the 19th, which means you wouldn't get it til the 21st or 22nd...

c. stores like best buy should get it on the 19th, but it will prowley cost 19.99 plus tax...

The free shipping only applies for within the US.
PAL is a much better format than NTSC, so I might wait until it is released here in Oz.

not true... i always get mine on or the day following the release date. sometimes on the day before. (my track record? 883 dvds, about 600 from them.)

so, you're going to pay $14.99 via the npgmc website, plus 2-day ups (which is around another $14.99, haha) so you can watch the 68 minutes the rest of us haven't seen yet 3 days before everyone else?

to each his own i guess.

i paid my $25 membership to the npgmc. if he would've released n.e.w.s and the dvd at the same time, i may have ordered the dvd from him. but as it is now, i'll get it from where i normally do and figure i basically paid $35 for the n.e.w.s cd. (far less than i've paid for boots in the past... and knowing that most of the $35 went to prince is good enough for me.)

Checked Best Buy in Dearborn, Michigan Tuesday to see if they had NEWS for sale.

Nope.

But I did see that Best Buy will be selling the ONA DVD for $17.99 on 19 August.

As well, in Best Buy's directory they are selling, and have in stock, the bootlegged Brazilian Sign O The Times DVD. lol

The real problem is that NTSC has crappier picture than PAL, so if you need PAL (Europe,...) and can get a PAL version, get that one.

will be cheaper than NPGMC (unless NPGMC ship for free!), but I think NPGMC will get it to you quicker. Yeah yeah, they're not great at speedy delivery, but if they start shipping on 12 August then they will definitely get it to you by the 25th (news took just short of 2 weeks to get to scotland, and that was with the 'backorder' problem).

Pre-ordering with amazon is usually a good deal - i pre-ordered CSI and got it on Monday (ie the very day it was released!). But i'm guessing that was because the suppliers got it to amazon early - anyone betting NPGMC will manage that?! One bonus though, is that amazon's PAL version is playable on any UK TV set - the NPGMC dvd will play on any DVD player, but NTSC means it will only play on some TVs (check ur manual), and even then may not be such a great picture.

I think i'll wait, even though i'd rather line prince's pockets than amazon's.

Yeah, right...has the club EVER shipped anything with 2-day delivery? No. What makes you think this time will be any different?

I'll probably end up buying this at some point, but I'm certainly in no rush. If I have to wait until November to see it for $10 at Best Buy, then that's fine with me. Maybe by then some of this rotten taste will be out of my mouth and I'll actually feel like buying it.

It's never easy. Either you order early and never get it. The cost is irrelevant for me. I am just so sick of edited performances and bad selections. ( example of the live dayz of wild from CB) The rave dvd sucks and I thought the song was borderline also.

Someone spoke of bad taste in their mouth. I have been buying all this junk for years and I am so tired of his blatant display of poor judgement. Iron Maiden & Rush both will or have released their Rock in Rio in its entirity, why can't Prince, would he want this is Joni & Kate put something out this half-assed?

Difficult was exceptable when he was putting out genius material. What's next a new snippet of the "renowned Prince NPG classic: black mf in the house" the ride was cool in 91 or from the undertaker performance.

The track list does nothing for me. Strange reltaionship did sound amazing on the one night alone disc.

i bought purple rain in 1997 a few months before i had a dvd player.

they're so cheap now (players) that there's really no excuse anymore smile
