Dutch radio dedicates a show to Prince live-recordings

The program called 'BNN for live' is broadcasted on Dutch Radio 2, and consists of two seperate hours. The first hour (19:00 - 20:00) is dedicated to live-recordings holding special memories to the listeners. The second hour (22:00 - 23:00) beholds a compilation of live-recordings by legendary bands and artists, implicated to be non-stop.

The announcement regarding Prince states that (probably the second hour) a compilation of live-recordings will be aired, including rare 'not available elsewhere' material. The reason for this dedicated show is Radio 2's theme 'Week of the eighties'. smile

The statement that the show features recordings never heard before could very well be true, as the Dutch radio has a long history of recording concerts themself.

Showtime is June the 20th, 19:00 - 20:00 and 22:00 - 23:00 (help!).
Radio 2 offers its shows via live-streams as well, depending on your bandwidth, choose between either smallband or broadband.

Enjoy biggrin

If Prince isn't involved in the broadcast directly then wouldn't this be crossing the bootleg line?

I'm sure it will piss him off since they may play illegal recordings, but I think he's rather have ppl listening to them for free rather than buying them, don't you think? He did once say "tape-trading isn't as a despicable" so this is much better than tape-trading since its free. But Prince could have a fit and go on another Sueing Frenzy like he always does. I mean, if he's just release the shit, then no one would make a profit from the stuff.

Since I don't read Dutch, can someone let us know how to download/record the broadcast?

My post was entirely in English, which part did you not understand?
As for recording the show, Total Recorder may fit your needs.

C'mon Rude, you should know better than that. Any previously unreleased recording will end up you know where.

On a side note, I don't think people should bother with the streams. The show will be recorded by tons of Dutch fans and put up for download ASAP, probably even in SHN.

Did you get out of bed with the wrong leg or something? There was nothing assholic about what deMatthijs said. He posted it entirely in english and he even posted easy links.

More than one person asked about how to download it because they don't speak Dutch. He sounded like an asshole with his response. Simple as that. shrug No need to get YOUR panties in a bunch over it.

Hey, I just realized that there may be some cultural misunderstanding going on here.

There is an expression in English (at least in the U.S.) that is the same as what deMatthijs said: when you say, "which part did you not understand?" (worded exactly that way) it is something that people say to be very sarcastic, and it implies that the other person is "slow" or cannot comprehend what the other person said. It is a common thing to say in the U.S. if you want to be rude or mean to someone.

If deMatthijs meant it in a harmless way, then I am sorry.

My God, I just apologized to someone on the org.
It's never been done before. What the hell is happening to me?! confuse Goin' soft...

that explains a lot, at least from my point of view. I didn't know the sarcastic meaning of those words. Of course I don't know if deMatthijs DOES know it, but if he meant it sarcastically than I'm sorry for defending him...

I am aware of the sarcastic explanation which is often used in a disrespective manner.
However, that is not the point of view I choose in my above post. I meant to stress
that the initial post contains all information needed to avoid any difficulties
with Dutch webpages. As you can see, I added direct links to the streams, and even
a link to a timezone converter. biggrin

Reading the thread again, I do realise that a smiley would have cleared the air for
the need to discuss my remark. And by the way, there is nothing soft about showing
humanity - especially on a forum - so don't apologize for apologizing... wink
