eek Prince WOULD NOT be happy about this! First Janelle turning into a raunchy, pansexual, sex pot and now Misty on the stripper pole! But she looks HOT!

She does look amazing! She just posed for a few photos,I'm sure that Prince would understand Lol. I think that her explanation for choosing to do the project was well put. I believe I recall Janelle saying in an interview that she played her album or some of it for him and he loved it.

I'm going to see her in a few days but not on a stripper pole.
More power to her though.

Now I love Prince but he isn't in control of either of those women's lives. The got what they got on their own merits.
Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Misty has always posed in revealing ways though so it isn't really anything new. The calendar she posed for was just as revealing in some photos. She recently did a short video clip of her dancing that I thought was very revealing as well.

Yes because I cannot believe that is her. Black women and any women being free is about a different kind of strength. It’s about self-love.

It does look like her but I did find it difficult to believe that Misty would accept a role like this since she is such a big role model for young girls. She addressed that in her statement though I suppose. I just saw her IG post about the calendar. www.instagram.com/p/BrEfXySD4ZJ/

Don’t know what Prince would think, but personally I’ve always looked down on strippers and figure if they are stripping for money they might also be prostitutes. Of course the men that use prostitutes are innocent, clueless imbeciles that otherwise would be upstanding citizens if not for these loose women throwing themselves at them.

There actually is a pretty distinctive boundary..not to say it doesn't lead some girls down that path...i love the art of exotic dance though ...not necessarily talking about the buisness of gentleman's clubs...

The beautiful Misty in other suggestive poses......

She's VERY flexible & can put her body in many positions.

I do think that she's beautiful and I loved her work with Prince. I thought they had nice onstage chemistry. Some of her poses with him were a bit suggestive as well like when she would lay atop his piano. He seemed to really like her and to appreciate her talent. I just saw a tweet of his from 2015 where he posted something about her and asked if his followers had seen Misty.

Well Hannah Welton said this in an interview with The Guardian:

https://www.theguardian.c...-like-meat
Welton: “We’ve been inspired by his style and him telling us how he wants people to see us. There’s a way to be portrayed as beautiful, and even sassy and sophisticated, yet still powerful. None of us will ever compromise our look and feel as if we have to go out there wearing next to nothing to be noticed. That’s what the industry has become these days and the music is suffering; people are over-compensating for their music not being very good.

“We have way too many young kids looking up to artists that are putting out music with terrible, vulgar messages and also walking around with next to nothing on. There are misogynists everywhere in the music industry. But if women are getting sick and tired of men talking about them in their music like they’re a piece of meat, they can’t then walk around treating their body like it’s a piece of meat. Cover up, carry yourself like a woman, and then hopefully the men will take the hint and start treating you with the respect you deserve. But women first have to stand up for themselves and stop degrading themselves, stop compromising. We talk about these things with Prince a lot.”

Now maybe being an exotic dancer on a stripper pole doesn’t quality. I won’t make that judgement. Or the women in Prince’s life didn’t always listen to what he said. lol Case in point Janelle who swears like a sailor on her most recent album.

https://www.essence.com/c...june-2014/
“Did you ever hear Muhammad Ali curse?” he says. “Would you curse in front of your kids? To your mother?

“Marsha, Lianne, Janelle, Donna, Hannah, Ida, Liv, Shelby—they’re all my sisters. We shouldn’t curse at them. We need to treat all of them, and all people, like royalty.”

Prince smiles again.

“Janelle. She has so much power. She could stop an entire generation from cursing. Could you imagine a whole generation not cursing?”

I agree especially with the part I bolded above. I think Prince in his older years respected a woman who had decency, and would save those things for the bedroom.

Thanks for posting this. It actually awnsers my question very well. I would also add that if young women had more involved fathers at a young age to help them navigate this kinda stuff this wouldn't be such a problem, What I do admire about Prince was how he sincerely examined his life and past mistakes and didn't want others to go down that path, despite not having much guidance himself as a child. I wonder sometimes how fatherhood would have impacted him , I think he would have been especially good with a daughter.

This is beyond preachy by Hannah.

If I didnt know better, one would think Hannah was talking about P when I was first introduced to his music in the late 1970's.

The whole fallacy that women need to cover up in order to get respect from men is infuriating.

Stop tearing down women with your aggressive comments on how you think a woman should talk/behave/dress.

The problem for women is the type of man that you are attracting when you have the assets out. Dare I say, guys like younger Prince...and usually a world of hurt for the woman.

Nah she’s right. Elisa Fiorillo once said something similar about how Prince wanted her, Shelby and Liv to dress. I can’t find many examples of any of them on stage wearing really short skirts/dresses or showing much cleavage.

He let Andy wear some pretty revealing stuff on stage. Her outfit at Hop Farm that he commented to her during the show that he liked, showed a good bit of cleavage. She also wore hot pants for several shows. He seemed to feel differently about her. He called Liv,Shelby and Elisa his sisters and seemed rather protective of them. I guess he was more lenient when it came to Andy's attire.

Yep. The outfit is very 80's, reminiscent of 'Flashdance' I guess that's the look they were going for.
