lol lol lol

Rick = Ice Capades....yes!

Prince = Gang??...maybe a nicely stylish/eclectic gang

*

One thing is for sure when looking at Prince's style turn with Dirty Mind - he was going his own way by this point. He may have continued to incorporate some of Rick's moves, but his style was all his own by this point.

I think TrivialPursuit nailed it. The movie The Warriors had come out, and The Rev look in it to me in that picture. Uniform.

Could be. I'm. It familiar with that film. When I think of gang attire I usually picture hoodies with sweats or jeans biggrin

I watched the movie a couple years ago and though "what a piece of shit" but I did recognize that it was influential, i though more along the lines of Michael Jackson's work on beat it but never thought of the revolution. Wouldn't doubt it though, Prince had influences from everywhere, after watching a clockwork orange I thought that that crazy fuck probably watched that movie multiple times. that look he had was a kubrick staple.

Okay. I thought Michael's Beat It was kinda West Side Story. And Bad could be The Warriors because of the subway location thing. The look from Prince I get is that they look tight.

I think Prince was going for "sexy punk" with a stylish flair during that time. Vintage looking trench coats, high heeled boots, and bikini briefs. They didn't look like "Greasers" to me.

I read that one of his favorite movies back then was Eraser Head. Another one that I have not seen. Guess I need to plan a movie night.

Just finished bing watching and these are so freaking cool. They're informative and entertaining. Poor Rick James, may he rest in peace, but he really was jealous of Prince. I always thought that was an over exaggeration by fans of both but Rick's band members make it clear that it was real as hell.

I want to see the Fire It Up Tour!!!! I wonder if Rick James' Estate wants to make that money? wink

I know, RIGHT????

cool

Gotta love Alan Leeds popping up in some of these with his massive hair.

.

I bet they could have done a whole season of outlandish Rick James stories and still have plenty of untold ones.

What I love about these stories is the humor. Which traditional documentaries and biopics always tend to shy away from and homogenize. I mention this because you KNOW there is a LOT of funny shit going on in the life of any rock band

So funny!!! When they are waiting for P to enter the room!!!
And when he talks about Ricks shows with the “ladies” and ballerinas
And pyro. Hysterical. I rewatched those funny tidbits because they were so
Funny. Sad that no matter the competition, they reached the finish line
Around the same age. Racing to reach the same red light.
