You're going to have a great time. I was skeptical seeing them without Prince but they rocked it! Enjoy yourself!

I'd like to add, thre's something to be said about hering these seminal songs being played the way they were recorded and played by the people who had connections with their creation etc. No Jazzy change up of songs, put your hands up call n responses that arent needed etc etc. Ive always said he could do a whole tour on having different bands with him to perform the different eras they toured with him/wrot with him in etc.

I guess because I was able to see all but one of Prince's tours, I didn't mind the way that he changed songs over the years for various live performances. In fact, the live changes were something I began to expect. I have the record. I don't need to hear how it sounds on the record. I can play the record to hear that. In fact, by 1986, every time I listened to a new Prince album, the first thing I wondered was "How will this sound live?" Now, I'm not going to say that every change was a "great" change, but, more times than not, after I heard the live version of a song, I was rarely interested in hearing the studio version. "America" comes to mind most, but there are so many others over the years that their live versions crush the studio version, even a song, like "Little Red Corvette," which has three different live versions, and I love each one.

I agree with you...there are many instances where I believe the live versions of Ps songs crushes the studio versions.

You'll have a great time. In my 35+ years of being a Prince fan, I never got to see them until this past summer. I'm thinking about traveling to see them again.

The same here--I was so bummed out back in the 80s that I couldn't go see Prince and the Revolution on tour... Although I didn't get to see the group together with Prince, it was wonderful seeing them perform the old songs at the last venue where I saw Prince perform--a real catharsis fr me and the type of memorial needed for many fans in the audience... There were even flowers and posters on the hallway walls dedicated to Prince. The Op will have a wonderful time... BTW I also saw the Revolution in Austin with my son and his fiancee--that was really special. Don't sit in the seats; do the dance floor!

Enjoy the show !

I was listening to "Groove in A" from a Revolution rehearsal and it's amazing early Prince FUNK.

They can JAM the groove all night long.

I feel very fortunate to have been able to see a handful + of Prince's live shows throughout various stages in his career. I never had the opportunity to see him play with the Revoultion, but last year and this year also I have seen The Revolution band perform at a club venue--in my own neighborhood, to boot!

>

The Revoultion is alive, and thank goodness that they have the will to do the touring that they've been doing in these past couple of years. It is great for them to remember and honor their friend, mentor and band colleague, and for us the fans, to reminisce, decompress from our loss and bask in the presence of these people who have each been touched by his brilliant hand and also influenced his career in each their own way, if only through the propulsion of his sound. They've certainly allowed me to fulfill my wish to see them perform as a band.

clapping woot!

>

If you have a chance to go see them, do so, you will not regret it. They play the music that we all love, 100% from a place of love. And they jam!

I’ve now seen the revolution four times on these two tours and they have become more and more amazing and confident but at the same time there’s still that emotional side where they are doing this because they really miss the guy and they love him and it’s all from the heart and soul and be prepared to be emotional, but they are 100% dedicated to this, and love being with each other too.

Although I enjoyed the two times I saw The Revolution for nostalgia reasons. Since my dearly beloved Prince went into his afterlife. They ARE NOT the same without PRINCE! His leadership left a GREAT void without him. He took them into directions they can NEVER go in without him. Although Stokey's vocals was AMAZING.He IS NOT PRINCE!

They had NO connections with his creations without him & his jazzy changes were SURELY missed.

Lisa I still adore U & U remain my FAVORITE ALL TIME keyboardist.

BrownMark U have GREAT presence & U SHINED.

lol i know

.

But there is something about hearing these very pecular songs rendered live with the same lp sound yet with a live rendering. Of course When Doves Cry or Kiss was never played just like the LP but in 1984-1986 they sound just like the album but with a different life. I've yet to hear WDC rendered live like on the Parade tour.

.

I love that the Revolution gives the lp + different flows and melodies at the same time.

How can u say they have no connections to his creations? they do they were connected to him and the creations.

.
But of course nothing can be the same without him. Christmas Day is not the same since peoples mother or father or sibling has passed away, doesn't mean the energy isn't there or that you stop celebrating Christmas. I would have rather the Revolution performed the tribute that Bruno Mars. Wendy's solos on Purple Rain are like she is channelling Prince right now and she is punching it

Agree on all that, they to me are so connected with him because they for the most part were there as it all came about and they totally are connected to the creations, I would say later in Princes works there are those who were not connected like they were because he was older, Life was different you are not the same person, so I feel there are different connections and levels of it, but they more than anyone were connected most. As far as replacing they say it every show they are not even trying to replace anyone it’s impossible just like saying someone is the new Prince like Bruno or someone like that, no one can ever come close to what he did and created and his level of talent. I agree too that all tributes on these shows should have been done by those connected, Bruno came off like Halloween dress up and idolized passion, and its cool he was inspired, but it still looked silly .

Bruno's karaoke Grammy performance was an embarrassment to Prince's legacy. I'm so tired of people making a joke of his image. Prince was so much more than that or Purple Rain.

yep, also the 1991 yellow outfit(assless pants) Janelle Mone, Anthony Anderson did that during their 'tributes'

Now that look that Bruno had also looked like some outfits Prince had during the 1992 period too or even Lovesexy

Prince did wear ruffled shirts throught his career into the Welcome 2 tours

Agree, but to his credit Bruno said he was intimidated to do the tribute (didn't know how to approach someone as iconic as Prince), didn't really have time to put much together, and not really any good advice. I think he would have preferred not to do it.

I've seen The Revolution seven times now since they reunited after Prince died. And every time was a great experience. The songs sound just like they did live back then which is what I want to hear. Prince & The Revolution was my very first concert back in 1985 so that group is very special to me more so than any of Prince's other bands. I'll continue to go see them whenever they are playing within a short driving distance.

I took my 25 y/o guitarist son to see history back this past February. He was blown away, kept saying, " they're so tight ! ". Started out with America and never let up, they even played When Doves Cry. Stokely sang a bit but never tried to imitate. The only thing missing was my Boo.
