Uploader of Vanity 6 album to digital services ordered to pay profits to the Prince Estate

About time. I'm surprised that action hasn't been taken against Tunecore, who clearly have a non-existent checking system when it comes to copyright and ownership. I'm presuming that this tool was also responsible for the Family and Madhouse albums being illegally uploaded and offered for sale.

Surely the Estate, appearing to own the rights, should just chuck this up on iTunes et al themselves?

Good. Don’t know what the guy was thinking trying to pull a fast one like that. The fact that the Prince Estate has the power over Vanity 6 material means that a reissue/remaster is certainly possible and isn’t trapped in WB bureaucracy. The album, particularly “Nasty Girl” are quite popular and it’s certainly worth uploading them officially to digital platforms.
