So, is he saying that "For You" and "PRince" were equal parts Andre and Prince? Or what they were doing prior to that?

disch said:

That's all I got out of it. He kind of emphasized that during those early years, they were all (well, Andre and Prince anyway, since that's who he was talking about) more or less equal members of the band; it wasn't that Prince was a big standout and they were all backing him.

-

He didn't really talk about much beyond their teenage years together. Toure asked him if Prince changed after he made his first albums, and Andre said yes, but didn't give specific examples other than saying that that kind of thing will change anyone who is malleable.

-

Please don't take this the wrong way, but why don't you listen to the interview and then tell us what you think he's saying, not saying, if he's dissing Prince, IN THIS INTERVIEW?

Yeah, he's always trying to make it off somebody else's name, he just can't get there himself..

rolleyes being a successful producer of another artist is not a bad thing no no no! those Jody Watley albums were much more successful than the Jill Jones and Carmen Elektra album that Prince produced during that period.I'm just sayin' wink

It was successful because of JODIE WATLEY.

And seriously, Carmen couldn't sing, and Jill was nothing spectacular...Prince wasn't thinking with the right head.

Those albums made Jody Watley a household name. She was EVERYWHERE at that point. It also didn't hurt that her & Andre were secretely married.

What a HOT looking couple they made.

I just found this article from LA Weekly here are some snippets...seriously the elfin prodigy? Yeah I think Andre is a little green with envy.

Cymone procured the first guitar that Prince ever had to himself. When things got rough at Prince’s house, Cymone invited the elfin prodigy to live with his family. They bonded over The Association and The Monkees. In their first group together, Grand Central (later called Champagne), and then in Prince’s pre-Revolution band, Cymone played bass and attracted almost as much attention as his closest partner.

Prince’s original Warner Bros. deal came about through his first producer and engineer, Chris Moon — but Cymone corrects a historical misperception.

“Our band came in with a demo tape and [Moon] said, ‘You guys are pretty good’ — not, ‘That guy is really good,’” Cymone recalls, looking at least two decades younger than 58, rakishly clad in a black vest and a tan hat with a black bandanna underneath.

Moon asked Cymone to record solo tracks, but their manager warned the band to route any inquiries through him. So Cymone told Moon to talk to their manager. Prince did not, and the rest is history.

I sometimes think that too, or Vanity, I don't know. sad god I can't believe how lonely he must've been. I can't believe people who claim to be his friend didn't help him. What kind of friend buys counterfeit pills?

Questions--what did the rest of the band say about Owen and CHris's statements that Prince played everything and they witnessed him doing so? Did andre ever deny that supposed "misconception" before Prince died? If Prince and the rest of his bandmates were such equals in the beginning, why did they let him get away with it? Why did they let him get all the credit? Did they think their day would come so why not give him the attention at the time? Did they not strike when the iron was hot like Prince did (I guess that is what Andre is trying to imply.) But my question is "Why did P's managers etc in the early day gravitate more to him than his peers...Andre was supposedly just as talented and handsome, but also taller. What, in those early days, did PRince have that they didn't have? More cutthroat??? IF that is the case, in those early days, P's shady behavior would have been easy to combat--I would think. And once he and Andre parted, wouldn't he have looked back and then stated eactly the ways he felt shafted to the press at the time. Why the secrecy about most things other than a few credits on songs? An arrangement??? that becomes null and void upon death. I can't wrap my head around Prince's supposed power over people when they are in his presense and their belittling of his talent once he is no longer around...even back to his poor days.

They can pretty well say what they want now, because Prince can't refute their claims, so they change the narrative for history. Prince brought Andre along for the ride, Andre is the one who didn't stick it out.

I'm wondering if all hell is going to break loose when the stuff in the vault gets released? Especially if these ASSociates don't get any royalitys or credit. You think they throw jabs at him now, just wait.

I read that Chris Moon chose Prince because he was the quietest and therefore

felt he had less of an ego. He thought it would be easier to work with Prince.

Apparently, the others were somewhat noisey and flamboyant, esp., Morris.

Also, I feel Prince was more focused and driven. Andre was tall, handsome, had more of a closeness with his family so may not have the same drive. Prince may have had a touch of ruthlessness that I did not feel with Andre IMO.

Does this include the Welton's?

I am sure there are 3EG vault songs.

Ida, Donna, and the others around the last few years when P's issues seemed more pronounced?

I've never heard the Welton's say anything bad about P, and I don't keep up with Ida or Donna.

I would assume that anything released from the vault that includes any of the associates that don't get money for their work will be ticked. That's why I'm wondering if all hell will break loose.
