Just love Susan Rogers - smart, articulate and a talented Engineer. Easy to see why Prince worked with her for so long. Love listening to her stories. Thanks for posting!!

Yes, she really is wonderful with the detail and creating a clear picture of the experiences with Prince. I was very happy to hear that the vaulted music is being treated well, and the future plans sound positive. I can't help but think that the "superfan" she mentioned who they have enlisted to help with releasing the music is Questlove. I think he would be the logical choice smile

All of the folks who were complaining about the song discussions on the "All These Women Threads" Forum need to come over here and discuss her interview. Tons of great information!

This interview made me go back and read the 9/85 Rolling Stone interview that Prince did. He was so open and honest in that interview, and gave so much more information than usual. I think he was in such a good place at that point which enabled him to be very open with the journalist once he felt comfortable.

Check it out on princevault.com!

Yes he was! Seems the journalist did well with helping him to relax before the actual Q & A part. The driving around his neighborhood was so adorable. Even with all of the stories about his troubled childhood he clearly loved his hometown and sharing his memories.

My favorite question was why do the classic rock stations don't play Purple rain? I've always wondered about that because PR is a classsic rock arena anthem

I appreciated that too. That's something that has always irked me.

Articulate, insighful, full of reverence and love. She speaks from the heart without filter. Her doctorate in psychology makes her interpersonal perceptions very interesting.

The classic stations should definitely be playing it now. Maybe they still consider it as more of a Top 40 "ballad"? Trying to think if I've heard Journey's "Faithfully" on the classic rock stations. Could also be the fact that Prince's music was always generally in the Pop/Funk genre?

She maybe referring to Prince expert Michael Howe, a long-time industry A&R executive, and the Prince Estate's official Vault Archivist. He's doing an EXCELLENT job getting The Vault content in tip top shape.

BTW Susan's interview is EPIC!

Oh my goodness, this interview/podcast is PHENOMENAL!!!

.

It is so heartwarming to know that Susan Rodgers is a faculty member at one of the USA's most prestigious institutes/colleges of music, the Berklee College of Music, so that she can continue to share her vast knowledge of Prince's greatness with the next generation(s)!
