He found it. I truly believe it. I look at him like this- private life/public life/secret life.

When he sings TBOs he knew then he found it. He was in his 20s. He took the long and winding road.

That song The Long and Winding Road says a lot about our life and Prince was blessed to live and learn. He died at 57.

.

His story is so not sad to me. It is glorious.

I saw Denise on TBN a few years ago and I was so impressed by what God had done in her life.I remember thinking how great it would be if Prince had still had her in his life and I was pleased to learn that they had been keeping in touch and remained friends.I don't think they still had romantic feelings for each other but had developed a friendship that surpassed the physical.I feel that he was hinting that he was in a relationship by a few of his Twitter posts. He posted an animated gif and one drawing looked to be of he and Judith Hill and since it was revealed that they were dating I wondered if it was his way of cryptically revealing it to everyone.

I never believed in any of the women he showed in public. For whatever reason Prince and Denise were close friends. She outlasted all of the women and when she transitioned he soon followed.

Whatever was on earth did not have the same pull for him. He left. He and Denise are on the other side - spirits freely enjoying the companionship they had to secretly enjoy on earth.

Vashtix, I also think they had a very special relationship and that he held a very special place for her in his heart.
For some reason he didn’t see her; he preferred to write letters.
Maybe they both knew what they meant to each other and he especially I feel recognized that they had each lived their own lives, but he wanted to be there for her. That’s what he promised in Adore, and he made her feel loved when she was in the hospital with his correspondence.

He never found what I am talking about. I believe he wouldn’t have even known it even existed unless he fell upon it. Not having it is one of the aspects of why he continued to push people away. Prince in every relationship also had to be the boss. There was never anyone who could really “break him down”.

I disagree; I think he had it and was broken down- that man changed. He had the breakdown . It was done by someone on his level an equal and not some inexperienced person or crazy person or someone and trying for their own piece of the crown .He had it in my opinion. He knew it too per his songs. It was deep.

.

Why do you feel he did not have it?

He wanted it...
He knew something like it existed...
But he never found anyone with a spirituality (not just belief) so strong (much stronger than his and totally new to him) that he felt safe enough allowing himself to not push them away.
This is the sad story.
He knows it exists now though.

The tribute he did when she died was truly an eye opener. I cannot believe it is almost exactly 2 years.

.

We have learned so much about her and Prince both since they both transitioned. Those Piano and Mic Tours make me weepy. Listening to him sing with such emotion begging God to return Denise back home to him was so heartwrenching. It let me know who the her/she was in those tours. Prince stopped hiding and worrying about his image. You could almost feel the transition. It was like a goodbye tour/tribute to his friend. He gifted us all with that.

The Melbourne concert was just so heartwrenching. Prince was FULL on display that night, revealing so much. For someone that was so private and kept everything real and deep hidden from public, he pouring it out that night. I agree, in the subsequent concerts his references to "she" and "her" were about Denise/ Vanity. He was telling us about her/ them. Prince was always telling a story in his music. It was gift and a wonderful final gift from him.

You may be right. He was pretty discreet about Judith if they were dating.I had never noticed the gif before and it caught my eye when it stopped on that image. The woman's profile looks like her to me.He posted it on March 2nd 2016.I agree that he and Denise shared something very special and I like to think of them together again enjoying their companionship as well.

I'm glad Prince and Denise had a friendship that lasted through the decades. They seemed to be living parallel lives.

I agree that he was hinting here and there that he was in a relationship in later years but this post below says that most likely it was not Judith or any of the women around him at that time. He was private and probably keeping it quiet. No shame there. It is who Prince was- private.

IIRC,I think that was in reply to a photo that he posted of Aunt Esther on Samford and Son though he may have meant it literally too.He posted quite a bit about Judith and he seemed fond of her..I also thought that his playing some of the theme for Memoirs Of A Geisha before the piano mic shows may have been a nod to her.

Just doing more Prince stuff tonight...
Just following up on my original thought here, I am really seeing it.

I was looking at Prince's twitter and some of his deleted tweets from January 2016-April and I saw his tweet about Susan,Brenda,JJ and Apples being at one of the after parties for the piano mic shows and he seemed so excited that they were there. He also appeared to have reconciled with some people. He tweeted Make Friends For Life which made me think of Denise. He was tweeting a lot about his newer friends as well such as Judith,Hannah Welton,Liv and Damaris. It made me feel good to see that.I'm not sure that he was in love or pursuing anyone seriously but it seems he felt he had a lot of love through his friends and that was nice to see.

I cannot believe the anniversary is here already cry cry cry

.

It will always squeeze my heart. This woman was such an inspiration-she will never know. I listen to her sermons and how she handled being such a beautiful woman as she grew older and realized what was really important. It was what she placed in others via her faith. That passionate faith that allowed her to love everyone and everything.

.

She was not about making money off her associations with anyone, she was not running around trying to establish herself just because she once lived with a famous man. She did not show up

decades after her relationship using his creativity for her own dreams or desires. She was Denise. She lived in her world in her way. I admire that so much. . . so much. She had options but was true to herself. She walked away from Prince and Purple Rain because she could not live out his dream. She had her own. . . .she made her own way, fell, and got up and went on . . . such an inspiration, such a one of a kind person.

Thank you for saying that pinkcashmere23. I never understood what people could possibly think he was talking about when he hinted with the lyrics and said… "The Beautiful Ones, you always seem to lose... Vanity had just quit the movie..." Then to follow it up with her tribute dedication and hinted again saying, "She knows about this one." It boggles my mind that some are still saying it was for anyone other than Denise after such connection in both references.

I always wondered if Prince regretted exploiting Vanity in a sexual way? I know she made her own decisions, but she was sexually-abused as a child and Prince basically promoted that to his advantage.

.

Also, the movie: "Never too Young to Die" -- that's just too eerie for me. sad eek

Yes,he was very plain about who the song was for and seemed very upset that people would suggest otherwise.I also found it interesting that he had titled his book The Beautiful Ones.

Prince really loved Denise. I know that fact is hard for some to accept here on the Org; but he definitely loved her, right up till the end. sad

He said Denise was the female version of himself, and that is a very powerful statement, and says a lot of how he felt about her.

.

You can always have deep feelings and genuine love for someone and have it not be in a sexual way. I think that is what Prince and Denise had later in life. They both loved God and understood one another.

Thank you for that tribute to Denise. There are not that many women who I honestly look up to and see as inspirational but Denise aged in grace and still maintained a charming innocence about her as well. She was selfless and of service to others. She was just an amazing woman and as a Prince fan for decades I always felt she was the most special woman to Prince someone extremely special to him , but someone he could never possess...which triggered many ambivalent feelings him him. May the both rest in God's love in heaven. I hope they have both found peace.

Thanks for sharing this Goddess! I saw a preview of this upcoming documentary online somewhere, but I was not a fan of the last documentary REELZ did on Prince. I am glad she's being mentioned though I'm not sure I like how they are presenting her. It was more than just a "fling". And I wish they would've picked someone that looked more like her!

On one hand I am glad they are acknowledging her (when for the most part some of the docs etc I have seen and heard totally ignore her), however, from the footage I have seen the actress does not possess Vanity's charisma.

First I must say she was not even dressed sexy when they met Toban shared the jacket she wore and it was nice but not sexy. These documentaries from REELZ are horrible. That bed scene? No.

NO.

I am glad she is not being ignored as most of the articles/docs about him seem to do but she is catergorized as a fling and we know she was more than that. I also just do not like REELZ they are messy with facts. I am not a fan of their documentaries and they seem to be really onto Prince. I have not liked any of them at all.

.

However I am going to have to watch this one though due to it being about Vanity.
