Check out this interview with Sharon L. Nelson published by the Star Tribune entitled "Music by Prince's father featured on new album, tracking 'that DNA thing'":

Sharon posted the following on Twitter in response to Jon Bream's article:

"Thank you Jon for this wonderful review of our father’s music. The EP is doing well and I enjoyed our chat! #JohnLNelson. EP is available in physical & digital forms everywhere! 🎼💜🎹"

I still wonder why Prince never did anything with his fathers music?

From what's been said, he was hoping that his sister Sharon would eventually do it. Hence the comment, "His music... one day I hope you'll get to hear it!" I must say, after listening, the music is quite good!

I don't like a single track on this project.

I don't, either. I streamed it and found it repetitive, simplistic and boring.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I was able to download the full album today and it sounds great! I love the whole concept and am excited about the project. I really hope it gets some attention from current jazz makers and fans. It would play really well on NPR. My one complaint is that I wish a little more effort was placed in the packaging/artwork.

I liked the album after listening to it this morning as well! I also think it would do well on many of the NPR and jazz stations of radio! Many of your college radio stations are often Jazz stations. I don't think it would hurt to maybe email their program directors to have them check it out smile

thumbs up!
