Manic Monday as is, was a hit. I wish Prince would have done a duet with Brenda and released it, because it would have been a hit. And was a better song than Ooh She Wa Wa. Even though I enjoy it, Manic Monday would have hit.

Brenda has said that she didn't really like "Manic Monday"....she said it is too "pop" and I have to agree smile I don't think that it would have fit well with the other songs on the album. It's interesting, though,to think about all the songs that were considered for the album: "17 Days","Take Me With U","The Glamorous Life",etc....but that's another thread biggrin

Yeah, I know she felt that. But maybe she was thinking in terms of the Vanity 6 image. But even then, I think the song worked with the PR period (and the Parade period) and if Prince insisted it go on the album, she would have done it.

.

I agree that with the selection of songs it was 'different', but even though there was some good stuff on the A6 album, it wasn't cohesive, it didn't really tell a story for me, even watching the mini movie.

But put it with:

Manic Monday

Take Me With U
A Million Miles

Noon Rendezvous

Blue Limousine

17 Days

the Glamorous Life

it works, and it tells of story of a womans journey through life and love/breakup to make it big. Cohesively purple lol

she woulda changed her tune if it made a hit for them, i hear cher didn't like gypsy's tramps and thieves either.

Honestly,I don't think the song would have been a hit for A6.It made perfect sense to give to the Bangles...it was more their style.

That is why I think Prince should have presented it differently. As the Prince(colead) & the Revolution song on the Apollonia 6 album

With only two good songs and the rest sounding like 'fillers" it is no surprise to me.

I remember in the summer of '84,I saw this clip in the original trailer for Purple Rain.I wonder why it was removed from the movie.

This is interesting to see, wonder if they will ever re-release the movie without the deleted scenes? Anyways I have always loved "Ice Cream Castles"; one of my faves by the Time.
