I try not to make this debate personal between you and me. I wish you would try the same...My interpretation of others' words are no reflection on my morality or character. My opinions are also not illegimate because I am newer. (strawmen arguments--please stop.)

I acknowledge that JIll might have issues with P still , but my point was that unless Mark was willing to address her issues with them (regardless of where the roots of the issues comes from) , his post was condensending and pointless.. I don't know Mark or claim to...He puts himself out there in the public eye -- if he has an issue with how he is intrepreted than he should either stay away from the online world or clarify. But the last thing an angry woman like Jill wants to hear after believing she was slighted by this band at a Prince tribute at Paisley is a condensending "You poor thing, why are you yelling at us. We have always been nice to you." like statement that feigns ignorance online. He is hinting that he doesn't understand her anger but her posts state why she is angry and since he too is online, odds are that he has read her rants. Why is he asking like he heard it through the grapevine? Defending the Revolution in an honest way is fine but that question was condescending and disingenious..IMO.

BM actions come off as poking. maybe he is still mad about not going shopping all those years ago with Prince and the girls, now that he feels like he has the upper hand he is doing the same thing, going

shopping with the girls and pushing someone else out. he is in the clique now. taking the public forum to pass/agressively

speak with her says a bunch. He seems desperate for popularity, hard to escape high school wounds.

Yep. I know all of them (including old NPG members of marginal importance) are getting a little extra boost becuase P is gone but they also appreciate that P's life was how they got the boost in the first place. But Mark seems the fakest to me of all of them. Judging from his other statements, he seems like he would alleviate his guilt over secretly being a bit glad P is gone by saying things like "Prince died as a form of self sacrifice/good's will so that his blessed and loyal musical minions can shine.."

I theorize that he wasn't upfront during the Parade days because with the exception of his bass playing, he seems kind of dull. Maybe I am wrong and he has a hidden charisma I am missing (with Mazerati--I don't know) , but Jerome and Wally etc were fun goofballs. They were entertaining for non-musicals reasons. Just going by podcasts, Mark's are are surprisingly dull compared to Jerome's or MOrris Hayes interviews. I am not saying that Mark isn't talented or maybe even a pretty well-intentioned guy but he seems disgenious, self-righteous, and in denial sometimes.

agreed^^^ and yes maybe i don't know, but i haven't seen it. the benefit i do see in him, was

that he was such a goody goody back in the day that P liked people like that around because they

stuck to task, listened to teacher, did as told and they were ok with that. i think having a fair amount of

those types around made P's day to day less complicated. A class full of teachers pets is always easier than a class room filled with Morris Day's and Jimmy jams.

well if you all had done your homework they did. That isn't saying they created it. Even Prince didn't create the Minneapolis Sound. Prince created his own unique brand that we call Purple Music(refer to the 1982 outtake Purple Music by Prince)

.

Prince the noituloveR the Time Vanity 6 Prince & the Revolution Sheila E the Family Mazarati Madhouse pioneered the Minneapolis Sound via Purple Music...

.
This is nothing new. Read interviews by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Jellybean Johnson, Jesse Johnson pre April 2016. Nothing new. Not to mention Prince saying in 1990, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis weren't doing the Minneapolis Sound... uh yeah they were crankin the Minneapolis sound.

Do you not know the defintion of the word Pioneer? Only Jellybean can lay any claim to being a pioneer?

Prince helped create the Minneapolis sound with Andre. Maybe you need to listen to Andre Cymone's interview with Mike Dean he talks about this in great detail explaining how and why they doubled up on the keyboards.

Those associated you named played the music Prince wrote so how could they have pioneered anything. They were associates and Prince was correct Jam and Lewis later on with Janet later albums were not doing the Minneapolis sound at all.

You almost never listen to any of the podcast to know what in the hell is going on.

Who said only Jellybean can lay any claim to being a pioneer

.

Maybe it is you who needs to look the word up. P I O N E E R

.

Even Prince talked about the Minneapolis sound being developed. He wasn't the author of the Minneapolis sound. He was the auther of Purple Music.

.

I don't need to listen to Andre's interview. When I listed all those people Andre is a part of it.
They were Prince's proteges and band extensions being a part of that vision.
The noituloveR is what I call the band prior to 1983. Pepe was also a part of it

.

They were pioneers, because they helped Prince take it to the world. They were a part of the foundation of his music. The look the sound the vibe.
Sorry Control & Rhythm Nation were Minneapolis Sound. Teven Campells Round & Round definately wasn't the Minneapolis Sound.

Jellybean is the only pioneer in that picture.

The others did not grow up on the Northside and pioneered nothing.

Jellybean was around in the Northside so he is a pioneer. You can sit around all day babbling about Purple music. Outside of an outake and a production company name I never heard or read Prince to say anything about distinction between Purple Music or the Minneapolis sound. He did not think the song "Purple Music" was even important enough to put out.

I know you are not going to listen to two two hour interviews with information that blows everything you think out of the water.

Those people do not speak for Andre or Prince. Those were two guys living in the same house and working together none but those two would know certain things and Pepe did not come along until much later on during the time of Grand Central. Pepe's time was short before he got the boot and he stopped being a confindent when he decided to put that 94 East Crap for the next 30 years. I bet Prince would not have thrown water on him if he was on fire.

The Family members were not pioneers they put out one album that they did not even write any of the songs on. Think about how ridculous they look saying this." We all grew up on the Northside and pionneered something. " "One of us cannot even stand the music but I pioneered it. "

According to Jam and Lewis the Janet stuff was not a part of the Minneapolis sound or at least that it what they said back then. What the fuck does Tevin Campbell have to do with this conversation?

You need to take a step back from the computer.

You are the one that brough up Purple music that is not what the announcement states.

It has to do with another dog chasing the Purple Chuck Wagon. Something that Mark is doing with his stupid tweets.

It is like you to respond with pics and nonsense when you cannot answer a question.

I bet if one of the associates was selling P's underware at their concert you would be okay with that as well.

Sigh What does this comment have to do with anything? There is no different between Purple Music and the Minneapolis sound. It is all coming out of Prince's head with other elements such as the latin influnence and real horns being added later

What does For You have to do with anything? Despite that he is multi tracked his voice and doing all of the background signing something he would do the bullk of the time for the rest of his carreer

The point here is "The Family are not pioneers of anything merely a side project.

It is the same thing and you are using the term " Purple Music" which Prince mentioned maybe once in the media if that is you making up something so you can be right. You do it all the time to the point of beig illogical. You will not listen to Andre's interview so remain ignorant.

He made a song called Purple Music and began using it later in life to describe his music

I've listened to a lot of Andre's interviews. Andre also just started listening to Prince's music(full albums after Prince died). Can you say Girls & Boys For the Tears In Your Eyes or SOTT is the Minneapolis Sound? No, but it is Purple Music

I think Prince used that term once. I have read a lot of about the man in over 30 plus years and Purple Music was not a term that was used to describe his music other then in that one song that only hard core fans even know about. You have an over active imagination.

Do you really think Andre just started listening to Prince' s music recently? If you believe that one I want to sell you the Brooklyn bridge. All of those songs you listed are deviritives of the Minneapolis sound which came out of Prince's head that sound was going to grow and change over the course of 40 years was not going to stay the same over a 40 year period. eek

No he used it other times.

Also You yourself criticized Andre for the same thing. When HE himself said, he never listened to another Prince album after he left the band. He didn't say he never heard or listened to a song. He said he never listened another another album. And talked about how amazed he was at the stuff.

Everyone’s issues with any of Prince’s past seem to all stem from one era. Any issues that Jill has had with people playing his music or even Elisa Fiorillo taking issue with others all of the complaints seemed aimed at 80’s band members or people around Prince. I don’t see too much complaint with Andre Cymone fronting the NPG an era of Prince music that Andre is really not attached too and at that point who knows if the two were on speaking terms. It is interesting the selective outrage people have.

Of4s can you give examples?

Any examples yet?

What do you know of Larry Grahams career outside of Sly & the Family Stone?

Don't look anything up. Just reply with an answer.

You said he has espcially benefitted, I’m asking you to provide the details.

There is a BIG difference between the Minneapolis Sound and Purple Music

SEE YOUR POST #337

what is the difference between the Minneapolis Sound and Purple Music?

I’m trying to understand your post. It seemed like you were saying there was a difference whilst saying there is no difference. Trying to make sure what I’m reading is infact what you are saying. Post 337 was confusing.

There is an interview with Andre with (maybe Questlove). And he talks about
Being asked to front the Revolution but decided to go with npg
Because things were not right with the Revolution option. He doesn’t
Say directly but there is not doubt that he didn’t feel right
About whatever direction they were wanting to go.

I believe Andre has indicated that they were on talking terms within the last five years of P's life.

I can only do that when you tell me what you know of Larry Graham (without looking anything up) I will definately tell you the details

Are you familiar at all with LGs career?

Basically by 1996 Prince was heavily promoting and presenting LG way into 2015

There is a difference, but a connection

right

I think people are taking issue with what seems to be a 'perma' placing Andre as the frontman for the NPG right now though. I believe there was something recently stated about that.
