You still here? I asked a question, that's all.

You are still asking a question that the answer is obvious to.

You do not have to like me but do not let that make you delusional.

the heirs should have first rights to the trademark. I don’t think they were advised about the implications. That name is worth millions which could be used to fund a school, music programs at PP or other organizations Prince supported. M2 will use this for her own foundation. I will never support anything she is involved with

It was six days after he died. I am not sure Bremer had even got started working on the estate when she did this. She jumped on it so quickly for that reason. I will never support anything she is involved in and I will make sure this tidbit spreads.

Do you think the estate can sue to reclaim the trademark? It was well-known and obviously a product of Prince's mind. Could her jumping in so fast to nail it down as hers be unravelled in court as somehow illegal because of the chaos surrounding his death and his sisters' statement that there was no will? And also, did he GIVE her this non-profit while he was alive or did he just fund it and let her run it? Thanks in advance for any clarity. VERY DISTURBING.

I am not sure the estate can do anything about t ehis because she may have just beat them to the punch. I also believe this was his charity that he let her run. Take a look at two other things we know happened with it.

1) Patrick Cousins some how stole a church that was owned by L4OA.

2) Payments were made to individuals and actual business and not all to non-profits. One of the business was the touring company Smitty Boykins which was Eric Benet's touring company.

I think M2 was up to shady stuff for a while before they even divorced and that the house knocking down was a sure sign of more then just a mutrual decsion to separate.

I don't know MN law, or if they would have had to have formal legal proceeding to dissolve the foundation, but without their charitable status after 2007 they wouldn't have been able to receive money in a tax-deductible manner, so wouldn't have a way to operate. Some foundations are set up to automatically dissolve through the spending down of all assets, which may be what happened there if they gave everything to JW's after the divorce. I can't imagine the L4OA accounts still having assets after all these years without an IRS charitable tax status, but I guess anything's possible. If they did, and the entity was still in existence, I would assume Kirk would still have legal rights over assets, but I'm only familiar with how things work in NY and DC/MD/VA.

[Edited 12/2/17 21:22pm]

There are two parcels of land across the street from Paisley Park that show the charity as the owner and the care of owner being Bremer Trust.

Interesting. That may mean that the legal entity still exists. But trademark law works such that it's really you (or your representatives) that have to make sure everything's kept up to date. If not, anyone really can claim it.

Change it one more time..

But why her? Shes his ex-wife. Out of all the people in the world and what made her race to do that? What made her think to do that so soon after he died? Was his family aware and gave their blessings? Thats just a gap for me.

Sorry. I wasn't attempting to wade into that controversy. I don't have answers to those questions. I would like to see something good come of that legacy though.

I'm just going to drop this here because it showed up on my feed recently so random it's her interview around the same time of all this regarding Prince and L4OA.
Maybe I get a kick out of the conniption fits this is sure to bring.

http://www.rollingstone.c...rk-w460865

I have no clue what's going on. Given what I've seen so far all this could be playing out in a number of ways, I think I've ran every scenerio in my head. I've got some big question marks I know that, Nothing to do but watch and see what the players do. Guess I'll find another stoop, at least with my old stoop I kinda knew what to expect, but now I have no clue who these people are and what they're going to rain down on us.

You're just posting an interesting tidbit, nothing against you! I had forgotten about this gem of an interview. Thanks for posting it. But what makes this one interesting is that it was published exactly when the divorce records were unsealed and also one must ask why would The Rolling Stone approach Prince's second ex-wife for an interview that was quite promotional piece for her? After all, she is a nobody without a Prince connection she lost years ago. Then perfectly timed, this interview was published. I would bet money she pitchced it to do damage control.
She was calculating, conniving and opportunistic back starting in '97. Why wouldn't she be after his death?

shrug Tyka said he gave instructions over the 3 years to various people what he wanted done. Did it include this? I haven't the foggiest idea but I haven't the foggiest idea it didn't. But given it's a charity and she specializes in charity work the odds just might be, maybe, still don't know for sure anything's possible. Sooooo, back to the new stoop I go.

That would make sense but there’s no way of verifying that. She’ll just say he told her to and with Prince gone there’s no way to prove it. I guess we’ll never know.

In that article, clear as day it says she reached out to Prince to pick the location of the school that she wanted to create in his honor. "She was unable to connect with him...or something like that is saying Prince didn't want what she was pushing...I'm going to support Paisley Park and things pertaining to Prince.

She claims fake gratitude. The fact that prince fans gave money for a second school is like no, support Tyka's school for prince and Paisley park. She even says she was shocked to get that fan support. Yeah not no more. You is fake as fake can be.

Prince clearly was not having anything to do with her...sounds like let's follow his energy. He knew

That's right.
Let's be honest. From what we have seen with Mani since his passing, and what we know about her from at least their divorce onwards, I simply cannot believe a word she says.

Absolutely! He wanted nothing to do with her. Which is why he didn't respond to her strange request to build a school for him after all that had happened...it's like, "Really??!" He probably just shook his head and set proper boundaries with no response.
Another self-serving motive on he part, really.
He knew his legacy was in tact without that.
It wouldn't have been that he didn't care about the kids; he just knew there were other ways he was supposed to help.

That's IF - and this is a BIG "IF" - she even made that call.

If it's not active then what's the big hoopla? She obviously isn't making any bank off of it nor getting any brownie points from celebrities for having it at this time. And Tyka said "to various people", which means he gave instructions to more than just her, and we have no idea to whom, when those instructions were given or for what. It's all a big wait and see what people do right now.

—The big hoopla is she did this a few days after he died and the second document for Finger Prince is for merchandise. I believe she thought there was a will and if she was am heir she could exploit his image and name. This was her thinking a few days after he died. What does that tell you about her? I will say it is not so a hoopla to me because she gave me greedy vibes from the Smithy Boykins mess, her comments after the divorce, divorce documents, whack as memorial and her Facebook post. This is really the icing on the cake 🎂.

Honestly, it tells me nothing. All of this outside of the fact she registered some names for charity usage is you filling all the gaps based on a handful of sentences spread out over a few articles. We're coming up on 2 years since all that took place and where's the money? I obviously can't say there isn't anything shady going on, there very well could be, I don't know these people but since there nothing here showing she's making a dime right now, I'm not sure what there is to get excited about.

And why would an ex-wife who is re-married with kids of her own expect to be in the will of an ex-husband that isn't even talking to her (your words)? Who also witnessed this same ex burn the 1st exes stuff, and bulldoze houses when those chapters in his life is over, in other words he doesn't tend to leave certain things dangling. Now I know she isn't getting her business education from various tv shows, that's the kind of stuff they put on tv to shortcut the storylines and stuff, not exactly the kind of thing that transfers to reallife. As much as some women hate her, she still runs her own charity/business seemingly successfully so she has some clue about what's real. There's no cake let alone some icing.

This is not about if she knows how to run a business or charity. It's about the principle of it. How does someone take ownership of something they did not create? —-Sorry she made a statement that there was a will when she married to him. She had no way of knowing if she was still in that will or not a few days after his death. Stop pretending that second trademark is not for merchandise. She has made no money and will not make any money because she did inherit anything which she certainly did not know the day he died.
Would you be thinking about trademarks if someone you claimed to love had just died? Would change your religion to get with a married man and the leave that religion when you got your payout? Would you lie about contact with a man to get your name in the paper?

But all of that is one and a half plus years old, and what has she done with it? That's what I'm asking. I know she COULD do things but being able to and actually doing it is 2 completely different things. This isn't the Minority Report where you put someone on trial for something they haven't done yet, heck even in that movie you had to have a consensus of some very special people who actually saw the future of what was going to take place, not simply some random soap opera guessing at what someone MIGHT do. Ok yeah, she's said some questionable sentences over the years that CAN be taken in more than one way, omg, how rare does somebody around here do that? And her husband sang some songs, omg, let's get the kindling. If not one person attached to the Estate (there's at least 6 individual full grown adults minimum) is bitching about it, then how do you KNOW she did NOT have permission? Show me the money.

Uh, Mayte made a statement too that he had a will. Making a statement that he did something and expecting something out of it, again is NOT the same thing. I took it that all she was saying was that Prince didn't have a thing against wills, big whoop. At the time a divorce is final, in most states, the ex-spouse is NOT eligible in a will, most adults know this already, anything else is soap opera crap that keeps being forced into these silly little fan-fictions over and over again like that somehow makes it fact. And that religion thing, how many instances have you seen where somebody converts to being catholic or jewish or some other thing for their spouse to be, don't act like that something so rare. Isn't that changing your religion to be with a man/woman? Are you standing in judgment of everyone who has done that? Show me proof she lied.

Manuela didn’t convert to her boyfriend or husband’s religion. She pretended she was studying Jehovah’s Witness when she schemed her way into working at Paisley Park selling Prince souvenirs and t-shirts after graduating from college.
