35 years ago, "Nasty Girl" by Vanity 6 was the #1 dance song

It was #1 for 4 consecutive weeks in November. cool I was born in the 80s so I'm too young to have been there but I'm sure club goers had a great time dancing to "Nasty Girl".

The song was then displaced by Prince' s "1999"

That beat - at the beginning still gets people on the floor to this day. Prince out did himself with this song.

It is so old and so good and still gets everybody up on the floor.

That 1982-1992 decade was crazy: Prince was literally competing with himself with songs he released under his own name, songs released as side projects, songs given to other artists and the occasional successful cover struggling with each other on the charts. It's like when Kiss was #1 and Manic Monday #2. It would be fascinating to compile all the singles and albums charts lists on Pvault and Wikipedia and see how often Prince's music was on the charts at the time!

.

It must have been quite exhilarating for him! Reaching that level of success is almost too much for one man lol

He really ruled the music world. I love that he had so much music out there. It never stopped with him. His protoges to the end and people he collaborated with you hear his genius in the lyrics and it is kind of him to give them credit for his genius.
