Ok

I'm 99.9% done with this whole thing.

.

I don't know if JJ bought the PR Deluxe and had access to the actually booklett with notes, but here is another example of people taking advantage of her sensitive space and doing/saying things to get her riled up and taking advantage of her for their own selfish socialpathic purposes. I wonder how many people here saying 'Go Jill' even looked into this to see if there is any grounds? My guess is no.

.

1. (In the Kitchen) Can someone tell me where did anyone refer to Jill Jones as being (In the Kitchen) as far as the recordings go??

.

Now look at how it this whole thing was spun into a racial crap fest?

.

Nothing in the booklet disparaged Jill Jones at all. The credits parts was all over the place, just like Prince had it originally in 1984. I mean JJ wasn't the only one not included on certain songs, so was David Coleman not included on We Can Fuck. And who is the woman on the Time's Ice Cream Castles that I've never seen or heard of?
I'm thinking everyone bitching about this haven't even taken the time to read the booklett, much less own the PR deluxe. Maybe they are a bunch of moaners who refused to even buy it as a 'protest' against the family and Estate.

.

Ok here we go

"Wait Till The Fans Hear This"
Audio engineer Susan Rogers on recording Purple Rain

(for all those who don't have it, they only talked about the soundtrack songs and some ATWIAD songs)

.

Moving tape machine from the driveway back into his home studio, it falls. My instinct to protect equipment kicks in (literally) and I brace the fall with my foot, breaking a toe. In Prince's kitchen the next morning Jill Jones asks, "What happened to your foot?" "I dropped Prince's wallet on it." I reply.
He laughs. "I like that. That's sexy."
.
Ok let's review. Susan Rogers is talking about a day/night when she was at Prince house to do further work on Let's Go Crazy. That morning Jill Jones asks Susan what happened to her foot.
They are all in the kitchen at Prince's house.
Someone please tell me how this is some racial erasing of (women of color/black women) and any kind of slight to Jill Jones? This had nothing to do with credits. This was just Susan Rogers talking about something that happened to her, a little fun episode, and Jill Jones was with Prince in his kitchen that morning. Um that sounds like a + for JJ in that possibly she spent the night with Prince or came over that morning for breakfast or to get a day started, maybe do some vocal recording.

How did this turn into a racial protest?

.

If you read the next page(6) Susan Rogers talks about liking to bake. And it is here talking about cooking for Prince 'scrambled eggs and hot chocolate around dawn' I like to bake and he had a sweet tooth, so he would, on rare occasions, drop a large hint that hot chocolate made the old fashioned way, with scalded milk, cocoa and sugar, would hit the spot.

.

hmmm that is about Susan Rogers(European-American & (lesbian)) in Prince's house/kitchen serving him.

.

on to the next section

FEARLESSLY BREATHE IN THE...

PURPLE RAIN

The Revolution Track -By- Track

THE BEAUTIFUL ONES

Brownmark: The ballads were hard for me because when we were recording them I would almost tfall asleep or be in the kitchen somewhere. I would hear what they were doing and play my bass one-handed and make sure I hit the notes.

If anyone remembers Brownmark in the few interviews he's done in the past, he talked about rehearsals that went for hours or into the night or early morning and how he would walk his bass to the kitchen and fix himself a sandwich.

Brownmark in the kitchen, not Jill Jones.

BABY I'M A StAR
Lisa:I remember going into Sunset Sound to record background vocals for it after we had recorded it live. We were adding a couple of parts, and Jill Jones and I were at the mic singing the chorus parts, "Staaaaaaaar Wooo!" And for some reason, we had an uncontrollable giggle attack. We tried to keep singing, but by the last set of choruses we were crying, fully hysterical. Prince was really annoyed and begged us to get it together on the talk back: "Come on! STOP IT!" But we couldn't! I think you can hear the difference in the background vocals at the end. It's all Prince because Jill and I ran outside, never to be seen again.

Ok here we have another example of memories and feelings of a song. Where Lisa Coleman talks about her and JJ singing on Baby I'm A Star, most of us not even knowing until this moment that JJ and Lisa came in to do some extra vocals. She didn't talk about JJ being in the kitchen, she didn't talk about JJ in any disparaging way. This is not the words of someone who has it out for JJ or wants to erase her from musical memory.

You'll notice Lisa has no problem mentioning Jill singing backing vocals when talking about Baby I'm a Star even though Jill is not credited officially on that one either. Well also because she says it's "all prince" I guess lol

[Edited 9/5/17 12:42pm]

Ive always thought it was Wendy doing the backwards masking on that one but now thinking about it, the 'tone' seems like Jills.

No Lisa explained it was She and Jill doing extra vocal work on the song. Not the backward masking
