<offtopic>it's obvious the US never did learn that nationalism, when taken too far, is not very healthy. Maybe in Europe we've felt it a bit more in recent centuries, but then the US is the new kid on the block, it needs to mature a bit still.

Sheila is not the one to determine that the nation is in dire distress, to have the upside down flag. That would be the President to declare that.

why would you say the US never learned that?

was the USA Declaration of Independance post or pre Englands Parlament?

But it still goes back to -if the flag is disrespected, it might not go well with the disrespector.
