Why?

BEcause he's a lawyer??

Whatever imperfections this guy may have, he was the only guy who had the guts to admit that he felt guilty about Prince's death because he felt he should have done more.

Him being a lawyer has nothing to do with my not being hip on him.

Is there a rule that I have to be hip on him? lol

I'm not hip on a lot of his inner circle because they should have done more. That's for darn sure. Never in my life have I seen a bunch of friends sit around and pick their noses, when their friend needed them the most.

And...I know, I know, you can't blame anyone but Prince. But for darn sure, if I seen one of my friends looking like Prince did and failing before our very eyes, I would help them with what ever they needed.

I love Van Jones and I think in hindsight this was a "I would have done this differently, I should have done this differently" moment in the midst of grief when he uttered he could have done more. Ultimately we have no way of knowing what was happening behind the screens with his inner circle. We just know someone that someone made call. Anyways I have a family member with an addiction and it is a terrible thing to experience because no matter how much you want to help the person they have to want the help in order for treatment to successful.

regardless of my distaste for VJ, as always, I appreciate your posts, Latin, and I will watch when I have time later.

P.S.- for those saying "why? because he's a lawyer?" No, as a matter of fact this idiot WITH HIS OWN MOUTH said that he and others were "riding the purple train" -FACT...and if I need to provide the link, I WILL.

Edit to add: Nice clip....still don't like VJ

But love your posts, Latin-keep 'em comin'

All I know is Van was the first person in the 'circle' to show any emotion immediatly after Prince died. Sure, we had the twwets and Facebook postings, but he was the first one to step up and share his grief on television. And it wasn't for profit either- how is he going to make money by crying on television? I felt his pain. He will forever have to live with his own 'Why didn't I do this or this or this' to help my friend. Let him be.

Still all this foolishness about people doing something. If Prince sent everyone away how could they do something? He wanted to be alone and we still do not know if drugs were his only problem.

Only so much people can do about joint pain and pain pills. He was getting old and no one can hold back the hands of time.

Sorry for doing this on your thread Latin. I didn't know 1 comment would start an argument. It was just a comment on how I feel about him. I didn't say how anybody else should feel about him.

I used to like Van, but now I'm not so hip on him.

Very nice, as usual, thanks for posting Latin. I dig the way that Van Jones always explains what a giver Prince was.

Me too...

Every Time Van opens his mouth about Prince, he never misses the opportunity to highlight Prince the Humanitarian, the guy who gave without wanting ANY Credit for himself...

More than that Van is taking things forward..His #lovearmy movement is directly inspired by Prince

and I think its aVans way of stepping Up in his own capacity.

He has my respect for that..

I appreciate Van telling people what Prince was like. If it hadn't been for that on 4/21, I and many other day might not have known and come to love Prince so.
Van is an emotional guy by nature...I like that about him. Prince noticed this and said, "You seem like you really care." Prince also said tough things happen to people like that sometimes.
Prince was so wise.
As for blame or fault around Prince passing there really is none.
Blame and fault don't always exist.

Thanks for posting this. I like how Van Jones always mentions Prince´s philantrophic side and what a kind soul he was.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I think Van is legitimately a nice guy trying to do positive things..And I'm sure Prince saw that in him as well.
Until the end of time
