Cat Glover Issues Statement About Ongoing Prince Tributes

Ok guys I've spent a lot of time working how to put this !! Sorry I took a while. I'm just gonna say it. !! My business manager Hayley Drinkall feels the same too !!!

I am so sick and tired of people doing tributes here and there to Prince. I would like everyone who has worked with Prince that have toured with him to do the Ultimate Tribute Concert. Ego's left aside !!! This will be my ultimate tribute to Prince.

From the original first band lineup to the last band lineup Prince had. Go through every line up from the very beginning to the very last.

So for example --as follows-- we go from the first tour line up of Gayle Chapman, Lisa Coleman, Matt Fink, Andre Cymone , Dez Dickerson then to the controversy tour for which The Time starting appearing as opening act and Bobby Z joined playing the drums with Brown Mark on the bass. To 1999 with Vanity 6 and Time as opening acts of course we haven't got Vanity rest her soul but we have got Brenda Bennet and Soozie Moonsie with Jill jones joining the band line up of Prince Dez Matt Brown Mark Lisa Coleman and Bobby Z. Then we got the Purple Rain Tour complete with Wendy, Brown Mark, Matt Fink , Lisa Coleman and Bobby Z with Eric Leeds on Sax. The Parade Tour with Miko Weaver , Atlanta Bliss, Susannah and Jerome joining the band. Then of course we come to Sign O The Times Tour with Miko Weaver Levi Seacer Jr Matt Fink Boni Boyer 1f49c.pngπŸ’œ Shelia E on the drums , Eric Leeds , Atlanta Bliss and Me Cat Glover !!! ....and so on right up to the NPG era and lastly the Hit N Run shows

So we are covering each era of Prince's career in one show ,if you feel me , and the people that were part of that era in order. Sorry if I missed anyone out --then taking it all the way to 3rdeyeGirl.

But the most important thing is that we are all coming together to represent what Prince was about and pay tribute to a man who put us all on the musical map. So instead of people drifting apart we should be drifting together for us to put on the greatest show on earth to a man who was the greatest artist on this earth and always will be !!!!!

Love Cat Glover 1f49c.pngπŸ’œ1f49c.pngπŸ’œ1f49c.pngπŸ’œ1f49c.pngπŸ’œ

Who would like to see that kinda tribute ????

Her sentiment is very sincere no doubt...

Getting them all together would be a major feat, not only trying to co ordinate their scedules

but the financials..

This is my thought, too.

Cat's idea is wonderful, and would be an amazing and absolutely perfect tribute and I'd be there if I had to crawl miles and miles on hands and knees to be there for it. But organizing such a large tribute and getting all those people able to come together and working around their individual work schedules, family responsibilities and everything would be essentially impossible to pull off. sad And like Lovejunky said, then there is the financial aspect of such a tribute.

*

Cat's heart and intentions are in a beautiful place and many fans would love nothing more than her idea to happen, but I think it will remain only a dream

I also love Cat's idea. Perhaps it could be staged as a 2-3 day summer music festival at Paisley Park or whatever MLPS venue is deemed suitable. Of course, if it's held at PP, only a fraction of those wanting to attend would be able to do so, unless there is space on the grounds to hold it outdoors.

I love it too but who would coordinate it. We saw the disaster that was the official tribute. Morris, bless his heart, tried but one person musically directing a big show like that is damn near impossible.

A week from now Cat Glover is going to air out Sheila E and any other assiociate old and new for the pettiest reason. Sounds ideal but don't believe that'll happen. At least in the immediate future.

It is possible if the musicians want to get together and do it. If they work with a real promoter like Live Nation a music festival could happen.

It is possible. But it would take some time.
I think people need to be allowed to 'feel this out' right now.
Just doing a tribute like that right now, especially in such a wacky period I think might be too soon.
There are many people who probably cannot do it or whatever.
I've thought this too, or something similar.
And I want 2 say I'm loving Cat for 'appreciating' everyone, and not bashing anyone. It is a wacky time where many are still in forms of greiving.

I personally would be happy with the 1978-1988 people doing a full tribute together.

The 1990-1996 do a full tribute

1997-2004 2005-2010 2010-2015 etc

I’m not knocking Morris. He had an impossible job. And just the way the whole thing came together was a mess. Of course he had nothing to do with that.

Morris Hayes did do a wonderful job, but it was also incredibly stressful and emotionally taxing on everyone involved so soon after 4/21...

This type of thing, Cat Glover's idea, will have given folks room and time to grieve and calm nerves and coordinate schedules, etc...

I think this is a good ideal with the right people to organize it, I mean Motown did a 25th anniversity show, they got back all the folks and worked around people schedules. it could be on Network TV, or an HBO concert, I truely think it could work with the right people in charge, Who that is I don't know.

Sheila E also did a wonderful job in 2001 with the Charity show where she got a LOT of the associate artist together

Perhaps there could be a small committee with 1-2 representatives from each line-up's era.

Obviously it's going to take time to plan we all have schedules etc but your point about people feeling it out ---that's why we posted. Also I think it's something that can be brought UK Europe way too as not everyone can get to Minneapolis

I meant more or less time in people mentally - emotionally catching up to the idea.
I think it is a good idea. But I don't know if one set Tribute of the bands from beginning to end might be bloated.
Again, a great Idea, and happy about Cat's optimism. Would love 2 C her lead a song with the Revolution

Nope. I like the competition. If anything it will motivate them to perform better. Right now the NPG is killing 'em in Europe and that's how I believe Prince would have wanted it. cool

It's a wonderful sentiment. Personally I am done with tributes but I am sure plenty of people will participate. Best wishes.

This doesn’t have to be either/or. I still think Prince deserves a Freddie Mercury style tribute.

I think this is a fantastic idea and this is one that I would scrape together money to attend a two day event. A musical festival honoring his entire career span by those who were involved during each era, love it; absolutely love it.

It's laughable that she is the one calling for this. Someone who has hated on everyone for doing what they do. They woudn't touch her with a 10 foot pole.

Thanx for posting this Latin.

Wonderful idea from Cat. This can be held in multiple day set up but yes hella lot of work. There is a great opportunity to properly pay tribute to our great Prince and get all of the band members and associates together to represent what Prince stood for and believed in, real music by real musicians.
