And you keep ignoring what Miko said in the book. Short of taking a screen shot of the actual page in the book what evidence would you need? Do you believe that someone posted about the topic on Prince.org and made up that Miko said this in the book? Is that what you are trying to say?

The book passage is in GoggleReads but in German. Do you need for it to be translated to belived it is in the book.

Honestly how do I act like the internet does not exist when I'm the one posting all the factual pertinent information and U are posting bogus Org discussions that go now where. And then say 'from Miko's mouth' and then when I post the full conversation from a Miko interview you keep fighting it. For the sake of fighting it.

And U post another bogus thread, which leads to the same bogus arguement that it is about women. Did U post from the book or from what an org member alleges is in the book?

Miko and Prince fist fight over chicks?

I read a few pages of "Possessed" last night. I got it for my birthday June 9th, anyway there was an account about Miko and Prince going to blows because Miko was trying to bang all of Prince's girls.

Are you joking? I hope you are because if you are not you are embarrassing yourself and I fee embarassed for you.

You do not have to translate anything there are free translators on-line. How do you not know this? Miko said he thought that Prince was really mad about the girls leaving the clubs with him and the whole thing about the guitar being loud was not the real reason he was being nasty toward him.

I do not own Posssessed I checked it out from the libary so I am just going off my memory and I added the Org post to show that it had been discussed before by others.

What exactly about his bothers you? That Prince was a typical man with an out of control ego when it came to women? He wanted to be the Alpha dog 24/7. Why is this a surprise?

Laurarichardson, U played yourself a long time ago

Why should I have to go thru that. When U should just post it. Ah therein lies the problem. And I do mean lie. U have not read it yourself which is why U keep fighting this and sending me bogus Org links that go no where. I know U like fighting with people obviously.

But let it go. U R clearly trying to hold onto an allegation over fact.
Well I own the book. I'll do the work for you then and look it up post it and take your stuff and wrap you up with it and fling it down like a yo yo to prove what I said was still correct. That line was joking.

this reminds me of something that Morris Day once said (jokingly,I assume).....he was talking about all the women who would be trying to "get with him" backstage after The Time concerts in the early 80s

"I would take some of these women, put a bow on them, and send them to Prince's room.I was being generous. They really wanted me"

No one here is disputing the Vanity connection.
Anyone who has been a fan for 10+ years and into the hardcore background/bootleg part of this, knew that the song was about Vanity. Jill Jones did not say anything new.

But songs that stretch out over periods of time, sometimes being resurrected for something fresh are easily applied to someone else. I know a lot of lady Prince fans channel their favorite female protege and champion them, to the point they cannot see this. But men do this all the time.

Indeed, as Prince got to know Vanity, he enjoyed her company less and less; her forward, abrasive personality annoyed him, as he tended to prefer more demure women. The unreleased song "Wonderful Ass," describing an unhinged nymphomaniac, was about Vanity, engineer (Susan)Rogers said. "He was in many ways a prude; she offended him in many ways, offended his sensibility." Rogers observed. "He liked good girls."

There is apparently a dispute about this song, otherwise there wouldn't be need for this thread. So I'm not sure what you mean that *I* need to stay with the train of thought. You have been suggesting that this song was inspired by more than one person or started with one and ended with another. Fine, I get that and it may be the case with some of Prince's songs. I do not believe that is the case with this song. If Jill said that he gifted the song to Vanity and she WITNESSED it and Vanity playing the song before the shows of the 1999 Tour, then that means it was FOR HER and that SHE inspired the lyrics. Why are you people turning this into a convoluted mess and throwing Susannah into the mix? Who cares? Only people who have some vested interest in propping up Susannah do what you are doing. He did not gift it to her, it was not for her. The lyrics were not inspired by her. It's quite simple. The lyrics started about Vanity and ended about her.

I know many of you are HUGE Alex Hahn fans and his book are bibles on Prince. Sorry, based on his most recent book and information that was incorrect, I do not feel he is worthy resource. Susan Rogers is another one who has put out this narrative that Susannah was the one for Prince and that she was a "good and smart" girl. Look at what you quoted up above that she said about Vanity in Hahn's first book. BIG SHADE right there. disbelief

This book shouldn't even be quoted anymore. The amount of wrong info about Vanity that is debunked after reading Blame it on Vanity is embarrassing.

A lot of the info is wrong and people claim they were misquoted. Unfortunately, there comments are in the book and we have Jill's eyewitness account as far as Susan R saying Prince was annoyed with her I am sure he was because appears she did not take any shit of him and wanted to do what he wanted to do without being questioned. Sorry but he should have been with a women who would have made him sit his ass down and retire instead of killing himself working. He needed a wife like Vanity to stand up to him and kick him in the ass. Not some women that wanted a business or a singing carreer.

2. Susan Rogers said in 1983 that the song revolved around Prince and Vanity.

3. Lisa Coleman did not say anything contradictory to that.

4. The song was brought out again and as life goes further inspiration can be added to any song. Vanity was not Prince's girlfriend then or in the camp, in 1985. And even though a song can be about a particular person it can still be about a broader subject.

.

5. Susan Roger -never said the song was about Susannah. Lisa Coleman was only talking about the playful energy that obviously She & Prince had in connection to the song and their girlfriends asses. This does not take away the origins of Vanity & Prince's issues in the song.

3. See the article below which was orignally from an interview in the Star Tribune. This is directly from Lisa. This is Lisa contridicting what Susan Rogers said. This is from this month June 2017.

http://diffuser.fm/prince-wonderful-ass/

2017 interview with the Star Tribune about “Wonderful Ass” and the other newly released tracks on this, the first major archival release since Prince’s untimely death last April, Revolution keyboardist Lisa Coleman reveals that the lighthearted song was inspired by the impressive posteriors of both her longtime collaborator and Revolution bandmate Wendy Melvoin and Wendy’s twin sister Susannah — who Prince was romantically involved with at the time.

“Wendy and her twin sister, Susannah, are pretty famous for having nice butts,” Coleman explains. “And Prince did have one of the world’s cutest butts. Prince was dating Susannah, and I was with Wendy. It was us being goofy about our girlfriends. I sang co-lead with Prince. It was a happy-go-lucky time.”

THANK YOU Laura! I don't see anything in this excerpt that suggests it's about Vanity- quite the opposite.

And no it is not an exaggeration that the Wendy/ Lisa/ Susan Rogers clan has inserted Susannah as inspiration to other songs that were big of that time- The Beautiful Ones, If I was Ur Girlfriend, Adore, Empty Room, and Strange Relationship namely. I'm not buying anything coming from Susan Rogers or W & L. They were not in Prince's head and made assumptions and now pushing them as facts. I trust what Jill witnessed.

So, just to balance the debate (I don't care either way I'm neutral) people are willing to believe Jill because it fits what they believe? Even though this is a memory from 35 years ago. And didn't she have beef with Susannah back then? I seem to recall there was some animosity.

Jill fits what was believed? So whenever we have discussion abiut Jill someone always tries to make her out to be angry or loony.

I think that is such a disservice to her. Jill can have her opinion. This thread has enough information and no need for more debate. I think Jill's words are just as valid as anyone else's at that time.

I see no reason to always try to villify Jill.

So, just to balance the debate (I don't care either way I'm neutral) people are willing to believe Jill because it fits what they believe? Even though this is a memory from 35 years ago. And didn't she have beef with Susanna back then? I seem to recall there was some animosity.

---Do you think she is senile and cannot remember what she saw with her own eye? Why are the bi-racial women telling lies or having a faulty memory and Susanna the rigthous one? Do you have any idea how that looks? As far as songs are concerned Jill has said she has a log, Vanity according to her brother had a diary, letters, and a book. Eric Leeds claims he has log of the songs he played on so when he starts bitching because he did not credit is he going to be treated as a looney too. Some of you need to check your Melvoin worship.

So he COULD'VE written something in '79 & pulled it out on a girl in '94 & told her it was inspired by her. And she'd be none the wiser. 😂

Yep lol

But the beautiful thing about art...

Especially if it is not complete is that someone else (even if it is a non-romantic situation) maybe it is a female/male friend/family/coworker going through a similar situation that the song deals with and the artist/Prince finds new inspiration in the song, pulls it out and takes it to a new level...

Do you mean what she said in regards to Wonderful Ass being about Vanity? She wasn't the only one that said it. It's been known for years. The same person (Susan Rogers) that has great things to say about Susannah, and touts all of the other songs being about Susannah (that everyone here believes) confirmed WA being about Vanity, albeit not before throwing in an insulting comment about Vanity mind you. Go back a few post to see said comments from SR. Let's be honest though, I don't think people are really confused with who the song is about. Everyone pretty much knows that Wonderful A$$ was about Vanity. The suspicion lies with why Lisa omitted that particular information only to feature Susannah as the inspiration of yet another song at a time when WA is gaining popularity. Away from here, that's what everyone is talking about. It's not a debate per se about who inspired the song.

Luvgirl, you aren't looking at this clearly.
.
Susan Rogers did not say anything insulting about Vanity.
Just look at the lyrics to the song. Prince is evaluating her and reducing her to having a wonderful ass. Yes playful and tongue in cheek, but it is what it is. And Vanity was not in a good place. Let's not act like Vanity was 'stable' she was using Coccaine. As I said before, if Denise Matthews was alive today, what would she say if questioned about the song?

.

There is no suspicion. Lisa was not talking about credit, she was just recapping the energy and fun around working on the song. Remember she worked on it and song with Prince. And she again never highlighted Susannah as the focal point. She said PRINCE had a nice butt, and she and Prince were talking about their girlfriends (Wendy & Susannah's) butts. No where did she say it was all about Susannah's Butt.

whenever we have discussion abiut Jill someone always tries to make her out to be angry or loony.

I wonder why. It wouldn't be that she acts angry or loony, right?
