musician interview(mentions Prince's pay) frank McComb

https://www.youtube.com/w...fwLy2uyNlY

Frank McComb stated in this interview that occassionaly he would turn down paychecks in order to earn P's respect, but he also stated that Prince paid quite well, much more than what he was used to.

Very respectful interview. I especially like that he even brings up the large paychecks when asked if there was something he would like people to know about Prince--as if he had been hearing stories about the folks in the old days saying they weren't paid enough and wanted to show that in his experience, it wasn't the case.

Thank you for sharing. That was a very nice thing to relay. I did hear as well that he was very generous in his later years. The photographer Maya said as much as well. I think the reason for the low pay back in the day was due more in part to the fact that he wasn't where he needed to be financially just yet.

NOt many complaints about pay past maybe Rosie Gaines and even Rosie was talking more about royalty and credit. Even when Mayte talked about it, it was if Prince was somewhat unaware of the low pay and took steps to increase the pay once her dad brought it up with him.. I don't recall any complaints after that.

Beyond the fact that Prince was a mogul on a recording artist's budget back in the day, it is possible that P(in his youth) had no perception about the price of living once he started to make it. I know he had a rough patch financially when he was a teenager but that was in the 70's and it wasn't long before managers stepped in. He knew what it was like to be dirt poor but he may not have known what it was like to be middle class or working class with a family.

Maybe he just paid people what he could afford back in the day. Remember he was in debt to WB right up until the 1999 album and he was fighthing with WB when Mayte came along so why in God's green earth did she think she was going to get PR type money is beyond me.

Maybe he paid people more when he had it to give.
