I never said the Lovesexy band was going to get back together. You said they were never a band in the first place. I am saying they were a band and much better than the Revolution.

OldFriends4Sale said:

I said there is no Lovesexy band. It cannot happen again 1. Boni Boyer(RIP) is gone 2. Cat doesn't care for Sheila E 3. Miko Weaver has been a bit of a cry baby and has not reached out to anyone else Sheila E/NPG/the Family etc and there is a 4 and 5

Cat is/was a major part of the band so, again, it cannot happen

A band of musicans played on the concert tour for Sign Of The Times/ Lovesexy meaning their was a band. I watched a band on stage with him when I saw the Lovesexy show. So there was a band. If you listen to the Eric Leeds interview on the Micheal Dean podcast he said they knew the band was only going to be short lived for those projects so your information is not a new and has nothing to do with them not being a band in the first place.

I could less about what Cat has to say about the music. I know what I like from my own ears. Small Club is all you have to listen to see that band left the Revolution in the dust.

Also remember Wendy even said he had musicians later that could play rings around them.

There is definitely something weird going on between Sheila and some of the others. She put together that BET tribute and after that she hasn't been a part of anything. She wasn't involved in the October tribute, never once acknowledged the Revolution shows at First Ave (a lot of other Prince band members did and people like Apollonia even flew in for it) and was not involved in the Celebration events at all. Also as far as we know she wasn't at Vanity's funeral - Jill, Apples and Susan were and they also attended one of Prince's P&M show. So there seems to be some bad blood somewhere. I must say I'm not crazy about Sheila covering America and making a political statement with it. I'd prefer no associate of Prince use his music to make political statements.

MC: As a fan, I can tell you that Prince’s other collectives, like Third Eye Girl, NPG, etc., were proficient, but you all were personally responsible for creating ‘the Minneapolis Sound’ that has inspired so many other performers and rewarded us fans so much.

And another dig at Prince's post revolution bands, from this interviewer. Calling them proficient is similar to Wendy saying the Revolution weren't virtuosos like some of the other musicians he worked with. It just bugs me because I know of no other Prince band member who has ever said anything bad about The Revolution. And Prince worked with Morris Hayes on and off for longer than anyone else in his career. Morris, Sonny T, Michael Bland, John Blackwell etc. are way more than just "proficient".

I don't see it as a dig or a bad thing. I just don't see how you choose to interpret it that way.

Wendy said they were a 'scrappy' band, is that a dig toward the Revolution.

Look that 1978-1986 group of people are a part of the foundation. Yes the were personally responsible for helping create the Minneapolis Sound/Purple Music.

.

Sorry but proficient, is good, Prince in 2015 was proficient, but he couldn't touch 1985 Prince. That is were something else comes into play. I've sat in place and listened to serious 'sangers' do it on a song and move no one, and a 13yr old girl with cracks in her voice have something that brings the house down.

.

And Tommy Barabarella has said on his webpage that they were the best band Prince ever had.

Everyone is caught up in Prince's passing and taking it and handling it however it comes. Just like people on the org. I know people who still cannot listen to the music without falling back into depression.

.

She did do some charity shows with Morris Day & the Time, this year.

.

I believe the Family originally wanted Sheila E to put the tribute together. And something with the Estate etc etc etc happened. I don't think I've ever actually seen Sheila E acknowledge anyone's show. Not saying that is a good or bad thing.
Brenda Bennett reached out to Sheila about Vanity's memorial.

.

I agree with that last line.

No, I said they are not(present tense) a band. ie 'there is no Lovesexy band'

Everything about that band ended in 1989.

you just said "Yes they were personally responsible for HELPING create the Minneapolis Sound/Purple Music." The interviewers stated this;"you were personally responsible for creating...." Its semantics but they matter.. Your statement might imply that they were tools in Prince's tool box. The interviewers statement implies equal importance to Prince.

Are people really healing at these concerts because they are honoring Prince overall (with all his complexities, permeations, phases) or are they healing because they are honoring their own childhoods when Prince and the Revolution were setting the world on fire and redefining what a band could be composed of (gay, straight, black, white, male, female)? Its more what they represent than possibly the complexity of Prince as an artist. Its nostalgia at least partly.

Its one thing to say I prefer Prince better when he was painting with oil paints rather than water colors. Its another thing to say Prince wasn't the painter. (and yes, the paints can influence the painter. Sometimes a paint will run or smear a certain way on the canvas (happy accident kind of thing) and the medium will influence the painter's next choices. And maybe a painter will be best served if they let those happy accident (or in prince's case other talents) influence them. Maybe a less successful painter will just throw the canvas away and ignore happy accidents.) But the painter is still the painter.

I get that people are going to be partial to certain eras or band formations. But I do think Wendy and this interviewer were suggesting something about Prince's other band members (except maybe 3EG) as being 'clinical'. I do kind of take that as a bit of a dig. I think there's more to NPG band members than just being technically proficient. But I get it. I'm sure there are some fans for whom Renato Neto does nothing for them, even though he is an excellent piano player.

U probably need to buy a ticket and go to one of the shows. 4 real.

.

I don't think the interviewer implied equal importance.

But it was very important. 1978-1987 was an extremely important time period

and as Prince said in a 1998 interview they were his community

... a government of love and music boundless in it's unifying power

a nation of alms, the production, sharing ideas, a shower of flowers...

The song America is a polictical statement if you listen to the lyrics.

Sheila had another engagment so she could not be at the tribute and if you read the court docs she along with other artist told Lonnie and company that they would not be avalible for the show yet the show continued to be promoted with a list of artist who were not going to be at the show.

If I were her I would stay the hell away from the estate that was being controlled by two liars.

Oh and do not forget she invited the Revolution to be on the song. So stupid of them to not want to actually record some music.

I explained it to yo ignant behind already

.

1. Bonnie is deceased

2. Cat & Sheila don't get along (and like her or not Cat was very integral to that band)

3. Miko cut himself off from everyone

4. Dr Fink is with the Revolution

5. Eric is with St Paul and FDeluxe

6. Sheila E is doing her thang

7. Atlanta Bliss is retired and I still hope he comes out and reconnects and do some shows

.

That's what the FUCK I'm talking about and already explained. 1 + 1 + 1 = 3
And this is coming from someone who loves the 1987-1988 period and band

But your responses make no fucking sense because I was talking about when they were together back in the day.

At no point have I stated." Oh yea the Lovesexy band now in 2017 is better than the Revolution" this is some b.s that you came up with which has nothing to do with the Lovesexy band being a better group of musicians.

The LoveSexy band was one of the best bands P ever had much better than the Revolution back then in the 80s and I do not hear anything that the Revolution is doing now on stage that I think is better than what the Lovesexy band was doing back in the day.

That is all that is it as it is my opinion. Now you can stop wasting time telling me about how the Lovesexy band cannot exist in the present day based somewhat on what you think and not actually know. Who the fuck knows if Cat and Sheila get along and Cat is not even a musician?

Honestly, how ignorant can you be to actually use their non-exsistene as a unit today to refrute what I said about them being a better band.

Who the fuck would think that I would think the Lovesexy band is still operating? I may have missed typed in a rush but why would you think I though they were still a functioning unit. You did nothing here but look ridculous.

Are you really this off your wheel. Although I have said the Revolution is not doing anything right now on this tour that is as good as what Prince was doing with the Lovesexy band. I think even at this point Sheila's band could eat them for lunch. After all they had their chance to record with her and turned it down.

It is what it is but you keep tripping off of whatever you are on.

Fuck Fuck Fuck

.

There is always a possibility. People here have wished for it or wondered why haven't they.

Bonnie being deceased does not hinder them from getting together. It is all the other things that hinder it.

.

When did they have a chance to record with her? You mean perform with her on the BET awards?

Shit they recorded AMERICA, with Prince 1985. Forever on VINYL.

n_a

usproa2300f.jpg

.

None of the bands from previous periods were actually functioning when Prince passed.

.

We need a purple high
Don't give up

I'll still love U
