Yeah,I think their info is wrong.The V6 version of "Sex Shooter" was recorded in the late spring/early summer of '83,after the 1999 tour.I believe "Vibrator" and a few other songs were recorded around this time,too.

Prince had so many protogees but none matched Vanity in this vein- she just had the charisma and sex appeal -that "it" factor. I know Apples did the movie but Vanity had that UMPH!, that POW-that charisma and charm and sex appeal all at once. She oozed it.

I am not on the org much but a treat to see this version being

discussed. Appollonia6 were fine but Apples could not even come close to what Vanity brought. Maybe it was the tension between the women that brought out what we hear here - maybe it was Prince and Vanity's chemistry in the mix.

yeah,I find the Vanity version to be much more convincing,much more believable.She was the real "nasty girl" and her image was genuine.You can hear it in her vocals.

Apollonia just doesn't seem comfortable with that song.Her ad libs near the end....."everybody sing it!...."I can't hear yoooouuuuuuuuuu!"....lol...it all sounds forced.

Her adlibs in the whole song- it is noeven justified to compare. I played them back to back and it is laughable ... Prince was so naughty to do that to Apples. I felt cheated first time I heard Vanity's version. Vanity saying the numbers and the Ooo,hoo,hoo's in Vanity's are just sultry. Vanity had it going on and yeah I believe her- I mean back then she was a sex shooter and kissing the gun.

I have to admit Prince in this Vanity 6 version adds a lot to it.
