Prince was brought up around and in the church. It was fine for someone of faith to assist in bringing him out from the "wilderness". The baby 's death was part of a number of things that gave him pause in that decade. Prince came out of all of that fog of the 90s a strong, fine, genius. He was just refined. I loved that Prince. He was delish.

Yup, most of us who are nearly Prince's age were brought up in and around the church. I agree that he became more refined and I was intrigued to witness his journey.

We did witness it and it was fun too. Looking at the man he was when he died was different to the man who did the Gold Experience. He really did grow before our eyes. My regret is not Larry but the memoir. I am sorry he did not get to do his own story because others will put their spin on his truth and that is sad.

I would still love to see those fifty pages that we were told about.

I think with Prince's 'fantasy' music culture, the direction Larry opened for him actually helped him to be in denial, and avoidance.

I think that Prince's spiritual path did him far more good than harm and if he encountered LG and the JW on that path then so be it. Even through that phase Prince never completely abandoned his core beliefs and I am proud of him for having the courage to continue seeking throughout his life.

He was and still is such an incredible soul.

Larry is an excellent musician but as a front man he is too doofus for my taste. lol

Babynoz, How exactly is it that you feel he wore Prince down when he was vulnerable?

Were you thinking of another member's comment, because that is not what my post says?

Yup, it was ISLIJAGames's quote. Sorry bout that.

Larry's a good musician and was a good friend to Prince; however, I don't follow the JW teachings. If it helped him during that rough time in his life, then that's wonderful, but I don't think he needed Larry or the JW to do that. I also think the JW used Prince for his money.

Those people who don't like Larry Graham should sit and have a chat with him at least once before they 4m an opinion on him.

Then they can decide.

That is all that matters but Prince has never been allowed to be his own person on the org. He has to reflect everybody's projections, fetishes and fantasies of what he is supposed to be, think or believe.

What happens/happened on the org was and is no matter in the life of Prince and he lived that way. The org denezins, me included, indeeed whined, cried, asked, demanded, etc things we wanted fomr the man. ut thankfully, he did what he wanted to do anyways, AND, adid try to appease us with some things in his career such as PP parties, certain guitar, paino based tours, etc etc. But the perosnal stuff that folks made comments on and opinions on etc, he really didnt give a dman, and rightfully so. He did comment on it yes but still was making perosnal decision with his people in his life based on what us nuts thought (One example of this was him commenting in the song Love form 3121 "smile at my friends when you say you hate 'em" or saomething like that).

This is one of the things I love the most about Prince. He was who he was and never let anyone dictate to him who he should be. That's courage. He just tried not to hurt anybody, and lived his life as he felt he should - AND wanted to.
That should be a great lesson to us all.

Yes, he was brave, giving, but he def was not a saint in his personal life. Ill just leave it at that. Im not saying he was all bad or all good. He was human, flawed. Like us all. He had great work ethic, talent, and such. We were lucky to get something like we did out of him.

Where he found comfort and friendship was his business, always gonna be his business, and whether anyone liked it or felt it did this or that to his output, life decisions, doesnt mean fuck all.

I know he wasn't perfect and I have no expectations of him being as such.
I do think though, that he grew a lot over the years, and in his last several years even though he kept some things about him the same, he was really trying, and did a lot of good.
I'm not necessarily talking about the money donations. That's not really where it counts. I'm talking about the love and tolerance he had for our shenanigans sometimes, he was still nice to fans and they said some pretty bad things to and about him. And I'm taking about the one on one encouragemnt he gave to people who were close to him, and I'm not thinking about musically either. I'm thinking about things like how Carmen Electra said he taught her boundaries.
Imagine that!

I liked Larry Graham.....before he became Prince's buddy lol I have alot of his 70s music with Graham Central Station and of course,I like when he was in Sly and The Family Stone. But once he became opening for Prince and hanging around him,he began to annoy me for some reason.

I get that because it seems like he could have been riding the coattails of Princes fame and fans etc.

But others seem to have aded issues about how it was him who made Prince change his sound, lyrics etc. And I get that too but ultimately even that was Princes decison to heed to that influence (if it WAS larrys influence directly etc).

I believe that no one is above criticism but much of the time the pissing, moaning, whining and garment rending on the org was way over the top. I'm sure it annoyed me more than it did him.

Opinions are one thing but too many just make stuff up as they go along with no regard to whether or not there is a factual basis for their commentary. lol

Even with regard to Larry people were on here saying that he prevented Prince from getting proper treatment, etc, etc....wtf? eek

Larry is just another person who did nothing in his so called "best friends" ultimate time of need. And I know you are going to say "you don't know what he did" but I know he was not screaming to the heavens and the press that prince needed help ASAP, like all the rest, he left that sleeping beast in the dark and it killed his "best friend". I promise you my best friend is not dying alone in an elevator with their clothes on backwards (unless it was a heart attack while bumping). What I am saying is like all of princes other best friends Larry was not willing to rock the boat for fear of being kicked from the inner circle. The consequence as we all know is there is no more circle...and if he didn't know there was a problem, than you were not best friends, so quit saying it...

With all the heart Love heart Prince gave to us, there should have never been any lies or criticizm of his life directed toward him by anyone cry Larry's music was cool but no matter who it is, I dislike it when someone seems to set up someone to conform to their view of things. IDK it's just a feeling I've had for many years, that some BIG moves that Prince may have been heavily influenced by Larry and his camp. But we all have free will, it's just a shame when pure hearts are deceived or tricked to believe something for the gain of others in general twocents
