Thanks Rogifan. That was a really nice interview from the Rev's. Loved how they spoke of him. They seemed very sincere. Makes me want to waiver in my decision not to go see any of his former bands or associates, and it seems as if they won't be doing this for much longer...

Rolling Stone also did a Facebook live chat with them today. Whoever did research really mucked it up because they said, "How was it playing with Bruno Mars at the Grammys?" Blank stare.

Oh my gosh, that Rolling Stone one was cringe-worthy. Later the interviewer made a comment about Cochella and Prince's rendition of "Creep" like the Revolution was backing him at the time. Yikes. I thought the band handled it all with grace, though. They really are classy and disciplined. I think Prince would be proud of them.

I groaned so loud on that one.

They did an hour long interivew with Mark Goodman (MTV) and Alan Light (whoe wrote "Let's Go Crazy" Booi) on SiriusXM.

It was amazing.... I was there in the audience.

They were so respectful, I wish I wrote down the quotes for that now locked thread.

ONe of htem wsa like "He was a solo artist first and foremost, before and after us, but he let us in for a period of time". They said it much better than I'm writing it, but was all respectful and really fun and sad too given the circumstances.

Listen if they repeat it.

The one attacking Wendy. While I was at the show I was thinking I wish that person was listening because everything she and Bobby said refuted all those obnoxious comments about her.

Wait - what - on which channel?

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

No I wanted to ADD the quotes from Wendy and Bobby to show the person who was attacking that he/she is wrong and that Wendy et al are being very humble and NOT doing what that person accused her of.

Wait - what - on which channel?

I don't have SiriusXM actually, my friend does.

.

.

I think he's asleep now or I"d text him. It's like VOX or something? It's like a talk channel. Mark Goodman has a show. Different 'celebs' have shows.

That was a great interview.

I just saw them this past weekend--I wish I could have swung both shows but at least I caught one show. The band was (not surprisingly) tight and I had a great time.

I am curious what others think of the show. For ours (Philly) they brought another singer to sing Prince at times, and I believe he was from Mint Condition I was told. While I know no one could replace Prince nor was I comparing--but I didn't love him and hope they have other people lined up.

One main reaoson I didn't care for him was because he (and Brown) together would sometimes do that 'shout out" to the crowd where they say a sound or phrase and want the crowd to repeat back to them in the same pitch..... Like him or Brown, ooohh-ooh, Crowd ohhh ohhh, etc.. like back and forth. Many mediocre bands will do with the audience...There was no need as our crowd was engaged. I remember thinking Prince would cringe at that. lol No one else did it just the singer and I think Brown.

I don't know who else they could try as the occassional Prince singer...but I enjoyed having the band share the vocals more than this guy. I don't know why I also didn't like the chemistry....I guess he was able to hit any falsettos so they needed him....Maybe I am just the odd man out to think this...

Anyway, I still liked the show ALOT......but it was just this little thing that bugged me bc it happened more than once. Even my husband who is more of a casual fan mentioned it to me (and noticed it)

Like I said when I saw the Revolution this past Friday I had a whole new respect for them and their importance in his life and coming up. I don't feel that anyone should feel like they should NOT get out their and play. They are doing this for themselves and healing but even more as they all have said its a chance to give the fans what is missing in their life, though it is not the same and of course they Know that but they know that fans are confused and their is a HUGE hole where he once was. I mean so far since Prince has passed I have seen Judith and Andy, Liv and Shelby and now The Revolution and I am sure soon the Time if they hit NYC this year. I do think like Wendy said "this is baby steps" dont expect tours all the time and new music in the future, if it happens though I don't think we should shun them or curse them for doing it.

Agreed...I loved to see them and as said I would have seen them on SUnday too had I not had plans which could not be broken. I felt moved and I could just feel through them what it was like in those days to play together and they miss him. I am VERY APPRECIATIVE I was able to see them. I don't know why the Mint Condition guy just didn't jive for me.IT was almost a distraction..lol..I enjoyed it more when they performed without him.

One nice thing....at our show I think we had a lot of true long term fans that truly just miss him. I don't have a bias towards 'levels or rankings of fans'. I believe that if you liked his music and want to see him or the band who was so creative with him, then that is great. However, I did see many knowing the not so commericial works.

Seeing the Revolution made me very happy and it was a joyous night for me..I didn't go there with the thought of missing him in that spot or comparing how things should sound. I truly went there to hear the Revolution play musically and thankful they are available and willing to play. I do have this sadness though that doesn't go away and that just reminded me afterwards that that musical genius is gone and that high to go to a Prince show will no longer be available to me. I would see them again if they do decide to come through. They didn't play at a big venue here. Maybe they didn't anticipate how many people wanted to really see them to fill a gap:)

However, I am extremely grateful for any shows over the years I have been able to attend.

I don't curse any of his bands/artists for performing now. Imagine what they learned in their time with him. I welcome the sharing.

I'm actually hoping more do it, I really do not have an issue with any of it since we all are wanting New Music New Releases Vault stuff concert videos this stuff is filling a huge gap. Here in NYC the fans were on it, I think he had die hards all over though with the set list you really could not say there was a song that the audience should not know all the words too, and NYC was singing along word for word on a lot. I get what you are saying about Stokley being a distraction, I kind of just ignored him to be honest, i think he did great being up there and he knew a lot of the things Prince did LIVE time to time so I can really say he was anything but a professional, I would have had huge issues with him if he dressed like Prince ala Bruno Mars. Im not sure if at your show, did Wendy also NOT do the guitar ending to "Lets Go Crazy"? You could see fans waiting for it, and she did not do it and I think because of the ICONIC nature she did not but i could be wrong. They have been nothing but respectful and all have been telling some great stories about coming up which I love hearing. The night was amazing I really felt what it must have felt like August of 1983 to be at First Avenue. And of course Wendy doing "Sometimes it Snows" there was not a dry eye even though she said it was not about "crying and sadness" she did say "this is going to be tough" and it was, but she got through it, and I loved her changing the line, "Whole Lot better than the SHIT he left here" great statement on our world now.

In one of the interviews Wendy commented about how she is playing some of Prince's guitar parts but there are other parts she's purposely not playing. She also admitted there certain things she's just not as good at. For example she's really good at rhythm playing but maybe not as "gifted" at shredding solos.

At BB King she did the middle solo in Let's Go Crazy but NOT the ending one. Of course I as waiting for it but having heard what she said I get it. Even when she does the solos they are not note for note but evoke the "idea" of them. She said as much in either the NPR or ABC or Sirius interview.

I remember watching the Sept shows, how people cheered the way they end Let's Go Crazy as if everyone knew, that piece being such a Prince solo, that she/they honored him by not doing it.

.

It will be cool as she does a solo by not trying to duplicate it.
.
That is one thing I loved about their performances even back at the 2012 show, it was an express on the music. Almost like hearing Lisa's lead on Our Destiny vs Prince's
