Careful....that kind of independent thinking is not allowed here.

Now that Prince is dead, you're not allowed to say anything bad about him or his associates anymore.

Must fall in line...

I don't know what I feel about Morris sometimes. At times, he feels the need to keep it real in a way that can be taken out of context. In one of his interview clips, he said that Prince was a difficult guy and you never know whether you will get the comedian or "Ayatollah Ali Khamenei". I know what he is saying...Prince was a moody SOB (Gemini) but really in the same interview he is calling him his brother and premiering his song and then calling him a mideastern dictator--that is a little much. Doesn't he remember how sound bites and cherry picking works?

At times, he gives Prince a great deal of credit; other times, he knocks him. Complicated relationship--those two have..Its making me think that morris could be a bit moody himself.

It a brother thing. I think Morris keeps it real and bet Prince kept it real as well.

Nah people are free to talk shit about Prince just like they did on this board when he was alive and well and all of his associates with the exception of Wendy and Lisa are free to be attacked.

Things are pretty much going on here as usual.

I think both the song and the video are great.

Same...

Must have been a relief for Morris to unpack some of that Grief

and flood it with Purple LOVE

Still not sure about it. The immediate reaction is to feel moved by the whole thing, but those two had a strange relationship...
I can hear The Beautiful Ones in there too. I guess I just have a problem with these tribute songs. Sheila E's is really bad, imo. Jill Jones is nice, but she almost comes across as a widow. Morris's song just sounds a bit cheesy to me...

They all knew him from 40 to 50 years that can be as chessy as they like.

let's face it,Prince was a complex person. Many of his associates have said similiar things to what Morris said.Nobody doubts that he was a musical genuis, but he could be shady and not-so-nice at times.

Duh. I acknowledged that Prince could be an asshole. My point is that Ayatollah is more than a bit hyperbolic and a stupid comment to make.

Just read this and wanted to share. He loved his little bro, Prince so much. Makes me wanna cry

.

Morris:

As for why he decided to release the song and video now, Day says, he feels like “things happen for a reason in their own time.”

.

“Right away, I wasn’t ready and I just waited until it felt appropriate,” he continues. “I’m a big believer in: ‘Things happen for a reason and when they’re supposed to happen’—and I just kind of followed my gut on that.”

.

February, 2016:

.

Morris: Two months later, the “Purple Rain” singer was gone. “It made me reflect,” says Day. “Did he know something or was he just feeling in alignment with the same divine path I feel like—which is you just follow your gut.”

.

Continues Day: “I didn’t know if he felt like something was wrong and he wanted to, in his own way, say goodbye or if it was just by chance.” heart cry cry

I really like this and felt it was a genuine reflection of Morris loving and missing P.

I honestly don't see the need for the hate and dismissive attitude toward Morris or the song, especially today, in another thread. Thankfully this one is just talking about it all in a positive way.

Because the bitch is out of the bag all over the place, it's been a full moon for too long and the tide pulling the ugly out of a lot of people.
