Ok, so she just confirmed that the pills Prince asked her to flush down the toilet weren't aspirin. Things are starting to add up, sadly...

Wait so something that allegedly happened in the mid 90s explains why April 21, 2016 happened? confused

Do people suffering from substance abuse die overnight? There are unfortunately many people who use drugs and overdose a couple of times for decade. Sadly. sad

So you're saying one incident that she mentions from the mid-1990s means he was suffering from substance abuse for the last 20 years? Something happening in the mid 90s and dying in 2016 is not "overnight".

What she should be doing is avocating for how much pain he was in, but she is not, in fact she has basically stated in her book she never saw him in any pain. She saw him loopy, she saw him in ER, she flushed pills, but never saw him in pain. Now tell me what that sounds like she's saying.

She does not even believe he had a migraine.

True, according to her he claimed to have migraines.

And what she actually says regarding drug use is "I never ACTUALLY saw him take anything. When people say actually in a sentence, what they are really saying is I compleatley believe this happened, but I did not see it. And then she follows it up by saying "because he didn't want me to see it", which is another clear accusation of drug use.

Why is she even disclosing this. It's like someone telling you something but then saying with a wink "you didn't hear that from me".

I never said it happened overnight? I was actually claiming that it might have started then and developed over years. As opposed to you asking how a mid 90's claim could explain what happened last year. Lord!!!!

And then...
How about his brother Duane mentioning substance use way back when?

I also find it strange hardly anyone saw him in pain. I mean, his own wife never saw him in pain? Does that mean he only started having hip problems after 2000? Makes no sense.

Not true. Eric Leeds said he saw him getting shots in his knee back in 2003. Silent Bob said while he was making that aborted Rainbow Children doc Prince told him one day his knee was frozen and he could not get up.

We had pics of him riding on an old person scooter in 2004. You can see him limping in the papparzzi film in the Airport.

Fact is she's not verifying his hip pain, or any other pain to the world. I don't believe it was her job to know for sure back then, no blame from me at all, of course she was young and naive then, but she isn't now. I would figure she should be able to conclude she did not know him that well, and he either didn't feel "safe" enough yet with her to share that part of himself. Or he was just using for recreation and hiding it. She is perfectly able to reason that out as an adult woman and make a decision what to expose now. She's chosen to make it obvious he was using something. What? We don't know. Why? We don't know. And she's not telling.

Nope, I just wanted to discuss his claim not his dirty laundry. For instance, you Billie are mean to people but that doesn't mean you could bring a point. Laura says PennyPurple is insane, does that mean she is right? Point why denying ones claim based on who they are?

Firstly, if it makes me mean for criticising the book so be it. You obviously have little comprehension of how book reviews work in general, so lets stick to your claim that Prince was a drug addict because Dauane said he was one.

Duane himself had a restraining order taken against him by Prince. Duane had resentment against Prince. They had a very rocky relationship.

http://m.startribune.com/...117755303/

The attorney, Padden had also filed many lawsuits against Prince. You need to look at the context of their claims.

Whether the claim is true or not, it does not matter. When they were on good terms no one heard anything about drugs this and that but all of a sudden he is a drugie when they had a falling out and Prince was not supporting him anymore. Did he and others care about Prince's so call drug issues when they were enjoying financial perks and such? People question Prince's moral character and discredit him as well. So why should Duane or anyone else have to a different standard? They had their issues, but Prince did not put Duane's business on front street. As for Mayte, when they asked her about drugs she gives different answers and seems to down play what she has said depending on what the wind is doing. Either he did drugs or he did not. Either she saw drug use or she did not. You can't be wishy washy when it come to the topic of drugs. This is a serious issue and should be taken as a joke.

This is the REAL Mayte. She has always resented her paltry divorce settlement from Prince. She was mad because she didn't get that "Purple Rain money," but now she's making up for it. This book is strictly about the vast fortune that she is poised to make by exploiting Prince's name and selling her so-called truth. Shame on her. I predict this shameless, mercenary money-grab is going to backfire on her.

Sadly Mayte is still a child that thinks she is "entitled". Does she not realise that she has been manipulated by people smarter than herself with regard to this book. Many other people have a financial interest in the success of this book, not the least, the publisher. Mayte is still coming from a place of bitterness, loss and resentfulness, not realising she will bring all this down on herself if she does not slow down with her insinuations. Other than the shared grief of the death of their child they had nothing more to share and hence the divorce. This book is not coming from a place of love. It is a selfserving account of a bitter person who as shown truthfully in the video, feels she is OWED. She is still immature and irresponsible in her actions.

I have no doubt that any substance abuse issues started due to legitimate pain. He started using a cane while he was married to Mayte. Some people are more likely to get addicted to pills than others. It's a medical issue.

I suffer from migraines and they are completely and utterly dibilitating and you will do absolutely anything to stop the pain.

If you have never had one, they are impossible to explian, it is one thing when you knee or foot hurts, it is another when it is your back or head.....everything in your world comes to a complete stop and all there is is the pain that you feel and just want to make stop.

If he suffered from migraines with everything else, then this man was more amazing for being able to do what he did knowing that at any point the noise, the music, the lights, etc. could trigger a migraine

I'm really disappointed in Mayte. She knows Prince was a very private person and he would not approve of her writing a book about their life together. No, I haven't read her book and I won't. She wanted to write a book a few years ago, and Prince shut her down. I'm sorry for what she had to go through with the loss of their son; it was a painful ordeal for both her and Prince. Their relationship/marriage was a very complicated one and he ended the marriage and with good reason. Prince wasn't perfect, but he was hurt, and I understand that. Mayte surely was no angel either. It just seems to me that her book is about revenge and having the last word. I just don't feel that Prince would be cool with her talking about such intimate things. He was devestated when he lost his son--they both were. I sincerely wish Mayte well. I don't support her book, but if it helps her find some closure and move on with her life, then there was something good to come of it. Seeing people who are profiting off of Prince's death is what upsets me. It's about morals and respect for a man who is no longer on this earth to speak and defend himself.

Many of us have been saying this book is REVENGE and right here she gave herself away.

Oh and you and I agree on SOMETHING. eek

Why does she sound like she inhaled helum? falloff

.

Yes, her book is about "revenge". She probably wanted to say a lot more, but it had to be edited out of the book. I feel sorry for her because she has not been able to get over her divorce from Prince. She was very young and naive when she met Prince. I'm sorry for the loss of their child -- that was a awful tragedy, but people keep trying to talk like she is some kind of saint or something, which she is not. I also think it's so disrespectful to publish a book when Prince's fans and loved one's are still trying to cope with his loss and heal. And, all she is doing is stirring the pot, again! stirthepot
