So Prince engaged in pedophilia? Did he? And he was 'abusive' in the physical sense?

Its not just about Prince and Mayte. Its about his fans. Let them some illusions while honoring his contributions on the anniversary of his death. Mayte has plenty of time to tell her story and air out old grievances. Maybe, he has a little bit of it coming. But now?

Plus, Prince deserves a fair trial. NOt cherry picked (one-sided) details carelessly being thrown about.

If Prince hadn't of done any of those things, there would be no need for headlines.

Do the "if not for" test. If not for maytes book would there have been headlines saying he burnt his own child's ashes in a bonfire...NO If not for maytes book would there be headlines saying prince is a pedophile...NO If not for maytes book would all the artlicles about how controlling and abusive he was to her be circulating...NO And on and on... Even if you like her and her book, she was 100% the catalyst for all the nasty recent headlines and story's. It is fall out that she knew would happen.

Was it difficult to get the interview, Caroline? I would imagine that she's been quite busy making the circuit with major news organizations since the publication of the book.

Thank you! I'm not an investigative reporter, I'm an entertainment writer, and this article was for the parenting section, plus I was given a limited amount of time, so my questions had to be geared a little differently than I otherwise would. I tried to ask the most important ones, and that was #1 for me. There's a gazillion other questions I have, and I know everyone else has too. I could have picked her brain for hours. She's actually a very nice interview, she's pretty open and responsive.

Not difficult at all, I went through her PR agency. The website I write for is quite popular smile

1.) Thanks for the link.

2.) She states that we don't know him. Well, we don't her either and her intentions are unclear. The month of his death?

3.) I don't really buy into an autobiography in which the writer doesn't at least admit a few of their own flaws or mistakes. Even Sheila E in her book admitted that she could be a diva and a pain in the butt in her youth. Prince's flaws are glaring in there. Her's apparently are non-existent. I have a tough time buying that.

4.) I am glad she took the high ground for the fans. But her statement that the critics of her book don't know Prince...leaves out a few ladies (Apollonia, Jill JOnes) who did indeed know Prince.

5.) HOw can she say in your interview that Prince was his most open with people during her time with him? Maybe during the pregnancy *which I have heard^. But don't people remember that the 90's was the period in which people couldnt even look him in the eye and he was not bonding with his musicians like he sometimes did in the 1980's. Hell, he was't even going by a name in that decade. Prince, reportedly later in life stopped talking though second parties and was opening Paisley up to regular citizens to attend his shows. A 90's former musician stated that when they returned years later (after 2011) to Paisley Park for a gig, they were shocked that PRince was taking care of things himself and just engaging with people.

Personally, I love spaghetti.

I have read her book and absolutely loved it, this is Mayte's story about her time that she spent with Prince, in NPG and he married her. She did not have to mention Appolonia, Jill Jones, and any other woman he worked with, because this is her story.

My editor cutting that part isn't a red flag. I can tell you right now my editor didn't call up Tyka like "Hey gurl..." biggrin It was edited for length and to fit the vertical it was placed in, which was Parenting. I usually write for the Entertainment vertical, and when I submitted the piece I knew she would have to cut a lot out. I requested she leave in as much as possible about fan reaction, rumors, etc. as space allowed, but not everything could be kept, and I understand that. My editor also isn't on the org or LSA reading how everyone is dissecting this book. While we think that detail is super important, the general public who isn't a hardcore Prince fam neither knows who Tyka and Omarr are nor cares what they think of the book, kwim?

I am not talking about her mentioning Apollonia and Jill in her book. In her interview, she said 'crticis' of this book did not know him. Jill and Apollonia are critics of the book (supposedly) and did know him.

The family have ignored this book, not a single thing on their Twitter, no promotion or comment at all.

Theyve promoted Sheila, the twinz, Andre and a host of others.

As if Tyka and Omarr could stop it from coming out anyway. The only Prince associate that has promoted this book in any way is Shelby J. but that's most likely because she and Mayte share the same manager/management company.

I think it would matter to the public to know if Prince's family supported this book or not, but take away the public, you interviewed her right? and you know who Tyka and Omarr are. They are the heirs to Prince's estate. and they are in the news. Why didn't you press her on how this blessing was communicated to her? Also, her answer in addressing the fans makes no sense. Since you interviewed her can you explain her answer? All I got from it was it was her story and we dont know him, then she goes off talking abot play dates and socializing. How does this address the question about the timing of the release of this book and Prince's privacy? I'm not attacking you by no means, I just asking for clarity. Thanks.

Let's just say I pity Mayte and Manuela the day they come across a journalist who is a die hard Prince fan and know what's up and will cut to the chase and through the BS. lol

Who is the world says Prince would allow Tyka and Omarr to dictacte what others shall or shall not do. Did he need their blessings in anything?

Because they are the heirs by law does not mean this is what Prince wanted. Where were they all this time?

Where did anyone write that Omarr and Tyka should dictate anything? Can you copy and past where I wrote that? Where did I write the Mayte NEEDS their blessings. The journalist indicated that Mayte said the book had Omarr and Tyka's blessing and I just wanted to know how was that communicated because the family has not said anything about that book. If it did not matter then she would not even have brought it up.

You didnt answer the question. How did Tyka and Omar communicate to Mayte that she had their blessing?

She didn't specify over what medium the message was delivered to her, like via email or a conversation or through a psychic, if that's what you mean LOL She just said she knew they were supportive, and mentioned having breakfast with them after the memorial last summer. I understand you guys are looking for specific answers and drilled-down questions, but you also have to understand how interviews of this nature work. Like I said, I'm not an investigative reporter, and I'm not Barbara Walters or Oprah. I wasn't given all day to shoot the sh-t with her, I wasn't even given half an hour. I was originally told I had 15 minutes and I was very, very fortunate in that they let me go about 25 minutes. I would love to spend a day or a week with Mayte asking her a zillion questions about this stuff, but that kind of time simply was not made available to me, nor was it appropriate for the type of publication.

All that being said, as I mentioned there were a few more quotes than were published, and I'm hoping to get them up on my blog soon, so when I do I'll post them here.

Sometime in the 2000's he took Tyke to rehab which Tyke has talked about how he started to hang around more after their parents passed away and they became closer.

Even the Kim Berry said the sibs he was not close to he still took care of. I think that tells you a lot about his character. I honestly think he was a caring person who just did not believe in monogamy and probably should not have married anyone however, I think he had mid-western values and did not want to have a kids out of wedlock so he went ahead a tried to have a family life.

I am sure it was upsetting to him to fail at it and I am sure he felt the best to deal with was to go back to work and move forward. Not sure why Mayte is making their marriage and break up into a Shakespearean Tradegy. I really fell it is just to exploit his death for a dollar because she would not be doing this if he were alive.

Actually Tyka said he took her to different rehabs until they found the right one and that he even came to see her on visitor day and went to the counselor sessions with her.

She did take down notices for him and she travelled with him. They got to be closer in the last 15 years or so.

I knew about him paying for her rehabilitation bills but not taking her down to Hazelton himself. His assitant did that.

Because he cared for them does not mean they were kicking it.

Actually Tyka said he took her to different rehabs until they found the right one and that he even came to see her on visitor day and went to the counselor sessions with her.

She did take down notices for him and she travelled with him. They got to be closer in the last 15 years or so.

That is what she said!

This is my normal life. These marital standards cannot be recreated with money.
