Mayte addresses fam reaction to her book

I interviewed Mayte about The Most Beautiful, and the first question I asked her was what she thought of negative reactions to the book and its similarity to the one she originally planned before Prince's death.

"...They don't know him..."

Oh, and she also told me she had Tyka and Omarr's blessing to write the book - for some reason, my editor cut that part out.

During your interview, did she ever hinted or provide an inclination that Prince had other children?

No, not at all. That wasn't a question I asked her, but I did ask her questions both about Amiir and her miscarriage and she never said anything that could have remotely been construed as being about him having other children.

Thank you for sharing your article Caroline. You asked important questions fans wanted to know regarding the release of the book that she answered better in your article than in any other sources I have seen so far.

Thank you! I'm not an investigative reporter, I'm an entertainment writer, and this article was for the parenting section, plus I was given a limited amount of time, so my questions had to be geared a little differently than I otherwise would. I tried to ask the most important ones, and that was #1 for me. There's a gazillion other questions I have, and I know everyone else has too. I could have picked her brain for hours. She's actually a very nice interview, she's pretty open and responsive.

Thank you. My question wasn't meant in a bad way. I enjoyed your interview and article.

My reasoning for the question was due to hints around that time period. There has been threads about a women named Lily if I recall that was around PP during the Graffiti Bridge era that may have had a child. I think Robin Powers may have implied as well, but it all gets foggy after a while.

Mayte has always seemed sincere and down to earch. I have always had positive vibes from her. She has my respect and my heart goes out to her. I hope after her book, she is able to heal and move forward. I say this without any negative remarks to Prince.

I didn't take it in a bad way smile I think if there was another child, he or she would have come to light by now.

I dunno, I really enjoyed talking with her and could have continued the interview for hours if her PR person would have let me! I thought her book was well done and I think it actually made Prince seem more human, which isn't a bad thing. But I understand why others don't like the idea of it having been written. To each their own. "Some people like spaghetti, and some people don't" is what she said to me.

Is it funny how she can explain how sad he was about the second miscarriage and yet that does not come off in the book at all. Also she had been speaking about this child since 2006 and nothing was stopping her from speaking his name. I also find it ironic that she now has chronic pain and everybody seems to believe her when she seemed skeptical about his claims of migraines.

Was it difficult to get the interview, Caroline? I would imagine that she's been quite busy making the circuit with major news organizations since the publication of the book.

No, the BOOK DID NOT cause anything. Some read it and named it based on their interpretation. I guess if your heart and mind tend to navigate toward the dark, salacious, negative, etc., that is how you will infer something. Think about that for a minute.....

A couple things.

1.) Thanks for the link.

2.) She states that we don't know him. Well, we don't her either and her intentions are unclear. The month of his death?

3.) I don't really buy into an autobiography in which the writer doesn't at least admit a few of their own flaws or mistakes. Even Sheila E in her book admitted that she could be a diva and a pain in the butt in her youth. Prince's flaws are glaring in there. Her's apparently are non-existent. I have a tough time buying that.

4.) I am glad she took the high ground for the fans. But her statement that the critics of her book don't know Prince...leaves out a few ladies (Apollonia, Jill JOnes) who did indeed know Prince.

5.) HOw can she say in your interview that Prince was his most open with people during her time with him? Maybe during the pregnancy *which I have heard^. But don't people remember that the 90's was the period in which people couldnt even look him in the eye and he was not bonding with his musicians like he sometimes did in the 1980's. Hell, he was't even going by a name in that decade. Prince, reportedly later in life stopped talking though second parties and was opening Paisley up to regular citizens to attend his shows. A 90's former musician stated that when they returned years later (after 2011) to Paisley Park for a gig, they were shocked that PRince was taking care of things himself and just engaging with people.

Do the "if not for" test.

If not for maytes book would there have been headlines saying he burnt his own child's ashes in a bonfire...NO

If not for maytes book would there be headlines saying prince is a pedophile...NO

If not for maytes book would all the artlicles about how controlling and abusive he was to her be circulating...NO

And on and on...

Even if you like her and her book, she was 100% the catalyst for all the nasty recent headlines and story's. It is fall out that she knew would happen.

Hmmm, I don't understand her response about the fans. What does that have to do with the timing of her releasing the book after his death and not before? And what do play dates and socializing have to with this? What does she mean by we don't know him? Does that mean he would have been okay with this book and if so why?can someone explain?

And what does she mean Tyka and Omar gave the book their blessing? How was this communicated? Isn't it a red flag that the editor cut that part out?

Sorry, LOVES, you and I are going to have to come to a truce on this one. I googled "Prince pedophile" and this link: ( https://www.google.com/se...+pedophile ) will take you to the first page of results. Number 1 position, LSA. Number 2 position, prince.org. Scrolling down the page, I did not find one single, solitary mainstream article that is naming Prince a pedophile. I then googled "Prince Rogers Nelson pedophile" and this link: ( https://www.google.com/se...+pedophile ) will take you to those search results. Again, no mainstream media reporting Prince is a pedophile.

This chatter is coming from fans. Please prove me wrong by providing a mainstream news outlet article that contains the accusation Prince is a pedophile based on his friendship with Mayte during her "under-age" years. Please. Prove me wrong.
