Maybe they had a lifelong friendship/connection.

I wish someone can just come out and say why that is hard to even entertain.

He had a deep connection with her. He pledge his everlasting love to her. They had a pattern of this back and forth. She would do something. Prince would do the same. It was his way of saying we are one. I am were you are. There is a list of connections between the two. The obvious: name change, celibacy, seeking spirituality. Prince has been down with this woman since 1982 until 2016!!! From The Beautiful Ones, Adore, Diamond and Pearls to recent songs Revelation, Breakdown all inspired by Vanity. If u r a long time admirer there would be no question who owned his heart. Perhaps soulmate isn't the right word. But she most definitely owned his heart!!!

I think many owned his heart.

Many loves and lovers but one owner.

You all are delusional if you think that Vanity was Prince's soul mate. I don't care how long they did or didn't keep in touch. They never got back together.

To be honest, I don't even know if I believe in such a thing as soulmates. I've never read anything in the bible saying there is such a thing, so I try to stay away from using the word myself. When I shared Carmen Electra's comment about Prince and Vanity being soulmates, I wanted to make a point of the many people that sees the strong connection between them. Even his own girlfriends... How many personal friends of theirs have mentioned the Prince and Vanity connection? Girlfriends and wives alike have acknowledged the bond they shared. So far, all the books by the women he's been with, including Mayte's and Devin Vasquez's has mentioned Prince speaking of Vanity. Morris Day paying homage to their famous photo together writing in caption, "together again", Carmen Electra saying publicly that she thought they were "soulmates", Jill Jones saying "Vanity was the love of his life" Robin Power saying Prince loved her a lot and spoke about her all the time and that she saw the jewelry box Vanity made for him in his bedroom. In your idol Mayte's book, she stated the analogy of Prince explaining to her that Vanity was his "thunderbolt" and that's why he wanted her to play the part in Purple Rain... And it broke his heart when she left. She also mentions that she knew Vanity's death would be a gut punch for him. As a couple, they have fans wearing t-shirts of them, writing blogs about them, Facebook pages, and Twitter accounts going beyond Prince.org. Vanity is the first one talked about when speaking of Prince and the many women he's dated, even though she'd been out of the lime light for almost two decades. There is a reason people still remember that "connection." They sense something special and unique about their relationship and that's why the word soulmates have always tied them together. Those who were around at that time knows much more about what they meant to each other than any of you do, and much more than any book or the people who go out of their way to diminish her significance in his life because they are intimidated by that connection they shared and want to drive their own agendas. The songs that were kept hidden are finally coming out that she inspired. "The Beautiful Ones", that Prince himself got fed up about and set the record straight. "Strange Relationship", that is now being confirmed was about her by a new author. Finally... And this is a big one, so read it carefully... Prince himself before he passed, wanted to let the world know that... HER AND I USED TO LOVE EACH OTHER DEEPLY. Did I write it big enough??? Who says you had to be together forever to share a strong bond? If someone wants to call it "soulmates" that's their prerogative. They had a strong bond. You can wish upon a star all you want, you can't take that away... [Edited 4/12/17 21:31pm]

Great points lost on the clueless.

WOW....did all of you not notice the verbiage in the article BEFORE the red outlined text? Please begin reading the second paragraph of this article. It begins as follows: "When he talks about his wife, Mayte, his eyes fill with tears of love and joy.....has finally found what he was looking for.". The man was so desperately in love with HIS WIFE that the mere thought of that love overwhelmed him to the point of tears!

EDIT TO ADD: Hmmmm....part of my post was cut off.

He mentioned this because of the fact that they weren't speaking at this time so what better way to advise Vanity of the fact that there was no need to worry about him? His spirit was fine because his soul had found what it was searching for (see above). And that came in the form of his wife, Mayte.

You have no way of knowing who he was speaking to. No one has every said he did not love Matye. I think he fell out of love with later due to some issues that we are never going to hear about but I think Vanity was the one that put it on him.

It's so weird to me that if someone says "Prince loved Vanity and they had a strong connection" Some people freak and their all, "No, this can't be... He loved so and so!"

I think we understand that he loved different women in every time period. New album, new look, new women.... That was our Prince, and we still loved him for it. He rocked hard and he played hard. What some of us are trying to say, (and I'm sure it will still fall on deaf ears... and that's okay...) is that Vanity and Prince had an unusual alliance that stood the test of time. They were kindred spirits who'd loved one another deeply. We saw them intertwined in all that they did in this life, and heard Prince mourn her openly and tell us how much he loved her on stage, and it moved a fraction of their friends and many of us as well who'd always felt their chemistry for years, to make us wonder if there is such a thing as soulmates or twin flames or whatever other beautiful metaphor we can think of.

Twin Flame is just something someone made up to suit their purpose.

Prince called Vanity his Thunderbolt . . . well I say she was his twin flame.

https://lonerwolf.com/20-twin-flame-signs/

THE MOMENT YOU MEET YOUR TWIN FLAME IS THE MOMENT THE EARTH BENEATH YOUR FEET BEGINS TO SHIFT.

I like to think of the meeting of two mirror souls as an existential earthquake: all of a sudden you can sense that an immensely important person has entered your life. All of a sudden you get the overwhelming feeling that your life is going to change in a way you aren’t even aware of yet – and yet you intuitively know that the changes will be great, greater than what you’ve ever experienced, and breathtaking in their magnitude.

I know all of this because I am fortunate enough to have met my own twin flame a few years ago, so I have already gone through the fiery, intense and transf...ve process of meeting my soul’s mirror.

Although I feel immense gratitude for the gift of connecting with my twin flame, I am happy to say that this blessing is open to everyone; however such a gift is not always received openly or even recognized by us on a conscious level. Sometimes we’re at a point in our lives where we are simply not receptive to both ourselves and our twin flame’s presence due to stress, over-work, lifestyle habits and negative thought patterns that lead to low self-esteem.

I like to refer to our twin flames as mirror souls because they essentially reflect the deepest needs, desires, dreams and shadow elements of our souls. We will explore this a bit more later on.

However before that, I just want to say that our twin flames are not always romantic, and they are not – as is so popularly suggested – necessarily heterosexual connections. In fact, our twin flames may be romantic partners of the same sex (or no sex), and they can often be platonic friends or even family members who we have known for a long time.

Regardless of this, twin flames are most commonly romantic in nature and tend to manifest themselves as people who we can passionately connect with on all levels.

Furthermore, it has also been popularly suggested that twin flames stay together for entire lifetimes, but I personally don’t beli...s the case. Connecting deeply with another person doesn’t necessarily guarantee that you will stay with them forever – this is dependent on your own level of conscious development and that of your twin flames.

No problem, I think it needs to be explained. Many disregard without understanding what it means.

Let me get it straight. P only married Myte as a rebound chick because he was heartbroken that Vanity got married. And at that time he was dating like 5 or six clicks and just choose one from his picks because Vanity was married to someone else and she violated there twin flame bond and he decided that he didn't trust her anymore? Even though he still loved her. How m I doing?

I was sharing what twin flames are- what you shared is your interpretation of the events. I am not going to debate details. I wanted to share twin flames are not the"soulmate" thing. It is different and not always in the same space, romantic, but the flames know who they are and can go on and lead separate lives .

I believe they were twin flames. Marrying someone else is not violating the twin flame bond, in fact that has nothing to do with the twin flame bond. Being with others does not break it or diminish it.

Singing a different tune from page one of this fantasy thread, aren't we? Some need to go back to the first page and reread again.

This thread began with the premise that Prince proposed to Mayte because he was, according to the op, so devastated by Vanity's marriage that he just chose any ol' girl from his harem to wed. The op insinuated this was a calculated move, on the part of Prince, to send a subliminal message to Vanity of his distress over her marriage. Several heartily agreed with that.....now, some of you are backpedaling. Why? Because you realized how ridiculous it is?

It's very disheartening that some "fans" think Prince was so p-whipped by Vanity that he would resort to such juvenile antics to get her attention. Please.....

This is statement is doing the most. Not one person said anything about pussy whipped bringing down to the base. It is on such a higher level that an attempt to bring down to the flesh is off the mark and maybe not something some can understand.

The discussion about a connection between them was not sexual- that is simplistic and the twin flames is deep and not about what gets you hot and horny.

Prince did engage in juvenille antics . . . there are examples all over the org. It is a theory that has a right to be explored just as much as M1 has a right to share any and everything about Prince to the masses.

There is not a thing wrong if you want to praise M1 for marrying Prince and being Mrs. Nelson but let us not negate that he did have relationships before during and after that marriage.

He and Denise were friends. They connected. If what M1 placed in her book about a thunderbolt was true then yeah Denise was the twin flame. They mirrored and their lives paralled like crazy.

Per reports he was shattered at her death, cried publicly for her and begged God to bring her back to me. This was just last year NOT 17 years ago.

I agree wholeheartedly with the red bolded. The Come album and Vanity's moans on the song Orgasm, saying in the end "I Love you" to her voice is perfect example of those juvenile antics. He knew darn well what everyone would think...

Moreover, understanding that Prince loved many women and possibly Myte doesn't change how I feel about that article. Why does people feel like everything is either black or white? No gray areas for them. They think, If you feel this way, you can't feel another way also. I think Prince loved many women but Vanity was special..

I still think it was suspicious that Prince brought up Vanity. Always had... The question WHY is worth exploring. Not a soul had asked him about her. She was obviously weighing heavily on his mind. He couldn't wait to make that statement. No going around it... Read it in print. He was obviously thinking of her. Why bring her up out of nowhere? Why was he worried about her like that, or what she was saying about him? He was not indifferent to her like he should have been after so many years being apart. He cared enough about her to address his fans about marrying someone else that wasn't her. (keep in mind that she'd just gotten married herself) He also cared enough to address her comment in an interview that was supposed to be about him and his wife....

He was not indifferent to her. Being indifferent to someone is the stone cold truth that you don't care about the person anymore. He was certainly not indifferent... Nothing wrong with entertaining an idea of why, or debating the reasons. All is fair in love and war...

This is the REAL Mayte. She has always resented her paltry divorce settlement from Prince. She was mad because she didn't get that "Purple Rain money," but now she's making up for it. This book is strictly about the vast fortune that she is poised to make by exploiting Prince's name and selling her so-called truth. Shame on her. I predict this shameless, mercenary money-grab is going to backfire on her.

In the event that the link doesn't work, which has been known to happen on selected links on the org, here is the direct link to the Hollywood Exes clip that can be copied and pasted into your browser:

Quite frankly Mayte could've had 50% of everything Prince owned or did, they didn't have a prenup and she could've taken him to the cleaners and she didn't. Which says a couple of things about Mayte; either she was too stupid to realize that she could've had a fortune, OR she just didn't want to go there and make it messy. She still loved him, and still does. My opinion is, she just didn't want to go there, her lawyer told her she was sitting on a gold mine, and she still didn't want to pursue the money.

NO matter she is making up for lost funds with presently with her book. She is getting paid since he died. I do miss Prince but at least Mayte made out well in his death.

I agree with you!! No ones back pedaling!!

There was a reason he kept bringing up Vanity. Its very obvious. What did he say when she passed? "Someone very dear to us has passed"!! Get it!! She was dear, special!!! She still owned his heart!!! Everything is connected....His marriages, his milestones, the Vanity tribute and YES his death!!! No one said he was pwhipped!!! Really??

Agreed. By the time Mayte was in the picture, Vanity should've been a "has been" from at least 10 years prior. There was NO reason for him to be even mentioning her spirit or that everyone thought he was going to marry her when this interview was about him and Mayte.

Yes, they call that earning a living...kinda like Sheila E, The Revolution, Eric Benet, Apples, Devin, and everybody else. Oh Lawd, where's the outrage over them? If Vanity was alive, she'd be cashing in on the $$$ too.
