If that's true than that is beyond shady on Mani's part. I thought in Mayte's books she said very nice things about Manueala (after claiming she stole her husband = which she did)

where did Mani come into this?

OldFriends- I said it was shady on Mani's part because, according to Mayte's book, she said she and Manuela share "a bond" and that they are "friends" ---- what I'm saying is, if Mani is suppossed to be Mayte's friend, she shouldn't be cliquing with the people who hate Mayte but should be taking up for her. What I thought was shady was, if it's true that Mani is following this "boycott Mayte" page--- that's messed up. They're suppossed to be friends. At least, Mayte seem to think they are. And she said very nice things about Manuela in her book.

in the book, Mayte said her relationship with mani is "complicated" and if I were mani personally, I wouldn't find anything good in the book regarding me except that I am a good mom and I have beautiful daughters. lol lol

I felt so endeared toward Apollonia during these shows, seeing her and then Brenda and their words along with the Revolution members and many that were working behind the scenes back then was very touching. I wished she would have held that dignity from then.

Thank you for saying that. Mani doesn't seem to be following the page. Maybe those ladies feel sorry for Manuela and are doing it on her behalf. Maybe they are protective of Prince.

The book has divided his fans. Obviously it is going to divide his associates. Prespectives are different. For example, Shelby may love Prince and still see no harm in the book because she isn't all that offended by the behavior in the book. Jill might see something underhanded or harmful about the book. I read the reviews on Amazon. Some people are hating on Prince, others are feeling sorry for him, some are forgiving, some are saying he had mental illness and was not a bad person. Books, by nature, are interpreted in different ways. The timing of this book couldn't be worse in my opinion though. Until his contributions to the world of music are given due credit and release, this personal stuff is too overshadowing of his legacy.

I agree, but this 'alleged' messiness is not protecting Prince's legacy, it is showing something worse.

Idk

Yes, not the best timing, but when is. If Prince thought better about time, his book would have been completed and out soon. Time, time is not promised to anyone.

You are correct, people interpret books whoever they feel or whatever stirrs in their souls. Put on purple shades it colors the world, but on clear or red it shapes our vision.

At least she could have tried to wait until the entire catalogue is available, some of the concerts are released and the celebration of the one year anniversary of his death is complete. Okay, at the very least after the celebration and one-year reunion. One year is short time to write a book.

Can you imagine the tension in Paisley on April 21-24, when the different camps are showing up to perform. Is Mayte invited? She wants to feel empowered, I get that. But a little bit of a concern for its fall-out would have been nice.

What!? Wait! "Until his contributions to the world of music are given due credit and release..." Are you suggesting they aren't??? Did you not see the world turn purple on April 21st, 2016??? I think the world acknowledges the genius of Prince and his contributions to the world of music. Did you not see a video in which Prince was giving an award to another and that gentleman bowed down to Prince? Did you not see / read / hear superstars discussing the pain of losing Prince? I think the world knows of Prince's contributions to music and do honor that. Prince's legacy is just fine and no book, by ex-wife or anyone else, will damage that legacy. The fact that you think so only says that you doubt his legacy, because no one else I know does.

Its hyperbolic superficial bullshit that doesn't mean a damn thing. Its like giving a person three best actor oscars but making their films mostly unavailable. It is hype. Its not the same thing as true appreciation. Half of his work and much of live performances are not available...Period. All that the hype and media obsession with ex-wives (without a bulk of his music being available) does is make him look overrated as an artist. A celebration of his life's legacy rings a bit hollow now.

His work is not available because that is how Prince made it. It has nothing to do with the level of appreciation that is given to him. Prince chose to go the route he did with his art, and while I may not understand why he made those choices, I respect them.

Mayte wrote a book; the release and media blitz was set to happen April 2017 3 weeks prior to the first anniversary of Prince's transition. That right there shows blatant disrespect to Prince. 12 months in the year and she chose now. She hijacked the first anniversary to be all about her.

These women, Mani, Jill, Apples and the others are not being high schoolish or mean girls. These women have their own opinions . They lived and breatthed time with Prince just as Mayte claims she did.

What makes it ok for Mayte to share her truth across the world and others who knew Prince longer and I would say better than M1 , not be able to share their truth?

JILL

Jill gets beat down by people all the time but whether I agree with her or not she knew Prince prior to Purple Rain, prior to Wendy and Lisa and decades before M1.

Wendy and Lisa are part of the image band, the crossover band . . . imo. Jill was there for the triple threat tours, she knew Prince before the icon. M1 and M2 knew him after and all the image crap.

Jill knew Prince back in the day. There is something about knowing the real person and she knew the real. Apples not so much but she was around too.

JEALOUS OF WHAT?

All this "they are jealous of Mayte " . . . . Someone please school me on why and what is there for them to be jealous of? These women clearly were allowed to know Prince and Jill, M2 had sex with him too. . . . Jill knew him longer than M1 was married to him . Not only does M2 have a huschiband she has 2 lovely children and a charity she runs. Like her or not the schools she is opening in his name does honor him in a way to add postivity to his legacy. She was Mrs. Prince Rogers Nelson for a bit just as M1.

So the only bitter, jealous woman I am seeing is the I'm a get mine woman I see in this scenario. She is the one who started the whole thing by releasing a book that says things many can document are not true and insinuated things about Prince that are heinous . She should have thought it out. Maybe Joe and Joan Public have no clue and will believe anything from M1 but there are those who really knew Prince and were around. What if they decide to tell their truth? They are not going to let her diss him and smile and toss hair and say how much she STILL loves him. confused

To that I say . . . burning baby ashes, and People mag. excerpts of Prince romancing a 16 year old and btw check her real age and the BIG ONE Hijacking Prince's 1st year anniversary. . . now THAT is love.

My Is Rant over.

Why this whole saga on social media knowing the Prince's world would pick apart and speculate thereafter?

I'm tired of hearing "one has the right to publish whatever they want on their page"as a reason to let this whole mess go public and a product of gossiping or desperate attention seeking behavior.

It only shows poor behavior.

How may of you would post pictures or posts aiming at attacking their "friends" on their own page?

BoycottMayte has their truth

Every action causes a reaction. Prince was not just M1's he belonged to the world and was one of the most beloved icons of our time. The people who knew him and fans alike are hurting and raw. He has been gone just one year in 2 iweeks and instead of celebrating him we have a pot stirrer who hijacked this time .

I'm still waiting on someone to provide me with the link that Prince stopped the book before. Otherwise, all I've ever seen was what people on here have said and have seen no evidence that Prince actually tried to stop the book.

Benni,

Do you see why people feel hurt by the timing of the book and that some feel betrayed and that she betrayed Prince?

No. I don't. For starters, there would never be a good time for Mayte to release the book. There would always be those that would say she is "trying to cash in" even if she waited 10 years to release it. Why do you feel betrayed? What did she do to you? And she did not betray Prince. How did she betray Prince? Because she talked about HER feelings and her time with him? As, I said, I'm still waiting for a link to show that Prince actually tried to stop the book. Otherwise, it's just hearsay, and you all know what Prince felt about hearsay.

What you said can be said and is what I have been saying about Mayte's book due to the excerpts in People mag.

I think the timing is short sighted and selfish and deliberate. Actions speak louder than words any day.

I felt the same way and was outraged when the book was to be released. I too think Prince would have wanted this chapter to be kept private.

There is however something to be said about the professionalism of former associates. Attacking publicly will naturally stir up drama and is simply not the best move for a "public" person.

This is my normal life. These marital standards cannot be recreated with money.
