Thank you. Yeah, it was getting pretty ugly last time I looked. Probably not the last time where this book is concerned.

Why are online articles allowed to cherry pick the fvck out of the book, then?

The cover pic of the book is fine. Anything in between the covers is not as the org does not have permission to allow reproduction of the contents of any pics/images and paragraphs.

You can move on now.

I don't know why, but what I thought was interesting was Manuella was the one who broke the news to Mayte of Prince's passing.

I loved the audiobook. Very respectful, and also honest. I'm glad she shared this part of her life. She certainly didn't have to. In doing so, she gives a whole new understanding of the two of them and their relationship. What a story!

I'm not sure if I should buy the book and read it. rolleyes On the one hand, I am curious what is in it, on the other hand, P did not want to bring anything private to the public and should have prevented a premiere publication.

Especially since P can no longer describe his view of things.

It is certain that she wants to earn money with the book.

Looks like she's been reading all the negative comments about why she didn't have the urn. She seems to have lost track of it.

He, Prince, is not revealing any private details. Mayte is. Her life. Her story. Told her way.

Of course she wants to earn money. She has a daughter to feed, clothe and educate (the love and care she provides is free 😉). And, she is passionate about her stewardship of the defenseless animals we humans tend to so thoughtlessly discard.

I have read the book and believe me, she has enjoyed NO benefit from his death, whatsoever. She does not disrespect him in any way. As a matter of fact, she does a very good job conveying her unyielding devotion to the man.

I leave you with this thought from Prince...."If you set your mind free baby, maybe you'd understand...."

I'm up to chapter 5.... if you wanna read it then do so. It's more of her story really and Prince happens to be a central figure. I don't wanna give a lot away in case people want to be surprised but it has filled in some holes for me as far as her childhood and dancing career. She's stayed "stuck" on Prince due to things that happened to her when she was young and probably being a child when she met him.

She also was doing her own thing when they met. She'd saved hundreds of thousands of dollars by the time she even met him all from working as a kid. She wasn't a golddigger has some have said. Her parents were supportive stage parents who drover her all over Europe to perform and managed every detail of her career. Personally, I think they all saw Prince as another opportunity. It doesn't appear at all that any of them thought a romantic relationhip would happen. After she was a child when they met. Honestly, what parent would think that??? I think some of the random things she says about Prince are cute. Prince was private but he did reveal himself in his songs. How is that different than writing a book? It was her life and story too. IMO, no ex (famous or otherwise) has the right to control all sides of a relationship. She has just as much right as anyone to talk about him just as he did her while they were together.

She was there. You were not. As for Prince not speaking to her when she miscarried - what an asshole!!

Sometimes people have no words...even though they might want to...especially when they feel helpless in what to say to someone they love who is hurting as badly as they're hurting.

I don't he meant to be an assh*le, although it probably turned out to feel that way to her...but after such a tragic event, I think he was at a loss as to what to say or do to help her.

I also think he felt guilty...he might've felt as if, after all, if he hadn't gotten her pregnant in the first place she wouldn't have lost 2 babies and ended up hurting.

Just a thought.

confused sad

I read somewhere (I can't remember where, sorry) that after their first child was born and there were problems, Prince prayed with Mayte everyday that things turn out right, I think his spiritual beliefs influenced him, when during Mayt's pregnancy with their second child, the medical staff wanted to intervene, because they felt because of her bleeding, her life was in danger, I don't believe for a second that Prince didn't care about Mayte safety, I think it's more that he wanted more time, he said "let nature take it's course" maybe he thought if he took her to the Hospital he would be interfering with this, Prince always believed in the power of healing, since he was a child, I think at some point he would have taken her, but I think when he ordered the Limo to take her to the Hospital he wasnt quite ready to do so himself, he still had hope, misguided or not, just my feeling...

Yup

And to be clear...there was no baby in Mayte's body by that time. I don't think the average person, especially a man, realizes that even after a birth if even the slightest bit of placenta (afterbirth) is still left in the body the woman will continue to hemmhorage. It's the body's way of trying to flush the foreign matter from the body. It's how women died during childbirth or botched abortions way back when. A small bit of afterbirth left inside and the women bled to death.

As a nurse, that's why we massage the woman's tummy until the uterus feels firm. As long as it's all stretched out and flabby "boggy" it's a bleeding risk.

In Mayte's case, the fertilized egg had already left her body and left behind the plactental tissue which a D&C would remove and she'd stop bleeding (what had left her body was never going to be a baby anyway cuz it was not a true viable pregnancy look it up, she could've gone 9 months and all that would've come out was a mass of random tissue sorta similar to a tumor).

Ok, so scared Mom in hysterics thinking this asshat's going to let me bleed to death and scared Dad who heard D&C and probably assumed, in his ignorance, we'll wait and "let nature take it's course with amiscarraige" not understanding that the miscarraige had already happened. He heard D&C and thought "abortive procedure" which went against his JW beliefs instead of "cleaning uterus procedure" which didn't go against his beliefs. JWs have D&Cs for many reasons, just not D&Cs for the purpose of abortion.

Someone didn't explain things too well to either Mayte or P. That miscommunication left him in a spiritual limbo and left her feeling abandoned.

In the end, P's decision to send her to the hospital was from love but he didn't go most likely because he didn't want her action to impact his faith in G*d.

It's such a shame that this lack of information caused them such pain.

isn't D&C a fairly simple process by which the cervix is dilated (Dilation) and the lining of the uterus scraped out? (Curettage?) many women with menstrual disorders undergo this procedure, or am i missing something?

Maybe the book was completed or near completion when Prince died and if so, his death was bad timing for her (book). Just another way of looking at it.

When did we first hear about this book? Was she talking about it being in the works while he was still alive? Would it have come out if he was still alive? I'll admit I don't pay a lot of attention to Mayte's life/career but I don't seem to remember this book being discusssed prior to Prince dying.

I can't remember the name of the thread- something like "Mayte's writing a book" started by KCoolMuziq back before Prince passed. This is one of the many reasons I've always thought KCoolMuziq was Prince- He "announced" many things on here first, Prince's memoir, Mayte's book, the plane incident, the Piano and Microphone tour---- anyway, if the moderators would just let us know who Prince was, we would have the answers on how Prince felt about it. If he indeed was, KCool, then we would know that he was not okay as KCoolMuziq was on here saying, "She will be stopped" (and she was) and also saying, if I remember correctly, "Prince gave Mayte and her mother enough, they don't need any more from him" .....

Interesting. IMO only someone delusional would think the timing of this book wasn't intentional. There is no way this book would be published if he was still alive.

prince was misguided and wrong about wanting to let nature take its course. God heals, but God also gives us free will. I am a pro-life person, I do not believe in abortion unless it's a circumstance like the woman's life being in danger. And fortunately, Mayte had the ability to make decisions for herself (because in some countries women might not be able to do so), and she did the right thing for herself by getting the D & C.

D&C is a pretty simple procedure. But is, as Mayte writes, her doctor described it as "surgery" although it's accurate it's also overdramatic and I think men in general not understanding women's bodies would freak out...and a man trying to stay true to what his spiritual beliefs are, might believe it was being done for an abortion. D&C is the exact same procedure for that as it is for a simple uterine cleaning.

In the old days a doctor would say he was doing a D&C when it was an abortive procedure cuz abortion wasn't legal back then.

Same procedure, same result (empty uterus), different intent.

For those on here that never checked Funkenberry's website or twitter feed, you were made to believe that KCool had all the latest news. But Funkenberry was first. And Prince wanted it that way. KCool would just re-post things here. There were a few others with twitter feed that would do that too, almost as if they were trying to desperately get noticed by Prince. It was a bit pathetic.
