Hi Penny...my thoughts as follows:

Does anyone know how many chapters are in the book? My vote would be chapter by chapter. First chapter read by April 10th and discussion begins on the 11th. Or something along those lines. Also, there could be specific talking points of each chapter (a list of ques prepared by a reader presented the day before discussion...a different reader each week could prep ques), individual interpretations of each chapter or basic discussion regarding each chapter.

And anyone could still read ahead but focus could be on a chapter by chapter format.

My thoughts....fwiw!

Ok, that's kinda of what DD55 also said about the Chapters. I kinda think it's going to be a fast read for all of us, and I really don't want to go into the date of April 21st, (our minds will be frazzled that day)

.

You can read ahead if you like but the discussions will take place on these dates.

Chapter 1 discussion will begin April 10 (we've got to wait until everyone gets their book)

Chapter 2 discussion will begin April 12

Chapter 3 .... April 14

And so on.

Is everybody ok with doing the talking points, with each chapter?

I had no intention of reading this book since I don't see it as much more than a cash-in but, hey, I had a credit on audible to spare so i'm after purchasing the audiobook so I guess i'm in.

How about people just use spoilers on their post, mention the chapter they're going to talk about if they think they're skipping ahead?

anyway, do we know who the ghostwriter of this is?

Sounds good to me...my books ordered from Amazon usually arrive within about 2 days. Anticipate I should have it by the 6th, the 8th at the latest. I would imagine each purchasing outlet (Amazon, B&N, etc.) already have the books and are just waiting for the official release date to start processing orders. Agree with the 21st. Will be a difficult day, for sure.

Again, thanks so much for organizing this.

Thanks for organizing! I'm not gonna lie, mine is on preorder and I'll probably blast through it as soon as I get it so...I'll just discuss chapter by chapter as indicated in thread if that's what is decided?

Ok, so we all know that we all will just read the heck out of this book. But we will go chapter by chapter. And of course if we all get done we don't have to be set to certain days!

.

I ordered mine from Barnes & Noble only because I had a gift card, otherwise I would've ordered from Amazon for my Kindle Fire. UPS is going to be pretty darn busy delivering to our houses!! lol

Certain predictable non-readers are chomping at the bit with anticipation to troll and flame this thread.

Having lurked on that other thread, I predict that there's at least one or two in particular who will show up in this thread with nothing more to contribute than to cast aspersons on and to character assassinate the lovely Miss Garcia — without ever even having read the book.

I hope that legitimate book readers here will be vigilant in siccing the moderators on those inevitable trolls, flamers and baiters who have already sworn so emphatically in the other thread that they won't be reading the book.

I assure you this will not happen, and if it does, those people will be removed. (already taking names) Are you going to join us in reading the book? Join us.

Thanks for that invite PennyPurple.

I ordered the book a week and a half ago.,

I can't commit to weighing in here on any scheduled basis. But I'd like the option to chime in at some point. If that's OK?

Can I play too? I won't get mine till the morning of the 6th...so I'll probably have finished it by lunchtime wink But I think a chapter at a time sounds great. Thanks for organizing this Penny, and thanks also for your intention to keep it civil. The relentless dragging of Mayte is doing my head in. That said, it might well raise some tough questions, so I hope we can talk about that, without decending into nastiness...I think we all just want to understand P better, and try and understand what happened, and how M's version of her part of that story might shed light on that. Anyway, cheers smile

I think this a good idea. Even if people will read the book in one or two days (and you all know you will!), they can still discuss it chapter by chapter without giving anything away.

Thanks everyone for joining! Anyone who reads the book is free to partake in convo here! The dates for the discussion of the chapters may be moved up because everyone will probably get thru the book really quick!

Can't wait to get it!

I pre ordered mine in September through Amazon. I just checked and it says the expected ship date is today. I'll admit, I'll probably read it in one day but I will try to make time to partake in the conversation. I don't like some of the nasty name calling I have read on the other thread so I look forward to some nice friendly ADULT conversation.

I'd like to join too...I rarely post on the org nowadays but the book interests me and I would welcome a friendly and informative discussion. I'm a long time fan from way back in 1984. I have no strong opinions on Mayte or her motivation for writing the book, my mind is open to reading it and maybe learning more about Prince as a person, and Mayte herself of course. I'm aware of the other thread and what is happening there, and it's not something I want to participate in, so I welcome the opportunity for a different kind of discussion. I'm away when the book is published but will get it on kindle and will catch up as soon as I can!

I would like to join also. I ordered my book on same day it could be pre-ordered. I, however, may not be able to check in as scheduled. Will participate as I can. By choice, I've stayed away the other thread once it went beyond civil. Thank you!
