Well, no. Didn't each of them carry on with studio & entertainment careers, albeit with a normal amount of professional success vs the superstardom found with their former exceptional bandleader? I wouldn't call that "falling flat" as if they'd been steamrolled to the pavement. Some of these people's works were actually top-of-the-industry award-winning--dang! lol

>

Just because you don't like what they're saying about their association with Prince. rolleyes

I acknowlege Wendy and Lisa's accomplishment scoring TV shows and I believe they won awards for composing. I'm not sure what award winning work you're referring to with the other Revolution members. and even be, I referred to their individual studio music which sucked bad, and their live performances which to me falls flat without Prince as the leader.

Just because YOU don't like what I'M saying about Revolution members. ROLL EYES....

I have no problems leaving our conversation where it stands. I didn't really refer to any PARTICULAR member of the band's achievements, although you did pick up on W&L's award-winning tv scoring work, I see. At any rate if the band members are happy with what they've acheived for themselves, then that's okay for them, regardless of eyerolls at the spectre of their careers. razz

I think Wendy and Lisa's studio albums are really good. At one point I considered them to be one of my favorite artists. They more than proved they could hold their own in making quality music.

Brownmark's first album is overflowing with pop hooks--very underrated.

"Falling flat", I definitely disagree with that assessment.

That period was an 80s - 90s transitional period

A lot of bands from the 70s and 80s struggled

But they definately cultivated a following and respect in the industry

Brownmark's first album. Oh no. disbelief Our taste in music so different. I gave that one away to the library. lol I can't get into Wendy and Lisa's music. I tried. Some songs are okay, but their songs dont move me the way Prince's does post-Revolution.

Re: their plan to "let the audience sing" some of the songs...

.

That'll be an ungodly trainwreck.

.

And re: their idea to bring up guest artists that happen to be available in any given city they're playing... GOOD LUCK... unless they set the standard for who they'll let onstage exceedingly low...

.

I'd like to see their show, but the whole 'winging it' attitude about lead vocals sounds like a grave miscalculation...

Yeah--agreed. It'd be nice if they could recruit individuals who can commit to participate on some of their tour dates. It'd be cool if they could attract other acts as openers, not necessarily 80s-era people, but people who vibe with the era. Maybe that could get their creative juices flowing for future endeavors beyond the nostalgia tour.

I don't think it will be as it sounds.

There were parts of the Septemeber shows where the audience sang pieces, and it was pretty cool and clean

The little I've heard of the Vegas show was really good, so I guess it is more worked out that Wendy was able to express here

I haven't heard Wendy and Lisa's albums. I'd like to give them a listen. Are they still available?

That is the deal breaker for me. To me, having Bilal or Eric Benet front The Revolution for any dates just seems like bad karaoke or a crappy Vegas act. I would rather Wendy, Brown Mark or Andre Cymone sing lead.

All the Wendy & Lisa albums are available for downloading or streaming on the usual sites. The first two I believe are still in print if physical CDs are your thing. Their second one, Fruit at the Bottom is the funkiest and most Prince-like. Their fourth album, Girl Bros. is the most personal.

My choice 4 lead vocals would be Andre Cymone and Dez Dickerson. They both vocally have a similar tone 2 Prince. Wendy and Lisa should do backing vocals.

Hey don't forget White Flags of Winter Chimneys. That album is solid and have some flair. Its their last album and wow they did that in 2009 nearly 10 years ago.

I check their site and is in updating status. I hope Renata will have a page that make their albums more accessible as I am sure people have been googling Wendy and Lisa a lot these days.

Here is what Andre Cymone posted in February regarding why he will not be touring with The Revolution:

Of course he wouldn't. Whatever he was doing or promoting right at that moment was always the best thing Prince ever did, whether he believed it or not.

.

It also wasn't a dig at the NPG.

How could it not have been? She needs to check out some of the brilliant live performances post-Revolution. It takes a "band" to get that Musicology/One Nite Alone sound. At all times, Prince was a premier Bandleader. Think Miles Davis and not The Beatles. Wendy has always given the Revolution too much credit.

I think that's the point though and clearly shows why it wasn't a dig. Miles Davis after a while LED bands, the Beatles WERE a band together. Prince commanded many bands throughout his life, he led many bands throughout his life, but I understand what Wendy and co. mean when they say the Revolution was the last band that he was IN - he wasn't in charge of the revolution the way that he was in charge of the other bands even though yes he clearly led them and they clearly helped express his ideas.

"Where you are now is in a place that does not require time." - Rest In Power, PRINCE

Yes he did. They had the whole audience (of other Stars) captivated that night
