Susan Rogers Interview: THE PRINCE PODCAST

http://podcastjuice.net/t...interview/

A great 3 hour interview conducted by Michael Dean. A lot of great information was dispensed by Susan Rogers for aspiring musicians, recording engineers and technicians. I have a deeper appreciation for Susan Rogers as a person, an academic professor and contributor to the performing arts. And at 1:41 mark, she proves she can carry a tune.

Do u guys know other interview podcasts? Now that I have a smartphone I listen to those while walking. I've now discovered Michael Dean's podcast, listened to the Revolution special by Questlove and the Red Bull Academy interviews with Susan and Sheila. I'm not interested in podcasts just talking about Prince but I'd love to hear any that features interviews by former collaborators. Thx hug

Dr Funkenberry has had some good guests recently including Morris Hayes, Adrian Crutchfield, PP engineers/employees Scott Baldwin, Dave Hampton, Chris James and Dylan Dresdow. I'm not the biggest Dr F fan but these interviews are well worth a listen.

Bit bizarre that this is in associated artists. Maybe they should rename the podcast "The Prince associated artists podcast".

Interesting that Susan says she has heard the Purple Rain Deluxe from warners and that its "gonna be great". I guess this quashes the rumours that it has been cancelled.

On another note how annoying is M Dean, if only there was a way to mute his annoying ass..."whats that song called...uh...For Destiny" shrug

FANTASTIC. I think Susan Rogers, like Alan Leeds, is one of the best people to talk about Prince. Her insight is so unique. She was there! The talk abouit Jesse Johnson, MJ and high res quality music was just bliss for me.

She has been so open...she obviously knows what it is like to be a true fan at this point. We're starving for more info and she is taking the chance to tell us.

Susan asks they question, would you, as a fan want unfinished tracks finished by associated artists? And both hosts of the show say no! Leave them alone! And I completely agree. It's like finding Rembrandt sketches and having a contemporary artist finish it. Lol
Leave them be. The sketches are sometimes just as interesting as the finished product. I love looking at the sketches and cast offs of famous artists. It's historical archival material now. Now like a museum, we need them released so future generations could enjoy and study them.

LOL!

I'm gonna add that to my title "Annoying ass Dean"

Yes she said PR special edition is on the way. Couldn't talk about it, but it's coming.

Now maybe it's time and possible for a decent Prince site. Hopefully since the podcast people have connections, they could build a website around it.
It's an idea.

One of the most informative listens on Prince I've listened to. And again it's always good when whom ever is doing an interview like this, to let her talk and not interrupt. You want to keep listening and want her to keep talking because it's Prince is subject that's been a mystery for so long and we finally have intellegent people who were there working beside him tell the story. Really fascinating.

Then what is your real beef with Mike. This interview is excellent he lets Susan talk and his questions are from his own poll on his Facebook page. You know questions that people want to actually know the answers to instead of the foolish from the mainstream media.

Not really, the interview is pretty similar to the one she gave to the red bull lecture a short while back. Or the one she did with izotope before that. It's Susan that makes this interesting not Mike.
As for "beef", I'll admit I don't really like the way he charges prince fans to listen to discussions of uncirculating material, knowing full well there are people who will pay, not because they are interested in what he has to say but because they are desperate to hear even a snippet of something new. But that's a different subject.
I just find it funny that someone who claims to be a hardcore fan consistently gets the names of songs wrong, or forgets the name altogether. Maybe I should have put "amusing" rather than "annoying"

I couldn't agree more. The demos and such are snapshots in time that need to be preserved and released as is (aside from maybe cleaning up the sound). The thought of people messing with Prince's music makes my stomach turn.

No, he charges because he knows he can make money from desperate prince fans. I'm not one so i dont pay. Explain how he will get into trouble and with whom? its bullshit.

I'm not sure what exactly i'm supposed to be jealous of, but if thats how it sounds so be it, i dont give a fuck if u think that

/- It is copyrighted material do I really have to explain that you. If you don't want to don't pay anything why knock what someone else is doing or worry about what other people are spending their money on. If you are not jealous you must have too much free time on your hands.
