Sheila E. in Australia (UPDATED with videos & reports of her 3 concerts)

Sheila E. is currently performing in Australia.

Reports indicate that last night's concert was awesome.

She also did two live televised interviews today.

For those of you that have or will be attending the concerts and/or have watched the interviews, please share your experience checking her out.

Thank you!

I was at the sold out Melbourne show. It was good fun!
Highlights for me were:
- the short versions of Erotic City and 17 Days (I love those songs)
- Sheila using a water bottle to do the opening of Herbie Hancock's Watermelon Man (Headhunters version)
- her drum kit solo (no surprise there wink )
- the Transmississippi rap
- The Glamorous Life (obviously)

Sheila was very energetic and looked like she was enjoying herself. The band were great. They played a lot of Prince songs, she performed Boy Meets Girl.
Could someone tell me what was the song that had (I think) "Carnival" as the chorus?

Glad I went
cool

Thanks for sharing. It sounds awesome.

Are you referring to the song "Fiesta"?

Maybe, I didn't know the name of the song and that's why I asked. Coz I really liked it!

"Fiesta" is on her latest album. It sounds like that's the song.

I went to the Melbourne show - as great as it was, often time it felt like a Prince tribute show more than anything. Theye were aa few moments where I had critisisms like "why is your band performing Diamonds and Pearls (a song that you had zero involvement with) when you could be performing Noon Rendezvous or Olivers House?".

Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

That's great that you were there.

Noon Rendezvous and Olivers House are great songs.

Yes he was. I'd consider him the highlight of the show, actually.

United was asking about a song that she performed at the Melbourne show. Was that "Fiesta"?

.

I agree.

I do understand the Fabulous Sheila E wanting to sprinkle/pepper Prince songs in her show - it's even her "right" to do that if she wants..

but Sheila, in her own right, has an impressive list of her own songs that she can & should be doing.

.

I saw her here in Denver in April 2015 - she put on a great show, obviously, & I appreciate that she did her own music then. obviously, Prince was still alive then, so there was no impetus (sp?) for her to make it a "Prince tribute show"..

I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

I'll be going to the Sydney show tonight. I never thought I'd see her live...so delighted she has made the trip to Australia...would've been good if she came to Brisbane too...

I honestly can't wait!!

She was simply SENSATIONAL tonight in Sydney.
She turns 59 tomorrow and Sheila and her band simply blew the roof off the theatre.
The audience was in great form and for one of her songs she left the stage and went into two different sections of the audience and sang with a guitar.
She was incredibly gracious with audience handshakes and selfies.
That band is so tight with simply excellent musicians and singers.
If you get the opportunity to see them - do it !!!

The song she sang from the balcony was Rockstar, then she walked back through the audience and it segued into the guitar solo from Purple Rain. She was so at ease with the crowd.

Eddie M was out meeting the fans at the end taking selfies with them.

Great show, thoroughly enjoyed it. Highlight for me...The Belle of St Mark. I've lived that song since I was a kid...never thought I'd get the chance to hear it live.

Wow. Thanks for posting. This gig looks great & the crowd are loving it. I've seen her several times in London with & without a backing vocalist. She now has two which is great as Sheila can dance, drum & lead the band more. I hope she brings this show to London. Also the emotion from Sheila is real & intense & is difficult to watch. I'm sure she is healing in doing this type of purple heavy show.
If I had to be picky I would prefer her not to perform songs like D&P & obvious hits she wasn't connected too. Lovesexy or Black Album cuts would be better IMO.
Sheila will always keep his legacy alive & long may she!

SAY IT LOUD, I'M PURPLE & PROUD. 💜
