Sheila E. & battle over Prince's Estate

.

Sheila is frustrated over all the drama surrounding Prince's estate and has said she has "walked away".

.

I think she just feels hurt and shut-out by Prince's family because she claims that she was a part of Prince's vision for Paisley Park.

.

This is all just so sad and unfortunate.

.

*** MODERATORS NOTE ***

Sheila just tweeted this:

"FYI I am asking for a retraction. They printed lies. Awful #whyidontdointerviews twitter.com/purpleoneart/s…"

This is unfortunate but I wish she'd stop trying to position herself as "ex-fiance" as though that relationship was a recent one instead of 30 years ago. It makes he appear thirsty for attention and isn't necessary.

I like Sheila E and all but she has no business meddling the family business instead she should had this supportive friend attitude like If you need anything please ask. I don't like how the family continued to let the media called Prince a drug addict and still not set the record straight but I know my role as a fan. It is best to walk away like she said in that Who magazine article.

While I agree that something seems amiss with Sheila and the Estate, I don't believe it is necessarily with the family. I have seen her tweets asking for prayers for the family and theirs supporting some of the things that she has done. Although her romantic involvement had ended long ago with P, Ibelieve they were forever friends, even if they had had disagreements. I think she doesn't agree with the way that some things are being done (as in she doesn't think it would have been what P wanted) and maybe smells a rat with what happened to him. In any event, I wouldn't put one bit of faith in anything reported by this trash journalism and it won't surprise me if Sheila doesn't put out a tweet to call them out on it.

Yes, I agree. I find that "ex-fiance" thing kinda annoying!! She sounds attention-seeking.

.

Personally, I have nothing against Sheila E. I respect her feelings and her music. She had a very close relationship with Prince for many years, and I can't even begin to imagine the hurt she is in.

.

But, I really wish all of these "ex-girlfriends/wives" would stop riding on Prince's coattails! rolleyes

I agree with you! However, I do understand how Sheila is hurt. I know I would be too. I think she feels "shut-out" of decisions being made for his music and PP. But on the other hand, I understand that this is a "family matter", and Sheila really has no say in it, whatsoever.......UNLESS Prince's family wanted to include her in the decision-making; then, that would be a different story.

I agree. The media is very skillful and distorting the truth. Sheila & Prince had a relationship/bond that none of us could probably ever understand. She is hurt, and her feelings do matter. I just want the best for Prince's music, his legacy and PP.

.

I'm sure, when this is all said and done, Sheila will have somthing to say about it.

You nailed it. Vanity, Susannah, Mayte, Manuella, possibly Jill, Kim B., Susan and more are all ex's in some fashion, either fiance or wife. Sheila girl - you're another one in a long line. Take a number, and wait your turn. The fact that Sheila has "walked away" just means that she's finally figured out this ain't her business anymore. Never really was, in this scope of it all.

Sheila is really irritating me lately with her shit. I love ol' girl. Granted, she had a relationship w/ Prince that 99.9999% of the rest of us never had in any regard. But her overt riding of the ol' coattails is a bit much at this point. It was just a few years ago she made a flat out statement on her FB that she would never be working with Prince again...evar. And now she's on his dick more than she was when he was alive and kicking. Just stop already.

The people that should have always been in charge of Prince's music and Paisley Park is Tyka and the immediate family. PERIOD. She's part of the history, but so are hundreds of others, whether Morris, Jill, Jerome, Wendy, Andre, Dez, Boni, Parke, or whodafuqever. Again Sheila - get in your lane, and stay there.

From the ladies own mouth. cool Imagine if it was against the law for news outlets and the media to tell lies and make things up. All would be obsolete.

Sheila shouldn't be involved with anything to do with the estate unless the family asks for her help. It's actually none of Sheila's business. I understand that they were lovers and friends, but heck...look at all the others he had, so it isn't like she is anything special. I've always liked Sheila E, but anymore I'm kind of getting tired of her.

agree, this is his family business - leave it to his family to figure out. Girlfriends, ex-wives, "muses", lovers, hit & runs and "fiancees" and the like have no business in the estate. If he would've wanted them involved he would've included them in a will, set up a trust or married of late.

Right?

I like Sheila, always have, but I don't like seeing undignified and unecessary clawing & scratching among "previous females" whatever thier relationships.

Stop trying to jockey for position. You had a covetted place in his life. You have nothing to prove.

I think if the family wanted her input, they would have asked. Then again, the media distorts things (per Sheila's recent tweet), so no surprise there!

.

I'm sure her rift (supposed) with P's family is being overly-dramatized.

Ah, but that tweet about not working with P again, when asked why, she responded with "because of P". This was some disagreement the two of them had, which has never been revealed and, according to Sheila, they had made their amends.

Sheila is a step above the other exes though when it comes to the music business. A huge step.
She has decades of experience and was Prince's longtime colleague and friend, arguments or differences and all.
I have always thought she would be a good choice to assist with decisions now.
Of course I don't know how she is to work with, or how any of these people are to work with, behind closed doors.

I think it is also worth noting that after Prince's passing, any business arguments between then I'm sure became a total non-factor. She really cares about his legacy. It's just that not everyone has the same ideas about what should happen now.

I am a big fan of Sheila E. but for Sheila E. Although I acknowledge she is an important person in Prince's world, I look at her artistic work and I command her for being such a talented musician.

It is unfortunate things are not working out with his family. I wish they could work together to honor his legacy.

I do respect the family, their wishes, and their rights but I also nocitce how Prince has not mentioned any of them much over the years. It seems they are taking over because the law stipulates they are the ones entitled to do so and not necessary for it being Prince's wish.

This is my normal life. These marital standards cannot be recreated with money.

You mean the "queen of paisley park" can't have a say in how it's run? My heart bleeds. Sorry, don't buy the retraction tweet...sure tabloids have a way of twisting words but there's no smoke without fire. I'd be willing to bet she's bitter because she's breaching copyright issues and she's probably been informed of that by the Estate. I've really changed my mind about Sheila, she's not coming across well lately. neutral

She has been reportedly embroiled in a bitter war over her late ex-fiance Prince's estate.

But iconic percussionist Sheila E, has revealed that she has washed her hands with the rumoured $300 million estate, telling Who magazine: 'I have walked away.'

Just months earlier, the drummer was rumoured to have her eyes set on controlling the estate instead of Prince's sister Tyka Nelson.

I understand this might be tabloid talk, BUT, why would Sheila think she would control anything that has to do with the Estate? Doesn't make sense. Surely it isn't true that she thought she would control estate, I mean I think she's smarter than that. So I would take this article with a grain of salt.

She's not acting as if she is hurting more than anyone else. She is just hurting.

Fired from what? She was shortchanged twice during Prince's Welcome 2 tours, they made things right since then
