? 4 BrownMark ...

I'm preparing a question n answer 4/with BrownMark

.

He doesn't like interviews so I thought giving him some prepared questions, so he has the time/quality to answer them.

.

Let's represent with quality questions that go beyond the average...
Those of you who know music, who are bass players, who have more intricate questions about his studio/live work with Prince 1981-1986, songs from his solo albums he's done with Prince, the style/clothing etc

if it were me, i would ask him what he has been told about prince's death and if he believes that info/story. i would ask him about his gear during his prince yrs and presently. i would ask him about fretless basses, if he plays them and if he does, what the differences are.

BrownMark? The vibes given off by these two stage personas, seem — in my opinion — in stark contrast to one another…

On the left, is a hip, bad-ass punk rock dude who likes nothing more than trashing hotel rooms with Keith & Mick, before driving his Rolls into the swimming pool.

While, on the right is a studious, clean-cut captain of the varsity football team of the local college, who likes nothing more than going to ice-cream socials with Archie, Jughead, Veronica and the gang.

I'm speaking metaphorically, of course, with those two comparisons, BrownMark : د ) So I hope you don't take offense.

My only intention in making those metaphorical comparisons, is to establish the context for my first question. Which is…

  1. When you were playing with Prince, were you chomping at the bit for a chance to finally play the kind of music that you eventually released immediately after you left The Revolution?

  2. What is the backstory or the inspiration behind your name, BrownMark?

  3. Do you have a will?

  4. In the verses of Skeletons In My Closet, you sing in the third person — {"…his shoulder…" — "…his mother…" — "…his father…"}. Then in the chorus, you sing in the first person — {"my closet…"}. So, is Skeletons In My Closet autobiographical? Or is it about a composite of several different fictional characters?

  5. I had always secretly hoped that you chose the title, "Syx Mil Breach", to commemorate the event of your royalty earnings eventually exceeding the six million dollar mark : د ) What does "Syx Mil Breach" actually mean, BrownMark?

  6. Singing in a voice that sounds so eerily like Prince, is not something that just anybody can do, BrownMark. What is "the trick" to singing in a voice that sounds so uncannily like Prince? For example — Is there something you do with the muscles in your throat? — or chest? — or nose? Or is it more a mental-state-of-mind type thing, that you have to psyche yourself into to get your voice to sound so Prince-like? Or is it something unconscious and effortless that just comes from singing backup for him for so long?

Thanks in advance for your answers, BrownMark : د )

PhatPhuk: mark told the backstory of his name on his first podcast. prince told the band they needed to think of a nickname for mark. prince said brownmark a then fell about laughing. mark was none too happy with it because he felt that prince was higlhlighting the fact that he was darker than Dez which made MB the darkest member of the group.

Cool. Would love to know what Six Myl Breach meant (I always wondered if it meant a breach of contract) and also as much info as possible about the recording of the Mazarati debut album. Heard it was a very close collaboration with Prince, with Prince & Mark playing everything. Wonder if it was Prince on live drums.
