Meet Mayte in Minnesota Oct 14

Dang it. Wish I didn't have to work that day. I would love to go to this. I hope a lot of people sign up as they have at other classes she offered.

Seriously, why does it have to be in Minnesota and during all the Prince events. Can't it be just about him?

Still trying to ride on his coat tails.

Because she was invited by his family to be a part of it....does that mean everybody performing is going to be riding his coattails? Isnt this tribute show about riding his coattails? why don't you throw shade at Morris or some of the other people...why are you directing it at Mayte....come on already and get off it.

She may have been invited by the family, that doesn't mean she had to give a belly dancing class and profit off it. This is about PRINCE, not mayte. Yes, she is still riding on his coattails. She can't just show up and show her respect. She's all bout the $$

Let's try and make this constructive for Mayte. Indeed, we don't know her personally and yet have a tendency to hate on her for anything she does. But, what could be recommended for her in this Prince's world other than getting a life, going to hell, going to college, stop using Prince's name, stop claiming she was the only loved one,...Is there anything she can learn and take from these conversations that eventually turn into a venting zone.

We know she'll be given feedback, we might as well.

This is my normal life. These marital standards cannot be recreated with money.

Personally, I think Prince's family needs to lose her number. If she doesn't respect Prince or them enough to just show up and show her respect, then she needs to stay home and not worry about giving a belly dancing class in Minnesota. Seriously.

So you are cool with the family throwing dance parties every night and charging 250.00 to shake there hand?

Mayte, who fans knew and appreciated more, is giving a full hour and a half class....two of them as a matter of fact for 60.00 a class is not fair...with proceeds going to her animal rescue?

Enough already.....

Again, the point is not to compare with what others are doing but to give constructive criticism to Mayte. Hard to compare family's actions with hers...

I have no problem with the bellydance class. Like Meltedman said, she is offering a service- she is working. I personally think she should move to Minneapolis and give her classes there all the time- It would be part of the whole experience- Go to the museum- stay at the Chanhassen Inn- take a bellydance class with your kid or your sister or your mom-- seriously- I think it's a good idea. confused

Wow. People just can't be f***** nice in one single thread. You had several other threads already that turned into hate on Mayte, but you still couldn't just leave one free of that s***?! Unfreakinbelievable. As far as I'm concerned the mods can go ahead and delete this whole thread. We didn't need another negative one on here. Screw it.

I'm glad she is doing it. Wish I could be there. I know the proceeds go to a VERY worthy cause. She works hard at rescuing shelter animals, animals that would otherwise be put down. Mayte is NOT the money hungry person everyone seems to want to paint her as. I was not going to share this, because it was personal to me and out of respect for Mayte. I saw Mayte was doing an online garage sale and sent her an email asking if she had anything small, something that would be within my price range, that had belonged Prince, that he used, wore, whatever. I explained to her what Prince had meant to me and how he had touched my life and helped me to overcome a life of no self-confidence, trauma, etc. She replied back, asking for my address, told me that everything small like that she had already sold years ago, but that she did have something she could send to me to keep. True to her word, she sent me something, 4 small items. I will keep them and treasure them. She didn't ask anything for them. She was just gave them to me. Since that time I donated money to her animal rescue because I wanted to help her cause. If all she cared about was money, she could have told me she had nothing and that the smallest thing she had cost several hundred dollars (which is what similar items are going for on ebay).

All Mayte wants to do is make enough money to live on and to get her animal rescue up and running with enough funds to help the animals she wants to help. In order to keep rescuing animals, to save them from being killed, she gives belly dance classes. To me, doing this while in Minnie is an excellent way to honor Prince, because the proceeds go to a good cause, one Prince himself was in support of (protecting animals, evidenced by his being a vegan, his song "Animal Kingdom", etc), and it's a way for fans to connect to someone who knew Prince, as well as, getting some healthy and fun exercise in. Prince loved dance, he loved to dance, and obviously he loved the way Mayte belly danced while they were together. Everyone else that was connected to Prince is charging money for the things they did while with Prince. Do you think Morris Day and the Time are giving concerts for free? Do you think Sheila E is giving her concerts for free? Heck, is the tribute free? Everyone is charging money for what they are doing in Minnie. It costs to get into Paisley Park now. Why should Mayte not charge for what she did while she was with Prince, when no one else is doing anything for free?

With you on this.... I was always told if I can't say anything nice don't say anything at all. Constant complaining about every freaking thing. Again reflects more on the writer than the individuals/things they are trashing. Complainers, go ahead and stay small.

Dude, she teaches these classes across the country on a weekly basis. This isn't just a one-off. Whether she was invited or not, it doesn't matter. She's trying to move on each day by doing what she's done LONG before she even met Prince. People are hurting. Got it. Upset. Got it. I would much rather see her out and about, telling uplifting stories about her life with him and doing positive work than crawling into a hole, jabbing away at a keyboard, attacking former friends and associates on social media, never to be seen again. Like it or not, life down here has to go on, but excuse her for taking some time out to commemorate the life of somebody she was once very close to.

I understand why some fans and some assiociates have a problem with what Mayte is doing but I think it is perfectly understandable that she is doing what she´s doing. I mean , she WAS his ex-wife and it´s only natural that she´d write a book about their relationship or , for lack of a better world, has to make ends meet and hustle to make a living, and there´s not that much else she can do as a profession except for dancing. It´s not like she´s gone through an apprenticeship for a new profession. Of course she could´ve written a book earlier but you all know that she was probably legally prohibited from doing so....we all know about the gag orders that associates had to sign.

I don´t even care if the money she´s making goes to animal shelters, charities or into her own pockets. As far as I´m concerned, it´s up to her what she does with the money, and keep in mind she has a life and a daughter to support.

The ubiquitous mention of money going to the animal shelter is not really necessary, is it?

Let her keep the money she´s makes, it´s not like she´s cashing in millions.

On the other hand , I also understand why some fans have a problem with her considering some of the things she´s said and done. But that was probably just a reaction or a phase.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Thank you for sharing that about Mayte. I just knew she was like that...just a vibe I got from her and probably because of the way she loves animals, Gia and Prince. Wish I could there also.

That's just bull shit. She is a 501c3 charity, meaning she HAS to answer to the IRS and can show no profit.

I do not understand why people try to tarnish her? Sadly, I've never met her but I follow her and give monthly to her charity. She is beautiful, inside and out. I see why Prince was so in love with her.

There should be more people like Mayte in this world. She hasn't changed what she has been doing. The haters are just following her now and assuming she's "riding" Prince's coat tails. She's no different today than a year ago.

Those degrading Mayte and Sheila are clearly upset by his relationship with each of them.

I was very happy to help Maytes Rescue and will continue to do so as I am able. Every pet I have ever had has been a rescue animal, usually strays I find. I hate seeing animals (or people) mistreated and neglected. It breaks my heart how we treat each other as a people and especially those that are more vulnerable or defenseless (our 4 legged friends). Anything I can do to help others and these animals, I will do.
