The Time

Was thinking about this while listening to the party girl song from condensate. They should get the O7 back together and put out a MPLS FUNK album that only they could pull off. It could serve as their tribute to the man. Don't experiment, keep the minney groove in all of the songs. I even think it would sell.

Whatchuthank?

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

They should, but I doubt it will happen.

O7 project imploded massively. I saw Jellybean not long after that, and discussed it with him. To say he was pissed with Jesse was an understatement. And then you've got the fact that Jam & Lewis don't really need any project they do to be massively successful because they are already multi-millionaires, whereas other bandmembers would really need everybody to commit everything they've got to make it worth their while - and yet, Jam & Lewis would likely insist on calling the shots due to their status.

Morris, Monte and Bean are perfectly happy with the "Morris Day & The Time" lineup - at this point, that lineup has been playing together for many many more years than the O7 lineup ever did, and everyone is on the same page. Hell - Tori and Ricky even worked on "Old Dogs, New Tricks" with Morris and Prince, so it's not as if those bandmembers are a step removed from the purple world, like everyone seems to think. And it was that version of the band that performed at Paisley shortly before Prince died, and at the Rave2000 concert.

I love J&L as much as anyone, and I'd be the first person in line to buy tickets to an O7 show if one happened within a reasonable travelling distance.

But at this point, I just don't see it happening. The "Morris Day & The Time" lineup has a good thing going on a long term basis, and why would they put that on hold to do stuff with Jimmy, Terry, Jesse (and Jerome at this point since he's not with the touring lineup anymore) when it's been proven on two occasions (Pandemonium & Condensate) that that lineup can't hold it together?

I've said it repeatedly before he died, but the ONLY person that could keep the original lineup of The Time in check was Prince. I really, truly believe that. I'd love to be proven wrong.

I don't think Jam & Lewis wanted to tour, cause They were only doing the occasional TV Show. Combine that w/Morris not wanting to put "Part-Time" to rest (Now that I think about it, WHY SHOULD HE?? HE'S IN CONTROL, not 6 others!!), and U have why Jesse BOUNCED!! Sounds like He was fully committed to the project but everyone else wasn't. So He bounced and has toured the World a whole bunch!!! Oh yeah: Alan Leeds is D'Angelo's Manager. I walked RIGHT PAST HIM @ D's Seattle Show!!!! Can U IMAGINE if Alan Leeds was managing the OG7ven???? WHEW!!!!
