Reading Alex Hahn book -- mentions Mani

I was able to get Alex Hahn's book "Possessed: The Rise and Fall of Prince" from the library. It goes up to the period of time when Prince married Mani, but not a huge amount of detail there. He says, "...Prince had by mid-1998 begun to develop eyes for another woman, a twenty-one-year-old Paisley Park employee named Manuela Testolini." "A highly religious young woman, Testolini spoke with Prince about God and spirituality at every opportunity, which further piqued his interest." "He and Mani got close and the closer they got the more he distanced himself from Mayte."

Was Mani "deeply religious" when she arrived at PP, or did she see this as a way to engage him in conversation? Someone who was deeply religious (in whatever her original relgion was) wouldn't be so willing to convert to another, like Jehovah's Witnesses. And to move in on a married man who just lost his child--what kind of "deeply relgious" person does that?

This is very disturbing. If P. had managed to stay with Mayte, I think he would be alive today. If he had given her a chance to have more kids (the genetic defect of the baby who died would not necessarily be passed on to others--I've read about it) he would be alive and have several kids as well as a wife taking care of him. I remember him telling an interviewer that Mayte cooked different vegetarian meals for them every night (before and after he had chefs). She would not have left him and he would be alive today. Sorry to vent, but i think others on the board will understand--this tragedy could have been averted.

I think you're assuming some things here, like for example, Prince was not completely in control of who he was interested in persuing or what he was doing about his own ailments.

Also Mayte has said they lost two attempts at having a child. For a long time that was not public.

^^^Agreed. There's a lot of uneducated assumptions in that. He'd still be alive if he was married to Mayte???? REALLY? That's implying that he died because he was married to someone else. Unfounded and ludicrous.

It's also amazing that alleged fans, who praise him for doing things his way suddenly forget that and think everyone else was in control of him, or that he lost his damn mind. It's sad that he's dead from an overdose. But it's sadder that fans bastardize his memory with nonsense.

That's why there should be 'Prince Music' only forum. Fuck the 'more'. It's way beyond time this site got a major revamp. I'll donate gladly.

You joined 12 days ago and this is your first post, and it's bashing Prince's ex-wife? That's what you decided your FIRST post on this board should be about? Well here's something - out of the three people mentioned in your post, you know precisely none of them personally.

npt long since the other jusr suddenly dissaoeared. yes, i am a fairly new member to this site, but one thing i've noticed for sure is there is no room for much discussion when it comes to ex 1 or ex 2. i truly am baffled by it. it makes no sense. we can talk about how he was in bed or whether he we believe the illuninati killed him yet we are shut down left and right over this,

Just say Mani and the thread gets locked. :lol

Note to you. Be careful about talking about her. You will be accused of bashing her. lol

We don't know if he would have been better off with either Mayte or Mani(or any body else). Everything happens for reason. A person does not need to be in a relationship to be happy. Some are worst off in relationships.

That's entirely untrue. I'm not a fan of Manuella per se. I don't hate her, but she was never on my radar as relevant or significant to Prince's music, compared to past ex's (wife or otherwise). PS The Illuminati stuff is relegated to the thread of perpetual cluelessness, called the second sticky on that sort of thing. There was also another sticky on such bullshit.

However, when someone joins and immediately says "If P. had managed to stay with Mayte, I think he would be alive today. If he had given her a chance to have more kids (the genetic defect of the baby who died would not necessarily be passed on to others--I've read about it) he would be alive and have several kids as well as a wife taking care of him.", that idiocy needs to be challenged straight up.

Also, the uneducated "I've read about it" comment is laughable. I've read about Osteogenesis Imperfecta and dwarfism, but that doesn't mean I have any real clue or idea what my 13-year-old cousin has gone through in her life thus far.

Mayte tried twice to have kids, yet there are no heirs in college right now. Hell, it could have killed Mayte to keep trying. It's true, I've read about it.

prince would be alive if he was still with MG?

-/- consider who MG has shown herself to be, with her words and behavior, in the last 5 yrs. do the same with p.

-/- can you really say that these to people and personalities would be compatible? and remember the overbearing, acid tongued mother in law.

-?- i'd suggest the same to the legions of people who think he would be alive if he was with denise. or if denise hadn't died.

***

exactly how do you think either of these women would have kept him alive? in both cases he ran every aspect of their lives when they were a couple. but they would have MADE him go to rehab, or get more sleep or whatever....course they would have. wink especially taking into account who the womna are/were in the last 5yrs or so. HINT: devout christian women don't bosstheir husbands around and bratty screaming fifis get kicked to the curb.

I hate it when threads disappear. I wish they'd just lock them. It's more honest. And that other Mani thread was not that bad.

Honestly, I have been skeptical of the claims of those who hate Mani when they said P has taken more heat on the org than she ever has. But now I'm beginning to understand. I've seen worse threads about P stand. And it's not just threads about his tight clothing or how he died (the former being all in good fun); I've read some pretty angry threads about him regarding decisions he's made or music or his religion or whatever.

I don't begrudge Mani's efforts in court to keep sealed files sealed (which we know P would want); it's her right and I was on her side and I even defended her. But, being that she's P's ex and given that there is an associate artist and people thread, maybe she should keep FB posts set to friends rather than making them public if she doesn't want to be the subject of a thread. She knows it's going to be talked about.

End of rant.

No. That thread disappeared. And not everyone was bashing her. Some people criticized her(surprise, surprise...it's the org) and others were just trying to figure out what some of the info meant. It was pretty mild as far as the some of these threads go.

I can understand locking it after a while...beating a dead horse and all...but the fact that those threads don't even last 24 hours before they disappear is baffling given some of the threads about P. And she always has the option to set her posts to friends only if she doesn't like people dissecting them.

I tell my students all the time. Nothing is private on the Internet. Don't put it out there if you are bothered by everyone (as in hundreds or thousands of people) seeing it and expressing their opinion...

Thank you, yes that's the one I was talking about being deleted and why I even made the comment about not much room for discussion. I've just seen so so many lately go POOF in no time. I was caught off guard cause I thought people were handling the topic fairly well considering some of the hate ive seen for her in. The past.

Isn't this a little gossipy? Actually...

You're totally blaming P's ex-wife for his death.

"She would not have left him and he would be alive today. Sorry to vent, but i think others on the board will understand--this tragedy could have been averted."

I'm on this board and I definitely understand wanting to blame someone or something for loss that affects you.

But come on - please have some respect. I hope I never become a famous musician or public figure with fans that say this kind of stuff about my ex-wife - or anyone I know personally - even if I don't like her/them/whatever. You have no idea what you're talking about and imo this thread is a bit crazy.

Please don't forget that these are real people - they exist - and this kind of thing is actually hurtful.

yeahthat
I agree the OP assumes waaayyyy too much. But I have a problem with women who can't seem to keep their distance from married men. It's not that hard. There are just some things you shouldn't do. Women need to respect each other and respect the boundary that exists between themselves and married men. Even if he was the instigator and/or pursuer, it's still on you to maintain a professional relationship and not let things get cozy and personal with the boss while he is still married to another woman. It's a very basic common courtesy. I'm sorry but I detest women (and men) who don't respect the sacredness of marriage whether it's a good or bad one. Nothing is worth possibly contributing to the demise of another's marriage.

You're so civilized.

Unfortunately there are always outside parties with no scruples who have an agenda and upon seeing a chasm in a relationship have no problem swooping in to comfort" one partner the way the other partner doesn't cuz 'they don't understand you like I do, we connect".

I know! My views are the things of fantasy. If only. Human beings are capable of some pretty shitty behavior and don't feel bad about it even. I don't get it. There must be something wrong with me after spending 12 years in a parochial school where heaps of guilt is the basis of the so called religion and of the education experience overall. lol lol
