No more from Stevie Wonder tributes please unless he is just playing the music. He's whiffed it three times in my opinion: at the LA Memorial, at the Billboard Music Awards, and on the BET Awards show. His singing is horrible. He just doesn't have it anymore.

I saw Stevie live last fall and his voice was great and he put on a great show. I think he may have just been too close to Prince to pull off these tributes. Could be that is just to upset.

I saw Stevie perform the entire Songs in the Key of Life album a year ago and his voice was excellent until one song when he became a little hoarse, then he took a break and came back full force to the end. A concert not to be missed. I think he choked up on the Prince tributes. I saw an interview with him shortly after Prince died and he had to quit speaking because he was overcome by tears. In another iinterview he was asked to sing and he said he couldn't... But, make no mistake, Stevie shines at his own concerts where he is the one in control.

That's exactly what he was doing in this case. His voice throughout the concert was very good when he was singing his own songs.

I think he choked up

A few years ago Stevie started crying singing The Way You Make Me Feel

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
