Vanity's 7th Heaven..see eerie Prince connections

I was watching old videos last nite of Vanity/Vanity 6 and really started seeing some eerie similarities with Prince and Vanity.

Vanitys 7th Heavens lyrics are...step in the elevator, press number 7, thats all you got to do to get into heaven...also its called SEVENTH heaven........that number eek

It reminds me of Princes Lets go crazy...if the elevator tries to bring you down, go crazy...punch a higher floor....

Prince's favorite number was 7 and he passed away in an elevator....they are both gone (too soon) and died so close together, same age fifty SEVEN, it just made me feel that the ''elevator'' scenario seems so eerie now AND Princes number 7 keeps popping up everywhere for me!!!!

Just thought i'd mention it.

I had to go listen to Vanity's 7th Heaven and sure enough she is singing about an elevator. eek

"I've found the place, finally found the place for you and me to go if you want to get in, ha ha Step up in the elevator, press number 7 That's all you've got to do to get to 7th Heaven.."

I don't know what it means or if means anything, but it is definitely bizarre.

I just can't believe that an elevator would be a common thread for the two of them, just as dying the same year, at the same age eek now i'm sad again neutral

It is very sad but then maybe the comfort can be that they are together now.

  • You know i do find comfort in that...because i can imagine, in a way, that after you pass away, the way Denise/Vanity did in February (about 8 weeks earlier) that she could ''see'' him, feel his anguish...and willed him back to her...so his pain and suffering would end as well, that she welcomed him with open arms to a better place...so now they are both in pain, no longer. Just have comfort and peace now.

  • Also, i find it intersting that in the end, they both suffered, and they both found God (different religions but still...) and both battled health issues that were brought on by life style, drugs (prescribed medications in his case) and that they both battled and then succommed to difficulties that in the end, took them way too soon...at about the same time, at the same age----------that still gets to me sad

They also were friends with Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, and both of them worked with Clarence Williams III in Purple Rain 1985 and 52-Pick Up 1986.

Yes! I agree.

If I remember correctly, when Denise left him it was due to the business relationship, but also she wanted a one woman-man. Prince was not able to give her that, yet. I mean they were in their early 20's and people do stupid things when their that young. Anyway, I think despite all his flings, sexual escapades, and even marriages throughout the decades, I truly believe she was the ONE who captured his heart. She never found fulfillment in any of her relationships after Prince or marriage either. I get sad when think about what her relationship with him could've been had there not been some of the obstacles they endured.

I think they both hoped that sometime in the future, there would've been a chance for reconciliation. I think they both wanted it and for it to be in the purest sense. When she died, that made it the 2nd time he lost her- too much to bear. I'm not saying that's the only thing that killed him, but it was definitely a huge factor, I believe.

Now they can enjoy eternity in peace- no more angst, pain, fear, obstacles, or anything else this world throws.

Brilliant post, as much as I like Appollina in Purple Rain (I even watched Falcon Crest because she was in a hand ful of episodes) I prefered Vanity....I also wished Jam & Lewis was in Purple Rain. I've seen The Homecoming Show 1983 and that lineup to me were the OG's. Vanity had the looks, could sing, the swag like Questlove said https://www.instagram.com...1B6kvwa72/ she was Everything!

Hind site, very telling an uncharacteristic when Denise passed, true lovers at the wrong time. I can imagine their glorious perfected reunion.

ETA- I know that there have been explanations regarding the meaning of 3121, but here's my take on it...After the news was released about Prince's passing I was of course devastated. I had been given a bottle of his 3121 perfume years ago and the light went on. It all screamed to me 4/21.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last....

Had the same experience listening to 7th Heaven after he died. Could'nt believe she said elevator, had to listen again. I cannot think of any other songs in modern music that have word "elevator" yet both Prince and Denise' songs do. Sometimes I wonder too if Prince had a NDE when he overdosed.

Yeah...i saw that too, and it also equals ''7'' which seems to be all over the Prince and Vanity connections as well.
